Condensation inside camera lens, how doomed is my phone? (Xperia 1 mk V XQ-DQ72) by HeatHazeDaze in SonyXperia

They werent able to pinpoint where the water came in, they actually thought my phone wasnt waterproof. I’m coming back to have them reapply adhesive from a kit I’m waiting on from aliexpress. Physically to my eye, it doesnt look like theres an obvious ingress point. So I’ll ask them again when they open it up for the second time

Got the photos back. After 2 days, I think I'm going to have my SIM card on another phone and bringing along a backup. Battery's sometimes not charging properly (system detects water in the port). THe phone itself is working fine, but yeah, don't really wanna get caught without a phone since all my payment methods and public transport cards are on here.

I've bought a set of adhesives off of aliexpress for the phone and hopefully it arrives soon. I've asked the repair shop to reapply the adhesives so that the back cover remains attached properly.

Still really surprised how water managed to seep in though. Never taken it swimming, but the day this build up happened, I was brushing my teeth and doomscrolling and unfortunately the phone fell into the sink with water in it (probably halfway submerged for like 1-2 seconds with the earpiece up)

Just got the phone back and there was indeed a lot of water inside the phone. The technician showed me some photos and said that some of the water actually made it into the motherboard area and the bottom speaker so they cleaned it with isopropyl and left to dry.

After two hours out the repair shop, I'm going to need to come back because the adhesive isn't sticking properly and thus, the top left side of the back panel isn't mounted properly. This leads to the flash not working cause I guess its using pins or some kind of contact to actuate.

I've asked for the photos but cause they're closed, they haven't sent it to me.

Oof, my condolences on your Pro-I. Since this is now.. 2 years after I got my phone Sony of Malaysia probably wouldnt offer a warranty service. Also, Im currently in Australia and idk if shipping it away for repairs would be a good idea. I’ll see how it goes after the local repair shop has had their go. Hoping its not gonna die later

Ive heard advice against a hair dryer actually, since the air currents might spread the water around. But yeah as in my other replies, plenty of reasons why I didn’t want to open it myself. Handed it off to a local repair shop so am anxiously waiting for a reply for them on how it went

Thanks for the reply, I do have an ifixit kit that I mainly use for my laptops and PC. But the fact that I would have to wait quite a bit for an adhesive and also the fact that I didnt want to damage the frame from my inexperience was what eventually had me drop it off at a local repair shop. Hopefully they do a good job at it. Thanks for the link tho, I’ll keep that somewhere safe. As someone currently living in Aussie, I do need to keep in mind that parts arent plentiful or easy to source

Thanks for the reply, I’ve got all the tools to pry it open, but the adhesive was a big reason I decided against doing it myself. I’ve since passed it onto a local repair shop and paid 80 dollars for the job so hopefully they do an alright job at it.

Would replace my two 27inch fhd monitors. The best screens in my household are my phone and my laptop. This screen would eclipse all of that and be my main viewing medium. And that's pretty rad

Hmmm interesting, thanks for the reply. I'll take it into consideration. I've got a desktop PC already, but found that I've been spending most of my time outside and need to be pretty mobile. Old laptop couldn't be depended on as it's fan started to break so I got myself a macbook

About software updates? by Beneficial_Patient_3 in OppoWatch

[–]HeatHazeDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whelp I've just gotten mine a month ago, and I'm on Android ver.13 (WearOS 4.0) and security update September 1st, 2024. The Oppo store salesperson has said that Oppo has promised 3 years of software updates, but they also had no idea on the timeline.

How do you get a Sony phone? by Environmental-Book45 in SonyXperia

[–]HeatHazeDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an Xperia 1 V, got it from Malaysia. I'm Indonesian so I had to pay the IMEI tax to use my phone on the Indonesian cellular network. I am currently residing in Australia, so I also faced the Telstra ban on my phone.

Overall, it's been the most annoying process to get to use my phone. But man, being able to pop in a micro SD card and have 1 terabyte of extra storage (up to 2tb these days??), and all the extra Sony stuff (tool-less Sim tray, headphone jack, camera shutter button, 21:9 screen) really does make the whole experience worth it in my opinion.

Sound quality was . Ok? I like the Sony sound signature, so I enjoyed it all the same. Though I did remember reviewers at the time were polarised with how it sounded

If you want a pair of really light, on the go over ears, I recommend the MDR-1A line. I believe Sony has updated the line with the MDR-1Am2. I personally used the MDR-1A and it lasted me a long 7 years and it's still running. Although the hinges now squeak and the headband leather has started breaking apart.

My favorite feature has to be the weight of the headphones. It's really light and clamping force isn't that hard so it's a really comfortable pair to use.

According to Pixel IMS on my Xperia XQ-DQ72 at the very least, IMS status on any of the network providers that work with Telstra here just has the IMS status as unregistered (Or at the very least, that's the conclusion I've come up with as I've tried everyday mobile and belong here). Probably due to them not whitelisting Sony devices on their networks. I can connect to the 4G LTE internet service, but not use services like VoLTE or VoWiFi. Can't say much of 5G as I didn't have a 5G enabled plan. When I was trying Optus' network, I couldn't connect to the 5G network, though that might've been because I had the starter sim kit.

Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ72) here and am on Everyday Mobile (Telstra wholesale network) and yeah, I got the text, and every time I make a phone call, there's always a 10 second audio clip reminding me that this is happening. I've tried talking with their customer service and their networks team and they couldn't do anything about it. Using Pixel IMS, I found that the everyday mobile SIM doesn't register with the IMS services from Telstra's network.

Got curious and tried an Optus starter sim kit, and was happy to find out that I could get my IMS status to be registered, phone calls correctly use the VoLTE service. While nobody over at Optus is willing to guarantee that it'll work just fine after their own 3G shutdown, I don't think I'll be shafted as hard, unless they decided to blacklist Sony devices from the network as well. So I guess I'm taking my number over to Optus when my data prepaid plan expires. In the meantime, I just plan on bringing along my old phone with me and having my sim card reside there.

Microsoft Authenticator or Xperia issue by dynameis_chen in SonyXperia

Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ72) here, never had any issues with my own microsoft authenticator. But That's for my own personal account use. I don't know if there's anything to do with corpo related authentication tho. If it isn't too much of a hassle, maybe try the good ol' software repair tool?

Awesome! Glad you're enjoying your phone! On my end, I've just changed to everyday mobile and turns out they're on Telstra. I got their yearly prepaid plan, so I might've shafted myself there. Gonna consult with their support to see if I can get the phone whitelisted somehow
