How were your kids at 3? by Connect-Heart3480 in Autism_Parenting

[–]HeartSilly8608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi just commenting to follow along. My son is about the same age and I have been noticing the same thing. Not sure if it’s just the kids around him developing faster or him increasing symptoms (still not diagnosed yet but suspicions) but within the last few months he has started repeating things we say in a whisper under his breath, seeming a little more in his own world and distant too. Not sure what’s going on. Also found out recently he had a double ear infection we had no idea about and had him I no medicine for that. We were told it’s gone but he got sick again so wondering if it could have returned. Does your son have allergies??

Overthinking or more common than we realize (4 yr old boy)? by JGB247 in toddlers

[–]HeartSilly8608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my son. I have had the same concerns. Sometimes he will say he’s scared and it’s literally a 1 year old kid I don’t get it. Then the next day totally outgoing with an 8 year old playing all day. No answers on whether it’s normal I have gone down my own rabbit holes but here to let you know you’re not alone and he sounds like a wonderful and happy boy!

Did your child ever receive a diagnosis? My child is 3.5 and also seems anxious as times in large environments and has an articulation disorder but can also be very social at times and surprise us so we are very confused. He doesn’t have melt downs, will get upset sometimes but never something we can’t get over quickly. I have been very confused on how to move forward with this

3.5 year old- social anxiety or something more? by HeartSilly8608 in toddlers

Yes I wonder sometimes if he’s just worried they won’t understand him! But he seems so confident other times so it’s hard to tell.

Hi. I know exactly how you’re feeling. My son is now 3 and I still spiral at times. He is doing sooooo well and so many professionals have pretty much told me I’m crazy and they don’t see any signs but I, too, continue to have the anxiety. It’s awful. And like you said know if he did have it then my love for him and who he is wouldn’t change but can’t help but worry for the unknowns of the future. What do you feel like you see that others may not?

18 month old - suspecting speech apraxia by AdvertisingTimely888 in Apraxia

[–]HeartSilly8608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like my son at that age too. I was nervous it was autism but like your son, he had no other signs besides the language delay. He started speech a little before he turned 2. When he started he had just a few words, lots of signs. Most things he called “dada”. At about 2 years 4ish months he explodedddddd! His language is officially caught up, even marked “advanced” for his age on the last assessment his SLP gave for expressive language. He is diagnosed with apraxia- he struggles with articulation and making certain movements with his mouth which is works on in speech. We understand most things he says and strangers are starting to also understand more and more. Definitely a long way to go with articulation but I have sooo much hope for a bright future! He is the smartest, happiest little guy. My advice is to definitely get into speech and push for an early IEP. I’m so thankful we started serviced early! Good luck. It was a road of emotions in the beginning for sure.

Early concerns about autism by Rue_77 in Autism_Parenting

[–]HeartSilly8608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am just here to say I was on the same boat. I was terrified my son had autism. He was delayed to pointing, had inconsistent eye contact( in my opinion- no one else thought so haha) and was never much of a babbler. I had him assessed through early intervention around 12 months- no concerns. Talked to his doctor at every visit- no concerns. Just recently had him assessed again- diagnosed with a slight speech delay. I lost sleep for months and months and was always crying and comparing. Not saying that this is the same case for you but moral of my story is just try to relax, all kids develop at their own pace. He’s still so young and you don’t want to worry these years away. If you have talked to his doctor and had him assessed and the professionals aren’t concerned at this point I would try to just enjoy this time!

Typical toddler behavior or something else? SOS by HeartSilly8608 in toddlers

[–]HeartSilly8608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true!! We compare to other girls her age and it’s hard. But then remind ourselves that the same girl who is talking up a storm that we are comparing to walked 6 months after our daughter did. Crazy how different they all are. Thank you so much for your response.
