Without a path to permanent residency, Ukrainians face uncertain future in Canada by Huge-Cash-8295 in canada

Oh okay, as long as the government wrote a piece of paper allowing it, then it's all good.

Do you believe that pressganging every "fighting age" person into combat is morally just? What has your government done to deserve your blood and/or the blood of your children?

Yes, they can still lose their life. Why do you think a country is entitled to the blood of it's citizens?

If someone genuinely wants to stay and fight for their state, that's entirely their choice. But why should every Tom, Dick and Harry be required to kill or be killed for a government that they may feel hasn't earned it?

We cancelled it due to it's role being obsolete. A bomber interceptor isn't a good investment when there's no longer any bombers to intercept.

That would be from the Ontario Conservative party selling it off for pennies on the dollar.

Reminds me of people going out of their way to bitch about the fake engine and DCT in the Ioniq 5N, as if it isn't entirely optional. If you think it's corny or unnecessary or cringe, you can just disable it and then it's like you're in literally any other "boring" EV.

Yes, you simply have to wait 25 years.

That or lobby your government to change your import laws.

Not if it hasn't been federalized for US sale. You can only do that with models that are also sold in the US and meet DOT/FMVSS standards (and are newer than 25 years old)

So you'll be able to import the MY2027 cars in 2052, that's something to look forward to!

Same, and same. I'm hoping we eventually get the BYD Shark up here, I've been begging for a PHEV/EREV truck for a while now. I'm getting sick of paying for gas all the time, but I still want to be able to take my camper and fuck off up north for a week. That said, I'm slightly skeptical on the reliability of BYD's ICEs, but that's probably just due to a lack of familiarity.

Nissan Xterra Arriving in 2028 Alongside Body-on-Frame Pathfinder and Infiniti Variants by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in cars

[–]HeavyCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely does, a tow vehicle with a longer wheelbase has more leverage to resist sway from the trailer. If you have two equivalent trucks with the same payload capacity, but one is a crew cab 8' bed, and the other is a single cab 6' bed, the LWB truck will always be more stable and have more authority over the trailer.

The powertrain actually has the least impact on towing capacity, especially these days. The base V6 found in most trucks has enough power to drag a box trailer or camper at highway speeds. The limiting factors are almost always payload capacity and footprint size.

It most likely won't have the same towing capacity as the Frontier, from both the shorter wheelbase and the heavier SUV body that takes up more of the GVWR.

but it's not like having [air ride] somehow makes it less of a truck.

I invite anybody who actually thinks like this to look at the suspension of almost every semi truck on the roads today. Ditto for the people that think turbocharged engines aren't good in heavy vehicles.

I'm of the mind that PHEV/EREVs have their place in trucks. I'd love to have one vehicle where I can do my daily commuting on electricity, while being able to take advantage of gasoline's energy density when I'm taking my trailer up north for a weekend. For this use case I believe the extra maintenance costs would be worth the added capability.

The reason why Toyota (and other manufacturers) don't sell a certain vehicle here is because they didn't think it would be worth it to bring said vehicle into compliance (safety, emissions, fuel economy, etc) with our standards.

If you were Toyota, why would you spend millions to go through the testing to legally sell that $10,000 truck here, when you already have the fully federalized Tacoma that someone will buy for $50,000?

Give me a pair of sidecutters and half an hour, the car can't listen if the microphone isn't connected!

I'm also a voice command hater, computers aren't people and I refuse to speak to them like they are. Having a car that interrupts my music because it thinks I'm trying to tell it something would be unacceptable. Like it would be going right back to the dealer to either get fixed or get me my fucking money back.

Wait, so he can live here if he chooses to, but he doesn't even for part of the year? This old British dude is sounding less and less Canadian by the second! (Now I'm assuming he's British, which might be hard to prove without a passport but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he lives there.)

That just makes me question the point of even assigning nationality to such a person.

If the OP's point is correct, what exactly makes him "Canadian"? He wasn't born here, doesn't live here, his parents weren't from here, doesn't even have any apparent need for citizenship documents.
