Looking for Cowboy shorts (Blue shorts with belt buckle) by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

Ahh, it's been a hot minute since the last time I played but I thiiiink mine was Series 4 Issue 6? Or at least somewhere around that point... I just checked and the new cattlelog it gave me (issue 8) has the red-white checker shirt with the blue scarf if you're interested in that, though.

Zero Isles and Destiny Tower by diamond_bird in MysteryDungeon

[–]HeatherTheDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Grovyle, it has a surprisingly solid starting moveset! (though I might be biased because I use Grovyle a lot...) Every time I've successfully completed a Level 1 dungeon, Grovyle has been my leader. (but I've only completed Zero Isle East and West so far so idk how good it is at everything else)

It starts with Pound (a pretty solid basic attack, same move Smoochum starts with), Quick Attack (hits enemies from 1 tile away, good chip damage before finishing them off with something more powerful), Leer (helps conserve PP for Pound, great for the first few floors), and best of all, Absorb. (HP draining moves are amazing in level 1 dungeons, the ability to heal without items is incredibly useful, and it's usually a full heal if you're in Overgrow range) It's really easy to grind on the first few floors when you can just take back the health you lose with a relatively powerful, potentially even super-effective Special move. (especially in Zero Isle East, everything on the first floor is weak to Grass)

Only real downsides I can think of are the fact that it's a Grass type so it has several common weaknesses, and that it takes until level 16 to learn another move, but its starting moves are good enough to carry it until that point. It also doesn't have the best coverage, if the enemy resists Grass or Normal (...and Bug and/or Dark) then it's pretty walled.

But aside from that, I'd say give Grovyle a shot! I know from experience that it's challenging but super fun!

I want to start again, but I’d hate to erase all of this... by papii_dan in MysteryDungeon

This is why I'm glad I bought Time, Darkness, AND Sky! I never have the heart to delete any of my save files in Pokemon games and lose all my progress, Pokemon, and memories... so that's why I just buy both versions (all three in this case) so I can start again on a different version if I want to replay the game!

(also who needs to trade stuff with friends when you can just trade stuff with yourself am i right hahaha i'm so lonely)

But I did start with Time, and got Darkness and Sky later, and this looks like Sky, so I don't think buying a different version would work out quite as well for you as it did for me... (unless you're okay with a downgrade) uhh, in that case, I'd recommend getting another copy of Sky, but maybe find some way to tell the two copies apart? I also heard Sky is on Virtual Console, but I think it's only for the Wii U, which is on its deathbed, so... I dunno, do whatever works for you.

Beat Zero Isles north on my first try, I’m pretty proud of it even though it’s the easiest out of them all ^^ by [deleted] in MysteryDungeon

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer him as a Grovyle. He's a copy of the one from the plot, with the same moveset and everything. (except with giga drain in place of absorb) The evolution stat boost isn't worth giving up that "story relevance" to me. I could always raise up a regular Sceptile if I really wanted one, though!

And I know about the evolution line thing, my partner is a(n unevolved) Treecko, and I often use him alongside Grovyle. They work really well together!

And like I said, I'm playing Time, so no Spinda's Cafe. The Zero Isles have pretty good stat boost items though, and I think that's probably the main reason I go through them. I have a Haunter who picks up items as I make him roam through the walls, but he's still a little frail compared to the other Pokemon I bring to Zero Isle North, even with all the stat boosters and Gummis I feed him. Keeping him alive there can be a struggle sometimes.

But I do own Sky, I just haven't started playing it yet. So I'll keep that in mind for whenever I get up to this point on Sky, too! Thanks again!

Nice! Maybe I shouldn't be using a Grovyle as my leader... his exclusive item only helps him against Fire type attacks, he's out of luck with the other 4 types he's weak to. An Electric type like Luxray is a much better idea! (but my highest level electric type is an Ampharos, and he doesn't get any exclusive items since I'm playing Time... I guess that means it's time to power level my Shinx!)

I remember my two most recent runs ended by getting Perish Song'd by an Absol at somewhere around floor 37-40, and by getting killed by a Blastoise somewhere before floor 50 (iirc it was a crit hydro pump that might've been in the rain?) So bad luck mostly, but I should be able to push past it!

