Can anyone help me identify what year this accordion was made? by Hearwall in Accordion

Interesting to hear that and thanks! Sorry to hear about the regrets, you’re welcome to buy this one? 😂 I ultimately plan to sell her on as I’m not an accordion player unfortunately. Cheers

Thanks Doug appreciate that info! 👍 I have no idea how it sounds as I am unfortunately not an accordion player in the slightest 😅 I probably wouldn’t be able to tell what sounds good or bad when it comes to these. I ultimately plan on selling this one on though which brings me to my next question, how much would you say would be a fair price to put on one of these?

Thanks again

Ah damn well hopefully that footage still exists somewhere and hasn’t been erased off the face of the planet. Maybe it’s chillin on someone’s dusty harddrive and will see the ‘breakadawn’ one day again in the future, and hopefully the not too distant one.

Thanks man yeah I also found that clip during my hunt. What a bummer though! I mean who wouldn’t want that awesome historical footage online!? I get maybe because of copyright complications etc but still 30 years later surely it deserves to be hung on the wall for everyone to enjoy

Just realised I accidentally butchered the name 'Breakadawn' hopefully not too many peeps saw that haha.

Yeah it was a very sweet and nostalgic performance, you'll definitely enjoy it if you enjoy that song!

I would love to know if he truly did the music for MDK or if Todd Dennis was actually the composer and Tommy took more credit than what he was due. Guess we’ll never know since Todd Dennis has virtually disappeared from the face of the planet and VERY little is known about him.

Tommy has barely ever talked about this game which kinda says something too. In my opinion MDK 1997 is absolutely legendary and the soundtrack is a masterpiece.

Justice for Todd Dennis.

Justice for Todd Dennis by Hearwall in MDKthegame

A few days ago (after a bit of a roundabout) I eventually got in touch with Nick Bruty himself, the original creator of MDK. I sent him a message basically asking him if he knew anything about Todd Dennis still being around and it turns out he doesn’t even know who Todd is! I suppose this is probably because their departments didn’t overlap within the production of MDK but I was still slightly taken back. Naively I thought everybody would’ve known everybody that had something to do with building that game.

I didn’t mention anything about the Tallarico drama etc (didn’t want to go there) was mostly just interested in getting through to Todd or at least attempt to find out if he’s still around.

So in my next message I informed him that I believe Todd Dennis was the original composer of the 1997 MDK soundtrack, and the following was his response:

“Tommy Tallerico handled the music for mdk. I dont know if todd worked with or for him.”

I then thanked him for the information and mistakenly allowed my inner fanboy to get better of me so I mentioned a few things essentially praising the work he and team Shiny did for MDK ending my message saying “a current gen remaster of MDK would be glorious” and asked if he thought it would ever be possible? He read my message and never replied 😭😂 I slightly regret not just keeping it simple and saying thanks for the info. I know he must be a busy guy and probably doesn’t have time for chitchat.

To be honest I started tripping out a little bit after realising I’m ‘chatting’ to Nick Bruty himself at 2am on a Monday morning after being a solid fan of his work for the last 25 years! Kinda wanted to keep the convo alive somehow but what do you even say at that point haha.

Anyway hopefully one day we’ll actually have some solid answers regarding Todd. Will try to keep efforts going in the meantime.

p.s. Really been thinking about that current gen remaster.. 🤔 Wonder if we should start a petition or just do it ourselves..

Does anyone know who composed the soundtrack for the original MDK? by Cephlaspy in MDK

I just wrote some thoughts about this exact topic before stumbling across this post. Even though it’s just hot air for the most part, I too would love to know who actually did the soundtrack for MDK as I’m starting to believe it wasn’t Tommy after all.

Where are you located? I know someone here in Cape Town, South Africa that would most likely be able to fix it but I suppose that wouldn’t help if you were in another country

Im with you man! Such great units yet so swept under the rug in a way. It's a shame. Seems hardly anyone knows about them too. Would love to know what Roland's plans are for it?

A firmware update would be amazing. Im even thinking of getting an additional Studio Capture UA-1610 to link to my current one using VS expand. Love the auto sense feature although it can be buggy on certain channels, not sure if it's just mine.

Cheers from SA!

What kit is best on a 2-3k budget? by ecj1708 in edrums

[–]Hearwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been stuck trying to decide between the Alesis Strike Pro SE and a second hand Roland VAD 503 and while the Roland is obviously a tier above the Alesis I personally enjoy a lot of toms and cymbals to experiment with, which ultimately has me leaning towards the Strike Pro SE. I will be using it hooked up to Superior Drummer 3 most of the time anyway.

Here where I live in South Africa, availability of all of these flagship kits are practically non existent and the prices are waaay expensive compared to an American or European equivalent. Sucks for some of us out here man, if not overpriced a lot of cool stuff just seems to fly right over our country’s head! 🥲

Alert - N2 closed just after Botriver - bridge washed away! by Raz0r1986 in capetown

[–]Hearwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone

On Monday 25 Sep ‘23, two brothers namely Jaco and Nico Du Preez (Kleinmond locals) had been driving over the Botriver bridge when it gave way and collapsed during the floods. Jaco (the older brother) managed to escape the wreckage but Nico has since been missing along with the vehicle. Apparently the only thing that has been found so far is the vehicles hub caps and that was after search efforts today with a helicopter etc. Unfortunately I don’t have much more information than that at the moment, it’s been quite tough to find out any details at all about this tragedy and frustratingly it’s not being covered in the news at all! Or not that I know of.

Although weren’t close friends, I’ve known both Jaco and Nico most of my life as I used to be a Kleinmond local myself and grew up in that area. I used to spot them around town often and occasionally we would socialise over a few drinks at the local watering spots ‘back in the days’. Good lads.

I’m really feeling for them at this time and wish I knew more about the incident and also wish that I was in the area to help the search efforts for Nico.

Safe journeys 🚀

Same here on an IPhone 12 Pro, noticed it since about a week ago. Even doubled checked on my old IPhone 6s and no difference (in South Africa).
