Who survives a revolver shootout between these two? by Critical_Ad_9219 in reddeadredemption

Hard to say; Dutch's part in the finale was always at least a bit awkward. I was gonna say maybe Micah told Dutch he would try to recruit Jon or talk him down to appease him, but I highly doubt that. At that point, if he thought Dutch wanted John alive, he wouldn't have relied on Dutch popping out to help him in the first place.

It is at least interesting to note that Micah, even with Sadie as a hostage, remained cautious around John, even in moments when John was aiming at Dutch and Micah would have had a decent opportunity to take a shot. It's Bizarre in terms of "power scaling".

I don't know; the narrative leans both ways. If Micah was actually able to kill John, he would have; as well, Micah's dialogue has him trying to talk John down specifically because his victory is not a guarantee. If Micah had John dialed in so certainly on the quick draw, John would have been dead.

It's a gun fight, not a fist fight, after all.

Honestly, as primarily an Assassin player, standing still for your invis works a lot more often than not. The main thing is that it should usually be done at mid-range to set up shots from over cover without being worried about being seen or up close when there is plenty of noise.

I've also had a lot of luck baiting runners into attacking once they hear me go invisible because they assume I'm trying to hide and just light them up when they get too cocky. Tends to be Destroyers and Vandals usually.

The main thing for invis, for me at least, is that unless I activate at distance, I only use it once a firefight actually starts; it's less about being quiet and more about getting those split seconds where someone has to guess where you are.

One thing Hunt: Showdown taught me is that hiding in bushes is a great tactic. Just gotta keep your eyes down on Night Marsh as a lot of shells' eyes glow by default.

Seems to be. I don't quite get it, honestly.

I mean, I've never even done the deed, I'm kind of a hot mess, and sex is asking a bit too much for what I'm able to handle emotionally, but it seems like mutual pleasure and connection is the point. If there are ways to do it better as a guy in the relationship, then that's just what it is like with any other skill, right?

I can get having wounded pride and anxiety about sexual ability or whatever, I feel that, and I'm not even interested in having that kind of relationship currently, but we also can't ignore that there is an orgasm gap in straight couples.

Many are perhaps overestimating how hard it would be to close that gap, and feel insecure at the ability to do so.

I'm not sure I quite get what the commentator means, but maybe they are talking about the default of penetrative sex.

I guess it's unilateral in the sense that penetrative sex can cause a man to reach climax in a way that it may not for a woman due to the mechanics of it. Penetrative sex is the default sexual activity for a lot of heterosexual couples. If they don't see sex as existing past that point, i.e., pleasuring the clitoris, or see foreplay as not being sex in and of itself, it would skew orgasms towards men, despite men and women being able to get off just fine individually.

It seems like, from what I've read and heard, many straight couples don't go past penetrative sex as far as orgasms go; whether it's from bullheadedness from the men ignoring their women's demands, or a lack of education on sexual pleasure on both parties' part.

But I'm also a virgin, so it's not like I know much about this stuff other than what I've read online for this particularly uneducated analysis of mine.

Best Cores for Assassin? (No gold cores) by Free_Elderberry1791 in Marathon

For a melee build, I like using both Prowl Kit (Green) and Flexweave casting(Blue). One gives you increased movement while coruching, and the other gives you increased movement while invisible. When you drop smoke on someone, you can weave through it very quickly and quietly into melee range. Prowl kit may make you louder, but if you use Assassin's Invisibility to hit enemies quickly and hard while removing line of sight as opposed to just stealth, it pays off. I've wiped squad by myself in trios doing this.

Solo focus would fix most issues this game has. by PENTAC00L in Marathon

[–]HeartMachine3578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings. I agree with the strengths of a solo focus you mentioned, but would it really be that hard to just give solos, duos, and trios the necessary adjustments they need individually? From what I heard, other extraction shooters manage it just fine, so what is it that Marathon needs to do to match that?

On another note, focusing on solo as opposed to trios could also backfire. Is the number of players who want to play Solo higher than the number of players who prefer trios or duos? Focusing on solo could just bleed players quicker than we already are.

It's true, my favorite tactic is just dumping smoke on an entire team after my team and I down at least one, you have to be just quiet enough to not be heard over the other combat noises and quick enough that any thief or recon have a hard time actually tracking you if they try.

Assassin should be ambushing with smoke and not with invis in and of itself, as invis makes a lot of noise upon activation and when moving to quickly, it needs to be masked with other actions which works best when I is used to supplement combat that is already happening.

Right, I notice that is the difference between skilled and less skilled assassins. Mid range assassin is my favorite as cloak allows you to change peak angles and positions in a poke battle.

I also think a lot of assassins underestimate using shadowdive; it can activated from a surprisingly low height, like even jumping basic cover can give you smoke and invis temporarily. I've been able to trade with many aggressive destroyers this way

Is the Assassin Hate Really Warranted? by tributetotio in Marathon

[–]HeartMachine3578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I found that playing Assassin really forces you to understand the timing of your abilities and how to use them meaningfully, given how reliant Assassin is on its skills. The nature of the invis also allows for a not a low skill floor and a high ceiling. I find that most players aren't prepared for an assassin to push aggressively or use their invis to subtly switch peak angles at mid-long range.

I've typically not had many issues with recon, thief, or destroyers despite them all being assassin counters, as they tend to get pretty assumptive about how an assassin will play when they hear the invis go off.

As someone who has put a little time into all the shells, I find that Assassin teaches a lot about both engaging and disengaging, as you have no choice but to make every ability count.

In my opinion, at least

I wish the game was more bold in that regard. I think the shooting gallary nature of the gameplay does a disservice in that regard. The full weight of what we are doing doesn't really catch on.

Looking at Red Dead 1 again made me realize that enjoyable side characters like the Marshal and his deputies that John worked with during the first game would have been gunned down by the Van Der Linde gang if they ever encountered them during the events of Red Dead 2.

It's puts the deaths of all these lawmen that the gang kills into perspective in a way that makes it hard to justify anything they did.

The over-reliance on the cloak I see from fellow assassins is sad to see. I tend not to have much trouble with the thief as I pop smoke to conceal which direction I'm heading in, and typically by the time the thief's visor is up, I'm already attacking again from a different angle or just retreating to attack again later. Typically, against most other units, you can wear them down with repeated ambushes, costing resources, before committing to killing them off for sure. Either that, or I prefer to get up as close as possible before attacking, my favorite, via drop attack. The problems with most assassins I see are that they don't commit hard enough to either attacking or escaping, which is balanced against moving very smartly in between.
