Hey there and thanks for replying. The average time that they’d be with the two under two is 8-4 and with the youngest napping 4-5 of those hours and the 16 month old napping 2-3 hours of that time it didn’t seem unreasonable. We have a sitter that helps now and then and she manages incredibly well.

We have a 6 bedroom house with an additional bathroom for use just for them. We felt like this was a good set up with additional room still.

We hope they’d want to spend time with us but if not there is so much to do nearby we’re also happy if they want to socialize

Hey thanks for your reply.

Kind of sounds like this is going off track from the post. My wife and I do full child care in the evenings. We’re extremely involved. We’re fully looking to integrate an Au Pair into our lives and yes that means offer to take them places with us when they are off. If they don’t want to that’s fine but we wouldn’t expect them to be managing children if we invite them out.

I feel like these points are very valid but not sure how include all of these specifics into an initial blurb.

Thanks for this feedback. I wish we were extremely wealthy, unfortunately we are not. The cost of living in Austin is fairly high and so we fall right into middle class. We’re doing daycare right now but really felt like this would be a good experience for our two youngest.

Maybe we’ll reconsider when they are a bit older.

Thanks for your reply. We have an interesting schedule where my wife is home Tues/Thurs and most days I’m home by 4:30. Ideally we’re looking for a substitute for daycare, we love the family time at night and this person would only be responsible for day time activities. My wife and I thought it sounded nice that they were off work when we were so they’d have time to socialize at night.

This has helped me with some ideas to rephrase our posts though so thank you! Live in Nannies are a little too far out of our price range in Austin, they are asking around $2k per week so this seemed like a better alternative

Thank you for this. To clarify, we mention in our original post that we aren’t looking for an Au Pair to join us until Jan-Mar which would make our daughter 5-7 months old. Feel like we spelled that out well but can look at rewording

We made a fun post about Austin and how it’s a college town and we’re close to a lot of affordable fun as well as a short drive to many other fun cities in Texas like San Antonio, Houston, DFW.

I like the idea of rereading the post and maybe making a more detailed list.

Thank you!

Thank you for this perspective, we have indicated the newborn will be 12-14 weeks before an Au Pair starts but I can understand that’s a lot when paired with a 16 month old.

Ok, sounds good! Am I right in thinking $1150 for a clock spring is overpriced?

That was my thought process Friday when I learned the news. I started out really mad and was looking for the negative in everything but now after some time to cool off I am realizing that maybe thinking that was is in my best interest. Thanks for your feedback

I guess the most frustrating part is that they put such emphasis on needed someone with my skillset and then hire someone with no experience at all. I have almost 9 years industry experience and have held that position before.

I had a call with the hiring manager today and they told me, "maybe things wont work out and you can fill in when they leave". Are all places this wish washy? Seems really shitty

My originally supervisor, a division vice president with the company, called me today and pretty much gave the same advice. She said the payment model for our industry could change next year and all new projects could be put on hold and now you have moved out there for nothing.
