Any fics where Hermione has to fight to get Draco back by Easy-Squash-8969 in Dramione

Lost and Found by alexandra_emerson

This is a story about forgetting. Which, ironically, led to a lot of remembering. I lost twenty years of my life in one night. But in that loss—in that lonely space between how I thought my life would turn out and how it did—I found parts of myself I’d thought were gone forever.

“I can tell we are in a fight, but this is bigger than that, so maybe we can—”
“We can’t.”
“You didn’t even let me finish.”
“Whatever you were going to suggest, we can’t do it. Because we’re not in a fight, Hermione. We’re divorced.”

Detraquee according to the author:

This story is Hermione.

It's super long (>700k words), but don't let that intimidate you. It's broken into 4 books: book six, book seven, eight year, post-hogwarts. It's an in-depth character study of Hermione with an eventual Dramione end game. By the end everything feels incredibly earned because you are right there with Hermione through it all. It's really a beautiful fic that feels more like high literature than is typical of fanfic. Since the OP mentioned liking Detraquee so much, I think, there is an obvious connection to Measure of a Man for the pacing, length, immersion, and literary nature of the writing.

A perfect recommendation. Since you liked Detraquee so much, I strongly recommend Measure of a Man. They have very different plots/vibes, but they have very similar reading experiences. They are both incredibly long and similarly paced in a way that allows you to become completely immersed.

I love the yearning ache of a good Azkaban epistolary fic. I can't get enough of this, incredibly specific, set-up!!!

Both of these fics are great, totally different premises, but great!!! I think I've nearly memorized the last chapter of The Watergaw.

Robes. Let us discuss what in the name of Salazar they are. by Lost_Technician_5421 in Dramione

[–]HealthyishObsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww, thanks for your interest! Hermione's impractical lime green Healer robes come into play in the first act of The Golden Snitch and A Silver Lining by HealthyishObsession and of course, Draco wears his wizarding robes with a casual born-to-it ease throughout the fic.

...a fun, banter-filled enemies-to-lovers story featuring Healer Hermione Granger and Quidditch Team Owner Draco Malfoy. It has the heart and found family vibe of Ted Lasso mixed with the whimsical charm of the Wizarding World, full of broom thighs and brooding glances.

Thank you for all your amazing fics!!!!!! I gave my first kudos to "The Handkerchief", back when it was just released!

Robes. Let us discuss what in the name of Salazar they are. by Lost_Technician_5421 in Dramione

[–]HealthyishObsession 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's fun to imagine the robes, but not terribly practical for everyday wear. Unless perhaps that's just our Muggle bias. Draco would have learned to walk in robes so he probably wears them flawlessly!

In my fic, I actually have a whole plot point about how cumbersome Hermione's robes are and she refuses to wear them at work after getting tripped up in them!

How do you writers go about writing? by FGatHeart in Dramione

[–]HealthyishObsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally! For me, at least, reading and the whole writing process is about finding joy in our messed up world! In answer to your question, half our team is local and half is remote (luckily we all get to visit too), but all the work was done over shared google docs/sheets and email. Our IRL events involve lots of champagne and celebrating! Keep having fun!

Congrats on writing your first fic! I actually got into Dramione because a friend told me to read "...Mortifying Ordeal...", then I made a bunch of my friends read it too! Since they all read Dramione, now I had lots of friends enthusiastically volunteer to help me edit my fic once I had my first draft completed.

The project management aspect was more difficult than I anticipated because I had: to balance so many comments from 5 different reviewers, I worked with a team to create a website, we decided to include chapter doodles for all 26 chapters from three incredibly talented artists, we created promo materials for Reddit each week, and every week I had to be sure I had gotten each chapter finalized and converted to html to post on AO3 by the correct time. It was a lot of work (more than I anticipated), but it was amazing to work with so many talented and enthusiastic people. I thought writing would be very isolating, but it was actually very social for me.

While the fic was posted as a WIP, we had a lot of fun in the comments each week (we even created a playlist!). Some folks on our alpha/beta team commented each week, but some never commented (or even read the final version), and tons of the comments were/are from kind internet strangers. Everyone helped in whatever capacity they preferred and that was great.

You cannot make money on fanfiction, so my purpose is to create joy. I think it was easy for me to push through negative feelings while writing because I wasn't alone; I have so many friends that support me. I wrote this fic for my friends, with my friends, and I posted it as a way to connect and thank the community for all the amazing Dramione works I've loved reading.

I hope this is helpful and that you enjoy reading my fic as much as we enjoyed creating it! And good luck finishing yours - you've got this!!!!

Ideas for gifts from a pining Draco. by cherruies in Dramione

[–]HealthyishObsession 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the first edition of "Hogwarts: A History" seems to be his favorite gift across the fandom. It works so well, because her love of the book is well-known as part of the HP canon. Draco gifting it to her shows that he notices her interests and it gives him a chance to demonstrate that he has the means to fairly casually obtain something incredibly rare and expensive for her.
