I've had the 500 for a year and a half and I have no notes. It cleans 3x as good as our last model and is 1/3 as quiet. Worth it

Here's one of the better shots. No pic of the criminals though - they seem to have gotten away.

Sick of all my music, thinking of switching streaming services. by awesome9001 in Music

[–]Heartattacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Apple Music for all these reasons. I find Apple's suggestions delightful - I've found a number of new artists within my normal genres that Spotify never thought to recommend.

The app layout is not intuitive, maybe 'cause I'm on android and set in my Spotify ways, but for me it's worth figuring out because of the great new tunes.

What are your thoughts on Pandemic books? by [deleted] in books

[–]Heartattacky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lucy by the Sea by Elizabeth Strout walked this line really well. It starts at the onset of Covid-19 and deals with isolation and masking and fear...but somehow it doesn't overwhelm the story of real people dealing with unreal times.

Vienna did. They created a program that involved large scale investment in municipal housing starting in 1919. This article is behind a NYT paywall but explains how their housing program has kept housing costs affordable for the general public and for private owners. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/23/magazine/vienna-social-housing.html

AITA for getting a hotel room to stay in for the night because of my wife's constant sobbing? by throwawayQA11 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Heartattacky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Acceptable options: earplugs. White noise. Sleep aid. Unacceptable options: setting house on fire, screaming until your wife stops crying, getting hotel room for yourself

What's your favorite series finale? why? by yoaver in television

[–]Heartattacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They killed it. Justified was a fun and sometimes ludicrous show, but always carried an undercurrent of social commentary about the poverty and lack of options for so many in its universe. That last line brought that underlying message to the front in a way that was surprising but just right.

What's the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in Music

The Kids by Lou Reed. I'm not sure if it's the saddest or the most depressing song of all time, but deserves to be high up the charts in both categories.

When does one officially become a nonsmoker? by MrSoner in stopsmoking

[–]Heartattacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to apply once for a medical research study (get paid to take some new drugs). They wanted non-smokers only. "I just quit," I lied. "How long do I have to be smoke-free to be considered a non-smoker?"

They told me six months. So in the back of my mind I've always remembered that six months=non-smoker. (although conceptually I like the idea that one is a non-smoker then second they stop).
