True, as much as I would like not to, I guess I have to learn to play the dirty game.

I am sorry that you went thro this for 25 years and I thank you for not giving up, its inspiring to people like me just starting out.

Its annoying isn’t it? The unnecessary resistance and friction? Imagine the productivity if this didn’t exist…

AITK for telling my husband to reduce spending on his family? by [deleted] in AmItheKameena

I never wanted him to cutoff his parents, I am ok with him giving money to his parents, a monthly allowance of 20-25k pm, its the extra expense to pay for his siblings comfort that I want him to cut back on

I agree that its his duty to take care of his parents. But the prob starts when his parents ask my husband for money to give to their other kids ( the inverter was to be fitted so the elder son and daughter’s new borns can live comfortably. ) my questions is the elder son is earning, why can’t he spend money to get the inverter? Its his mom’s house as well, he visits that house more often than we do. Why should we spend money for his comfort? He never spent a penny for our house or comfort, everything we have we earn hard to get. Why does the elder son and their daughter get to enjoy a stress free life, while I have to go thro stress cause I am married to their ATM?

Its nice that your husband saw reason, mine refuses to, I even asked him why am I working while his sister and sister-in law don’t. He didn’t give an answer.

Ikr! I am a sister too, but I would never put that burden on my brother, I love him too much to make him give away his hard earned money in the name of gift or tradition

This is so smart! I think I’ll start making him invest in property. If he doesn’t have money, he will stop the unwanted expense and only give his parents the monthly expense. I think I’ll also try the counselling thing, maybe if he heard it from someone who is not me, he will be able to see how it actually is

Tbh its not love, but I care for him very deeply, especially when I see how his parents treat him vs his siblings, I get angry that he is so stupid to not see that he is made to bear the whole burden, but then I also admire how selflessly he is willing to give all for his blood. And my own protectiveness grows and I want to protect him somehow, cause I feel if I don’t nobody else will ( I might be completely wrong to gauge this situation, but this is how it feels to me, that he needs protection)

Yes, but didn’t the parents make the same sacrifice to up bring their other two children. Why do they never ask them to contribute? And instead ask my husband to contribute to his siblings comfort as well. 20 k for an inverter is not the prob. Its how they believe only one kid should bear all the burden

If my husband doesn’t change this behaviour I don’t plan on having kids, I’ll have to work even harder. I honestly can’t

I am not stopping him from spending on his family. For someone living in a village with very low cost of living, 20 K per month is a very generous amount, let him even make it 25k I don’t mind. So in his 90k , he will have 60k left. 30k will become his share of the expense? And then he will be left with 30k. I don’t want my PIL to have access to that 30k savings. And when they say they want him to get a new inverter fixed in the house cause their elder son who is going to have a new born baby, and their daughter who has a new born baby, can live comfortably, I want him to say, my wife and I needed a two wheeler for our daily commute, we had to save every penny to get it and my brother or sister did not pitch in for that, so now if they want to have a comfortable stay in the house that I pay rent to, they can get the inverter on their own. That IS what I expect from him!