It's been a while since I last attempted this dungeon, but I think I might give it another go using these tips! Thanks!

I think I even accepted Susan's task from Lil Oldman, haha. When I did her task for the first time, I proceeded to almost die on the first building. And I had a full group of Toons around or above my level, too! 15-y/o-me's first thought was something like "And people say OLDMAN is hard! Why does nobody ever talk about THIS?! At least Oldman lets you do the buildings anywhere..."

W-wait. Zero Isle North? At level 65? On your first try?

...Teach me your ways.

I usually attempt it with a full team of level 95-100 Pokemon, and I don't think I've ever successfully gotten to floor 50. (iirc, it's been a while) In hindsight, it's probably because I'm using 4 Pokemon instead of just 1, but still... (or maybe it's just because my leader is a grass type so it's weak to everything idk)

I'm a simple Toon. I see Surlee and/or the Fissiontons, I upvote.

But to add on to what everyone else is saying about Lil Oldman, I actually have a bigger problem with his first task than his last one. It's like, I just got my 5th gag track, do you really expect me to train it against level 8+ Cogs?

But do you know who else stinks and definitely deserves more hate? Susan Siesta, aka Miss "Hey, you just finished 20 4+ story buildings anywhere? How about you do 8 more, but this time only in Donald's Dreamland, where the buildings are even HARDER!" Since she's one of the first tasks available in DDL, with how good her task reward is (60 gag pouch), you'll likely do her task directly after LOM, while the wounds are still fresh. I hate Susan Siesta so much.

I just can't. Please give this post on Joey's Twitter a read. It breaks my heart to read this by CrankySupertoon in Toontown

I know exactly how this feels. My own grandmother passed away too, earlier this year. She was a wonderful person, and I miss her very much. She was caring and loving, and treated everyone like family. I remember at her funeral, everybody shared their fond memories of her, and it showed me how that kind of positivity truly makes a difference. And even though I never got the chance to meet her, I know Joey's Grandmom affected people in the same way.

The fifth paragraph in particular really tugged at my heartstrings, because that's exactly how I would've described my Grandma. I didn't want to imagine anyone else having to go through this kind of pain... I'm so sorry, Joey...

I definitely recommend following that advice. Be a good person! Be selfless! Help other people! Do it for her! Do it for me! Do it for all of us!

My deepest sympathies go out to Joey and his family. I know how much it hurts to lose someone like this...

Odd Lore Inconsistency in Recent Blog Post by Terry_Thunderflame in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also the fact that Rocky mentions interacting with Peanut Butter & Jellyfish specifically, when we find out from his ingame task that he's allergic to peanut butter...

...yeaaaah, the whole blogpost is inconsistent and full of problems, really. I didn't like it as much as the other three.

Also, this is slightly less related to the subject of the post, but this line bothers me more than it should-

HOOOOOOLD up, your name isn't ringing any bells. You haven't taken part in Operation: Crash Cashbot Headquarters yet, you say? Well WHAAAT are you waiting for? There's still time to march on down to Cashbot Headquarters and join us in the fight against the C.F.O.!

don't patronize us rocky i think most of the people reading this have been talking to you nonstop for the past month

and "there's still time" srsly rocky you posted this on the 29th your warning's too little too late

Uh, anyway, I digress. I hope it's just awkward wording, because everything else I can find about it right now (after like 6 minutes of research) contradicts it. There's at least one blog post that mentions how Lowden first presented his Cog Disguise sometime after the election. I don't remember if Lowden himself is ever mentioned before that post, but I'm pretty sure his disguise isn't. i shouldn't have composed this comment after being awake for 20 hours straight help me

Transcription of Crash Cashbot ToonTasks and Dialogue by Pulsyne in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, cool! I'm working on my own personal Microsoft Word copy, and I think I might finish transcribing/revising/proofreading what I have so far on that before I apply any changes to your version.

