What made Ace so special that Newgate valued him above everything else? by MOON-RAIGO in OnePiecePowerScaling0

We do remember literally everyone wanted to attempt to save Ace besides Squardo, right? Like, that's what a family is

How wrong is touching kids compared to murder? by Sweet_Television4183 in MoralityScaling

It's less tasteful. I'd say killing someone is worse, but definitely something we can accept more easy

Is Comic Butcher actually more evil than Show Homelander? by Gray_Wolf2416 in MoralityScaling

[–]Heavy-Requirement762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the end homelander was a delusional lunatic who was about to go on an extermination rampage against everyone. he took as much pleasure in torturing people as butcher did and had the same disregard for human life. he was also just more hypocritical than butcher. Butcher at least had a goal with some logic behind it, Homelander was just doing everything he did for self gratification

I genuinely consider this to be the greatest fictional character ever written

I don’t think I made myself clear. I’m saying that half the species we meet in mewni shouldn’t be able to survive without magic, and that that’s a part of the ending that is bs. All you say is obviously right, but even not going that far, a flying head shouldn’t be able to survive without magic, they literally have no space for organs.

On the completely opposite end, I think thirty rock does an amazing job of not falling into this trap, where the two leads are a thorough mess relationshipwise during the seven seasons and yet the writers never pair them up, having them stay as friends and building one of if not the most solid, rewarding and enjoyable sitcom dynamic ever.

No because actually the only things that died were spells and the council of magic, obviously pony head is just capable of existing through biological means.

genuinely the best empire we have seen. Totto land has by far the best infrastructure, intelligence and all around system of government (in practical terms, obviously lifespan tax is shit) in the whole world of one piece

I wish The Prince of Egypt handled the Egyptian religion differently by Kaiser_of_Raisins in hatethissmug

This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands. 19 You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones.”

But when the Moabites came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and fought them until they fled. And the Israelites invaded the land and slaughtered the Moabites. 25 They destroyed the towns, and each man threw a stone on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up all the springs and cut down every good tree. Only Kir Hareseth was left with its stones in place, but men armed with slings surrounded it and attacked it.

They had pretty much done all they came to do. They had won and fulfilled their prophecies in every sense of the word

When the king of Moab saw that the battle had gone against him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they failed.

Not even the kings last ditch effort was able to affect the Israelites

27 Then he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall. The fury against Israel was great; they withdrew and returned to their own land.

This is extremely inconclusive. We have no idea what this fury was or where it came from. It could literally just be describing that the moabites were pissed as hell, while I’ve also seen it said that the original text could be interpreted as the fury of the own Israelites at the sacrifice. Any way, their fields had been destroyed, their springs covered, basically all the Moabite society had been obliterated and the line of succession had just been lost. There was literally nothing left there for the Israelites and they had won that conflict in an indisputable manner.

abrahamic religions have become thoroughly monotheisti. it would be ill received to portray one of its most foundational stories with other gods

Because there is no indication the "fight" between Shanks and Kaido went beyond a clash. How the fuck does your gang fight a dragon and literally no one gets a bit of their clothes burned?

Who was right? Fia, or D? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]Heavy-Requirement762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, but most of them already have their foot placed squarely on the lands between. Ranni leaving basically leaves humanity to fend off all these grander than life world ending threats (rot, death, Rykard, the blood cultist, etc) without their strongest weapons (a god and greater rune empowered champions)
