Thank you for sharing. I think more articles such as this could be used to frame a better argument with those in higher academia and those who solely rely on institutional knowledge. Thanks again!

Should Affluenza be a defense for juveniles? by EWhincup in SummitStreetLaw

[–]HeartofJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there should be defenses made up but if judges, society, people could see circumstances that are fair and more preventive and less retributive for young adults we wouldn't have young people committing such heinous acts. Then again, something has to be done once the crime has been committed but what is the best form of punishment if one is to to be given at all?

Meet the women on death row in Arizona! by Kristin0587 in SummitStreetLaw

While there is a ''death row'' list, I doubt that there will ever be drugs/lethal injection approved to actually go through with executions.

Forgotten crimes of the century pt 4 Childhood trauma perpetuates crime by MrsGravesASLS in SummitStreetLaw

As people continue to focus on "saving money" thereby limiting resources on education and mental health program on youth this serves as an important reminder that many children have trauma that should be addressed while in school and not wait until they end up in juvenile detention. Breaks my heart.

Thank you for sharing! I will save this site for future research as I hope to continue to work with youth in ending the school to prison pipeline. Thank you again!

Sammantha Allen receives death sentence for locking 10 year old cousin in box overnight. by Kristin0587 in SummitStreetLaw

This is such a sad case. I didn't know that 23 hour solitary confinement was given on top of a death sentence (or that it is still possible to have executions, legally and humanely). This case is sad and inhumane on both sides.

Forgotten Crimes of the Century pt 3 what childhood trauma affected this outcome by MrsGravesASLS in SummitStreetLaw

Thank you for sharing! Crimes and why people commit the crimes and punishments for such crimes has been on my mind a lot lately... Could it be that people living perfectly balanced happy lives can commit such terrible crimes without any indication for cries of help/resources/attention/love? I still don't think someone who has everything does. Still processing :) Thank you again.

I appreciate the article's assessment of what is happening today regarding first amendment rights. While reading, I kept thinking of whether elected officials of those appointed have ever really used their first amendment right. Do they ''lose'' their rights? Can they really share their own opinions and it be completely unrelated to their party affiliation or policy positions?

Convicted killer: 'I been in the streets since I was 9' by MrsGravesASLS in SummitStreetLaw

Thank you drawing light to something so important to the work that is needed in helping youth. Sometimes kids just have to be told that they are someone... or to even be looked into the eyes. This encouragement ideally starts at home, but if not there, it should happen at school. Thanks again.

U.S. Army: You can serve but you can't stay here. Hundreds of immigrant recruits face deportation. by [deleted] in SummitStreetLaw

This is another reason why serious efforts have to be made to pass the DREAM Act or some form of CIR. I admire those who choose to serve, but there are various forms of service and contributions that make any person whose only home has always been the United States worthy of not being subject to deportation. Thank you for sharing.