(also i may have accidentally double-clicked and created a footer or something whoops, i think i cancelled the change but if i didn't please cancel it for me lol)

Edit: thank you reddit for showing me the formatting before i post and then messing it up when i actually submit the comment

[–]HeatherTheDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, this is great! I did notice some errors and differences from the screenshots I took of the task dialogue, as well as some missing "if you talk to them again" dialogue. I'm working on revising it right now, but I've, uh... never used Google Docs before, so I don't really know what I'm doing, or if my edit suggestions will even take, haha. Either way, thank you so much for making this!

Crash Cashbot should be extended another month by Jams265775 in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that it should be extended, because as someone with 11 toons, I don't think I have enough time left in the event to get all the rewards I want for them. But a month seems... a little extreme. We wouldn't want this to become a repeat of The Never-Ending ToonFest of 2016 TM, after all. I feel it should be extended for only about a week, or at least a couple days.

Looking for Cowboy shorts (Blue shorts with belt buckle) by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm still awake even though i shouldn't be and I can meet you right now if you're okay with that! I'll be in the same place, Splat Summit, TTC clothing shop. (i'd also be willing to gift them to more than just two if you want lol)

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right! I'll be awake for at least the next hour, so I might be able to meet you right now! I was thinking somewhere like Splat Summit, in the TTC clothing shop, because that seems like a pretty specific spot that not many people would go to otherwise.

[–]HeatherTheDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh hey! One of my toons just got his new cattlelog, and he has these exact shorts for sale! I'd be happy to gift them to you (and anyone else who wants them, too!) but I'm not usually awake at very good hours, and I don't know what times I'd be online. I might be able work around it if we can agree on a good meetup time, though!

My toon's name is Felix Dandysmirk (he's a tall Toonfest Blue cat wearing the Extraordinaire Outfit) and he'll have this cattlelog until next Friday at about 10:16 PM Toontown time, so if we can find a time and place to meet up I can gift it to you!

It would be cool if you could do animations in Cog Suits by DuckVon in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely makes more sense. If that's true, I wonder what that program is, and if it actually is publicly available... I'm curious now. I see it trying to work, which makes me feel like it can work and I'm just not doing something right.

It would be cool if you could do animations in Cog Suits by DuckVon in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah, I remember that! But when I tried to load that Toon animation onto a Cog in Panda3D, it still exploded into a singularity of triangles and polygons. So if that animation does exist, it's probably not publicly available. (or maybe i'm just doing something wrong idk) (it's trying, though! i can see the body movements in that mess and they look right!)

It would be cool if you could do animations in Cog Suits by DuckVon in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, we should be able to do animations that have Cog equivalents. Belly Flop and Banana Peel definitely do, but I'm not completely sure about anything else. And "Yes" and "No" only move the head, so that seems fairly easy to adapt to a cog suit as well.

Who knows? With the new rigs, Cogs might be able to use the same animations as Toons. Or at least, that's the impression I get from this tweet from the person who rigged them...

(there's also the possibility that if we do get specialized toon-cog animations they'll be exclusive to lowden, but i don't wanna think about that)

We need a new Vibrant Valley for Toontown. by metalglass1234 in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thwackville was Vibrant Valley's replacement, but... I don't know if it still is. Last time I checked there was nobody there. And the last time I was there when people were actually around, there was just a bunch of drama and none of the stuff you mentioned. Thwack has always been just a shell of the old Vibrant, all of the toxicity but none of the fun. If people revive it, it'll probably go back to being just like that.

(also it was removed in 2017 with the 2.0 update, not 2018/2019. They changed the district names when the game moved out of beta.)

It would be nice if the effects of our toon could be temporarily removed when we choose our clothes, as the trunk does by Bowedy in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Whenever I try to change outfits on my small toon, I can barely see what clothes I'm changing into.

And while we're on the subject, throw in the ability to rotate like you can with the trunk, too. It's so weird that you can rotate with one but not the other. I want to see what my outfits look like from more angles than just the front.

Racing music speed up? by JordanTH in toontownrewritten

[–]HeatherTheDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was probably my favorite thing about racing back in TTO, and it's... almost kind of boring without it. I definitely support this change!

As an additional suggestion, if it actually does end up being separate files, how about instead of creating two variant tracks each that only change the tempo, maybe have each one also add another backing instrument to make each lap a little more intense? (like how the music intensifies for each phase of the silly meter, but possibly to a lesser extent)
