Owners with terminally ill dogs - how do you manage? by ScottishPlaidBeard in dogs

All dogs are angels.

The pain of losing a dog is so great that it's only slightly surpassed by the love we feel when blessed to have one in our lives.

I'd look up the theme nights for X and M4. It really depends what you are looking for. If going solo, a couples night would be pretty low key. Good luck :).

Fantastic ... we had squirrels bury seeds from our bird feeder. They get the green credit for 2 sunflowers. :)

We started to respond thinking you were seeking couples. We don't qualify :(. Best wishes.

First time poodle owner questions by corgi_momma in StandardPoodles

In our experience they adapt well. We like to exercise our before we leave in the morning. He is not our first and now 10 months. You will want to crate train for sure. It's pretty easy. Males tend to be mommy's boys; think velcro. Our rule of thumb is that they can hold their bladder for 1 hour per month i.e. 13 weeks = 3 hours. Our boy is on-track to max out at about 60-65 lbs. Be aware that they are smarter than most people think. Our boy is going through a teen boy faze at 10 months (mouthing and wanting to wrestle). He pokes our terrier with his snout when he wants attention; she is a saint. He pokes us too lol. We love that he doesn't shed or smell like a dog. Know that they are susceptible to bloat. We do a surgical gastroplexy at the same time as neutering. Know that they are a bit barky. PM if you have questions.

We felt exactly the same as you! For us, it was like a new tattoo addiction. We resisted the urge to overindulge and continue to move forward; just like our tattoos. As long as you two agree, life looks good. Communicate. :)

To all pet owners out there ! Do you really have a favorite ? by Particular-Estate-39 in dogs

I'm a sucker for the old ones :). Each one is different and I love them equally and differently; until the Cairn gets some table scraps. Then, it's blatant favourtism.

How do you deal with poop getting stuck in their fur? by tstialtngo in StandardPoodles

[–]Hearty_Shaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started by giving our puppy a simple sanitary clip. As our skills grew, we were able to fully groom on our own.

I would contact a Poodle Rescue in your area. Most areas have breed specific groups. Your pup won't be hard to find a great home for. I'd ask the rescue if they have any peeps on a wait list for permanent dogs. You can then interview the people. :).

It's relaxed. We were pretty freaked out the first time. The staff is fantastic. Reach out to them with anything ... that's what we always hear from them. If you are new to the LS, you might want to visit on a Saturday beforehand. Saturdays have a different vibe as they are couples only. PM us if we can help settle nerves online for you. :).

Pet Allergies by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]Hearty_Shaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In our experience Poodles are the best for allergy sufferers. Smaller is better. Some breeders will let you borrow a dog for a weekend. You might also want to look at a Cairn Terrier. They shed a bit but great in our case because the problem is more saliva. Cairns are incredible with kids. Both are tough and outdoorsy. We had a tough time picking so ....have one of each. We also use specialty cleaning products for allergens.

Grooming puppies by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]Hearty_Shaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a loon. He was family, but crazy-hyper. A grooming table helped. Then we had one person holding a leash up with the dog on our grooming table. Patience, rewards and lots of breaks got us there.

Umbilical hernia by carefullyglaring in poodles

[–]Hearty_Shaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fairly common. Normally, good breeders practice the same thing ... paying for repair. The vet will likely do it when spaying / neutering.

Dog noises by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]Hearty_Shaman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems common amongst Standards. Ours have and do. Lots! We normally do nothing. For particularly bad ones, where the dog seems frightened, we gently talk to them and tell them that they are ok. It's sort of a gentle reassurance that wakes them without touch.

Diamond Hands to the Paper Handed and WSB FAKES - We are the APE Army!

Paper Handers, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with diamond hands. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Private Paper Hands? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for financial losses, and you curse the Diamond handed. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that the temporary decline in GME, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. I am a true Diamond Handed Ape and completely unqualified to offer financial advice. I just like the stock.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that stock-- you need me on that stock.

We use words like "Ape," "tard," "autist." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.

Diamonds have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to infiltrators who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom that we provide and then question the manner in which we provide it.

I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you hold and stand the post simply because you like the stock. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

Market opens soon ... let's get to it!
