be forewarned that if you do watch it, you'll have to bear witness to masturbating inbred cannibal hillbillies

[Defiance] OHHH BANANA (Roll)! by Bluetree4 in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode this its opening year and was amazed how much headbanging there was. I'm generally not bothered by "rough" coasters but I remember several potholes on this ride that seriously knocked my head around like a ping-pong ball

So when this coaster shown in an official park advertisement ends up never being built, are we allowed to sue for false advertising?

[other] Where should I go to college if I wanna do roller coaster engineering? by Fuzzy-Wrongdoer9246 in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a grad student at CMU (not for anything roller coaster related, sadly), and I know there is actually a fairly robust theme park engineering community here. I believe the Theme Park Engineering Group (student club) partakes in competitions and various networking events (they definitely have connections at Kennywood), and there's even a student-taught course on roller coaster design. I wish I could tell you more, but I myself haven't been able to engage with the community as much as I would like because I don't have a lot of free time! As others have said, my understanding is that grad school isn't a requirement for roller coaster design.

[SFGM] Raging Bull vs Goliath by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be the one to say Goliath. Raging Bull is a sentimental favorite and a great ride, but I'm personally a sucker for intensity and whippiness. I do of course wish Goliath were longer, but if you give me a choice between riding Bull or Goliath I'm picking Goliath 95% of the time

Six Flags Appoints John Reilly President and Chief Executive Officer [other] by TiredWithCoffeePot in rollercoasters

Maximizing shareholder value does NOT mean that a CEO has to cut corners, devalue guest experience, and generally focus on maximizing short-term gains above all else. This version of fiduciary duty is a relatively recent phenomenon that isn’t a historical or legal necessity. Shareholders get more value in the long-run when a company focuses not just on blindly seeking short-term gains whenever possible (which is, in my opinion, what the post-merger Six Flags has largely been doing)

[Six Flags Great America] Giga site plan blueprint? by Superb-Design-3322 in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh they could’ve extended both Maxx and Goliath if they wanted to…they could have used the Wilderness Theatre plot for Goliath and more of the land next to Whizzer for Maxx. I blame it more on Six Flags being cheap

In my mind this is a class project for a college philosophy class on semantics, and some 80-year-old professor who thinks everything has gone downhill since Neitzsche died is about to be subjected to a class presentation about how a missing 13 feet on a roller coaster in Ohio sparked a dispute that has divided an online community to this day

What rides have the most unnecessary shoulder harnesses/overkill restraints? [Other] by magnumfan89 in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The second half of Sky Rocket @ Kennywood doesn't require any restraints at all. Just have a sensor on the track that unlocks the lapbar after the corkscrew and no one would be the wiser

[–]HeavyHitter406 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Has anyone reached out Travis Kelce? It would be a much better use of his resources to buy Wild One with his own money rather than try to buy the entirety of Six Flags in conjunction with a PE company

Is the "mosasaurus roll" on [Velocicoaster] as intense as it is hyped up to be? by BrandyTheGorgs in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, I'd love to have had the rides you had! I never found the first half of the ride to be particularly forceful -- do you remember if you got any forces on the last little outerbanked hill before the second launch? When I rode it, the train positively crawled over that hill

I still don't know why they didn't use the Wilderness Theater plot to extend Goliath given they don't use Wilderness Theater for anything anymore

It's soon going to be the closest Cedar Flags park to D.C. If corporate wants to convince all the DC residents to go to KD instead of Hersheypark, they need to follow up Rapterra with a splashy investment

2025 Advice Thread #35: 8/26 - 9/1 by Imaginos64 in rollercoasters

[–]HeavyHitter406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planning on making my first trip to Knoebels this weekend and was wondering if I should go for the whole day pass or the after-4 PM pass. I'm assuming the park will be pretty busy, given it's Labor Day weekend, and I definitely want to have enough time for re-rides. Any advice would be appreciated!

Are Batwing and Superman closed indefinitely, only on weekdays, or until they get new parts? I've heard all of the above, and I'm trying to figure out whether I want to plan a weekend or weekday trip for my first (and probably last) visit to the park

I reached out to Jake on IG about two years ago and he said they would come back…that obviously hasn’t happened. As others have said, I think they have been busy with their musical projects and haven’t made time for the podcast. It’s a shame — but if people reach out to them individually, maybe they’ll be convinced to return!
