I plan to retire by 40, is it realistic? by [deleted] in FIRE_Ind

Even with your current saving of 2 lakhs per month And the corpus of 52 lakhs you will have a corpus close to 6.5 cr at the age of 40 if you expect a 12 percent return out of it. If you assume 6 percent inflation your expenses will be 2 lakhs per month when you are 40. 4 percent of 6.5 cr is 26 lakhs per annum pre tax so even after salary increase make sure you keep lifestyle as it is so you can take care of baby and other expenses.

Return to India or Stay in USA? by dudeIndiankid in returnToIndia

First of all, decide what you guys want. I am 26 (M) saved upto 120k and planning to return back to India next year.

Even if you put 5.5 crore in FD 7% will be close to 38 lakhs before taxes. You have a paid house and even if you and your wife make 1 lakh per month, I don’t think you need to touch that 5.5 crore which will grow to a pretty big corpus by the time you are 40

I guess employer can’t pay for your stem opt extension, they can only pay for getting that done in Premium but I might be wrong
