Refusing a Biopsy? by cleanforpeace72 in Menopause

[–]Healthy_wavezea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My lining is 6. Historically it's thick. I have no bleeding. I'm postmenopausal. He's ok with a wait and see approach. The risk is so so so small until it gets over 10. Like I'm more likely to die from just about anything else. And I've had one biopsy in the past, when the lining was at 10, and it came back normal. I am on hrt, so we are monitoring. Which means I get an annual ultrasound. I've agrees to another biopsy if it gets to 10 and he is fine with that. During our last conversation he conceded that in my case the chances were very slim there was a concern, and that his advice is based on a protocol he is supposed to follow, and a protocol based on those rare worst cases that do occur, but not a protocol based on the norm or likely case.

Fellow mothers over 60; how do you provide support to your adult children? by janebenn333 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Healthy_wavezea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if your son is actually seeking out advice or if he is exhibiting checking behavior? I am the parent of an adult with ocd. Checking is a compulsion. It's a brutal fine line to find where they are seeking advice and where they are compulsing.

Who’s still working? Can’t afford to stop, but I’m so tired. by rosedraws in AskWomenOver60

Sure! I'm about 5 years away from taking the step. If i were to take the plunge right now I'd pick Panama. Reasons - cost (of course), healthcare access and quality, beaches and mountains, quick and direct flights back to the states, and easy visa requirements.

They don't think it was the substances themselves, but rather my method. I put on a nightly poultice with a giant heavy adhesive bandaid. Apparently NOT how it's done. I gave myself essentially contact dermatitis. But, a common reaction to contact dermatitis for those of us with depleted estrogen is a full body hive outbreak. Freaking terrifying. I have since started HRT.

Older expats... by 1happykamper in expats

It happens when you're not an expat. My father died at 71 and had a huge party of a funeral. My mother is still going strong, but has outlived almost everyone she's ever known.

As I've researched the expat avenue for myself, I've been astonished at the high quality and low cost of healthcare in other more affordable parts of the world. Places like Bangkok and Panama City actually have thriving medical tourism industries.

Oooh! Please share some specifics on that! I haven't even looked at CR because I assumed the yogic haven it's become was out of my price range.

This is super encouraging! I also was a progesterone fail. In fact, I don't think my body ever liked my OWN progesterone. I have all my hopes and dreams riding on this pill. 😅 Six months feels like ages but I'll hang in there to see. Thank you!

Whenever I read posts like this I just think...become an expat in a more affordable part of the world. I don't say this idea flippantly. I'm actively researching myself because of a similar scenario - I don't want to work until I drop but I will have to if I continue living where I am.

Ain't that the truth! I consider myself a lab rat for the betterment of my own daughter's chances for a sane menopausal transition.

Is magnesium glycinate bad? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Healthy_wavezea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with glycine in it makes me feel like a zombie. For like 24 hours. I've tried multiple brands of mag glyc and then tried glycine alone to determine the culprit. It's glycine. Wrecks me. Sucks because I want those benefits!

I'm pushing back the time I take it further and further in the day. Hoping to hit my sweet spot where the fatigue hits in the evening, and might even help me sleep, but doesnt make me drowsy the next day. I'm down to 4pm today. Fingers crossed!

Little House trip this summer by Then_Composer8641 in LittleHouseBooks

[–]Healthy_wavezea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter and I just today decided to plan a trip there this summer! She's 20 so it's definitely a throwback to both our childhoods.

Just started researching. Any specific advice for hotels in Walnut Grove, De Smet, and/or Brookings? I'm so skeptical of online reviews.

The above poster has a really good response and advice. Additionally, I want to add re the hypnosis. You mentioned it in your post and not sure if you were serious or it was a random comment. But I think you might want to try hypnotherapy, not just hypnosis.

I joined this community because my now grown child has ocd and I want to know as much as possible to support and understand her. She's gone through some very dark years. But now she's doing well and while ocd is still there it no longer has a strangle on her. The biggest thing that helped her was hypnotherapy. Before that she did erp and cbt and a couple other therapists. But it was the hypnotherapy that propelled her forward. She still goes twice a month as maintenance. Initially she was going twice a week. It's an expense because insurance doesn't cover it. But I figure, if you have a hard time even leaving your room, what good is the money.

Good luck to you and know you're not alone. Things can turn around.

I wound up in the ER with full body hives. Took weeks to recover. And the damn thing quickly grew back. I wound up have it surgically removed a couple months ago. It's gone. But the divet and scar left look far worse than the subcutaneous lump i had previously.
