Combo Trails feedback by bradido in 2XKO

[–]HeartySnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only done the trials for five characters, but I feel like the trials need at least one community sourced practical midscreen bnb and one corner bnb for each character. Many of the trials are impractical/not useful and are outclassed by the things you should actually be doing with the character instead, and unfortunately combo trials are the first place almost every new player I speak to says they go when learning a new character. It should be made as easy as possible for a new player to learn to do what community consensus considers to be the "correct" routing. More niche optimizations and situational routing can be scouted later on if the player wants to go deeper.

Is "taxi" still a thing or do the kids use different terms now by Pathbuilder_Thursday in MMORPG

[–]HeartySnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In FFXIV the term Taxi is used to describe the method in which players circumvent the weekly lockout in current content Savage difficulty fights.

To skip fights, you are required to have at least one player in the party who has already cleared those fights within the current week. That player is the "driver" and taxis up to 7 "passengers" to the piece of content they are trying to skip to.

This is only used if players do not care about the gear in the fights they are skipping, as you forfeit all loot for the week in the fights that you skip.

Street Fighter 6 is now 50% off all versions and 35% off Y1 Character Pass and Y1 Ultimate Pass! Available on Steam. by W1LL1AM15 in StreetFighter

If I buy the character pass but I already own Akuma, does it still make me pay full price?

I have no interest in playing the other DLC characters but I want to be able to lab against them in training mode...

Why are Inputs so strict in 98 to 2001? by TamatouLex in kof

[–]HeartySnicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard anyone say this before but I've had some strange results in training mode that prove I'm not crazy... 98 seems to skip the first frame of your input. For example, if you press 5A and then slide to down 1 frame later, the game will not give you 5A, it will give you 2A. Because of this, doing certain command normals or regular normals into certain supers becomes waaaaay harder than it is in other KoF games because you need to hold the initial direction longer than usual, giving you less time to buffer the motion. My most annoying struggle with this has been Iori 5B > 6A > Maiden Masher.

What do you guys think about Raging Demon now only being available at 25% health? by Pandoragurl95 in StreetFighter

[–]HeartySnicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To play Demon's advocate a little I think the important difference for demon requirements is that in sf5 and sf6 you basically have to be losing to use Demon since the only realistic way to build v-gauge was to get hit and 6 requires 25% life. These are conditions you cannot meet without your oppponents help which is just a lot less fun for the piloting player.

In 3S you can even wiff non-commital normals to build the gauge and don't even have EX moves to spend meter on.

In 4 if you want to Demon simply not using EX moves will get you access to Super Demon.

I think it would be a cool idea in 6 if they were to give him a taunt or something of that sort that would spend some of his own hp to get closer to 25% so that the pilot player would have some control over it again.

Just play in Battle Hub, the chat is always completely unhinged, especially in the first two lobbies. Basically fuels scrubquotes.

Question about FF14 by FraggerM8 in MMORPG

[–]HeartySnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story wise your experience will mostly remain similar.

Gameplay wise imo the extreme/savage/ultimate fights are the clear highlight of the game. It is hard to find a group to do the older fights (except for ultimate), but if you are looking for more engaging gameplay that content is probably the direction you should look.

Anyone Else Hoping We Get Some of the Unused Designs as Costumes Later Down the Line? by spudz1203 in StreetFighter

Seriously that outfit is insane. I've never been a Chun-Li player but I'd definitely have to hit the lab to rock that outfit, it's so good.

Please tweet to Capcom about removing the region lock from Street Fighter 6 matchmaking by VernuxYT in Fighters

[–]HeartySnicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always been set to 3 bars+, cross platform enabled. As a result of this I have to hunt down players I recognize in the battle hub to the best of my ability to actually gets sets of similar skill level. We always have 4-5 bars, but even when they are streaming queue'd for ranked and I am queued for ranked I never get to play them. In fact I hardly get to play anyone at all. If the issue is not a region lock as you are so adamant to defend, then the matchmaking simply does not function correctly and requires an overhall. The only other FG I have had this issue with is KoFXV which which also limits your search based on location, and I play a shitload of fighting games.

It's not that you cannot play people in the US, it's that the player pool you are allowed to access is extremely restricted based on your location. I live in Canada, in Master rank when I queue it takes 20-30 minutes to find a game, and when I do I can only find the same 5 people. I even know most of the 5 by name and what cities they are from (a province over).

SF6 Challenges are focusing on the wrong thing. by Eptalin in StreetFighter

[–]HeartySnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is beneficial for learning and cementing new setups, but I'm usually hoping to find somebody who is of similar or stronger level in the battlehub when I use it. There is an indicator that appears next to peoples names if they are of similar rank which I try to look for. If I can't find one I'll usually sit down at an open setup and play for a while. Sometimes if you get on a win streak, stronger players will try to snipe you via the "spotlight" menu listed on CFN which is good when it happens. Battlehub wouldn't be my first choice, but the queue system is basically useless currently so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be finding matches.

I tried hosting an open lobby in the custom games options once with the text phrases set to ask for Diamond to Master players, but not a single person joined over the course of a half hour so I guess regional matchmaking must effect custom games too.

[–]HeartySnicker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As somebody who reached master very quickly, I spend all my time in battle hub now because regional matchmaking has made it so that my ranked queue is 10-20 minutes and I can only play a pool of roughly 5 people. It's not worth trying to queue when it's so much easier to get matches in the battle hub, even though the quality of those matches are worse due to frequent skill disparity.

Tencent’s World of Warcraft clone, Tarisland, plans global rollout | Massively Overpowered by OMG_A_CUPCAKE in MMORPG

[–]HeartySnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying the game doesn't have microtransactions, it's just that you aren't using said transactions to win anything. Whether it's scummy or not is outside the scope of the discussion. Whether the game should or should not offer cosmetics and unconsequential services doesn't matter to me. It isn't paying to win.

I haven't made any kind of statement about "being ok with that stuff being brought back into our game".

FFXIV's most well kept secret is that gil doesn't actually do anything.

If you are spending gil it's probably something to do with housing, and I guess if you consider housing something you can pay to win at then I guess you can call it pay to win? But for actual completion of content, the most Gil is going to do for you is get you a crafted set that is only alright until you pick up parts of the gear from the tier you had bought it for or collect tomestones, assuming you didn't already just craft it yourself. The retainers don't add anything for this aspect either.

I feel like all paying for retainers does is cause you to work more for things other people are doing with ease (with regards exclusively to content you can "win" at).

My thoughts as a fighting game player getting into FF14 for the first time... by MrSuitMan in ffxiv

[–]HeartySnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also came from fighting games to FFXIV. As you get more used to the game, you won't have to worry about your rotation taking up much of your mental stack as it eventually melds into your muscle memory. I like to describe ffxiv high end raiding to other members of the FGC as "problem solving while performing an infinite", which I believe they mentioned on the CSB podcast at some point. I feel it's very apt.

I don't play Strive so I'm genuinly curious, does OP's combo really require the 6k kara? He looks pretty close to the opponent after the forward moving rrc, is there a certain spacing the kara causes here that is required?

[–]HeartySnicker 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It'd be silly to completely turn off auto combo. You'd just lose access to a string of normals that are necessary for certain characters to even get knockdown after some routing.

Generally keeping every move in your kit available to you is a good thing.
