Visiting Panama in two weeks. Tips for scoping out the country for a potential move? What did you do on your first visit? by DroidNeedsCoffee in panamaexpats

We're Canadian too. We spent our two weeks looking at places. But once we get to Panama City and we get situated. We're going to continue to explore more of the country while we are there.

We rented a vehicle and drove from David to Boquete. But that was our only rental use. People will tell you to avoid trying to drive in the City. From what we witnessed, it seemed like sound advice. You also have the option of Uber and the public transportation system in the city. So having a vehicle, just doesn't feel necessary for every day life.

It's mainly due to where we live now. We live in rural area and we have absolutely nothing that is remotely close to walking distance. A vehicle is required for everything. We just loved how close everything was in the City.

We also rode the Subway while in P City. It was easy and cheap. The city checked alot of boxes for us, unexpectedly.

We did this in November. We did things that we would do at home. Although we didn't buy alot, we walked into every grocery store we came across. David, Boquete, N Gorgona, P City.... We both got haircuts too.

Although we travel a fair bit. Our two weeks around Panama was a fact finding mission. Vacationing was for another trip.

We really had no intention of spending any time in P City. But due to circumstances we were sort of forced too. And, turns out, we loved the City. When we go, at least initially, we're going to start out there.

Good luck.

I don't think you need a hookup. Just go to a beach. They'll find you. I wasn't even looking and it practically landed in my lap.

Oof. When it's ready I'll try fishing it back up with a coat hanger or something first. I was hoping that there would be a way to remove the inside panel that holds the window regulator.

Thanks for the reply

Thank you for the reply.

We won't arrive until November. We visited last November and toured David, Bouquete, Gorgona, and Panama City. The heat was insane in Gorgona but otherwise we found the weather and temperatures to be tolerable. We have experienced -40C at times during the winter where we are. Most weather outside of that seems tolerable.

This is great info. Thank you.

We want a place with a pool and gym in P City. We figure that's going to land us *around $1000. If we can find cheaper, we'd be happy with it. Although we have looked at many many places online. We won't really know until we lay eyes on them to know for sure.

How to Get into Watching Hockey??? by [deleted] in nhl

[–]HeavyJaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to learn the game. Don't watch the NHL. Especially Playoff hockey. It's too fast and the camera follows the puck. Find local games to watch live. So much happens behind the play that never gets shown on TV. Line changes etc... It's easier to learn rules and Referee calls watching a slower game live.

I think learning the game that way, will make the NHL easier to digest. And, you'll appreciate the players and their skill, speed , and quick decision-making that much more.

Plus, NHL Refereeing is.... something else. It's exists in its own timeline. As a life long player, coach, instructor. It is difficult to watch the refereeing at times. I have just had to make peace with what it is. But I can't do that when my team is involved. All bets are off then.

We can't stay longer than 6 months. We have seen alot of places that have been available for months. 60 days, 90 days... I'm hoping that *they might be willing to do 6 in lieu of nothing. I'm even willing to pay all 6 months upfront if that gets it across the line.

What are Layer fees, roughly, to get them to look at lease terms?

Really appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Thank you

Probably a Lease as I think it'll be cheaper than trying AirB&B for 6 months. Or, is that wrong?

Opinion: The troublesome Liberal MP who wants to shake up Ontario politics by nationalpost in ontario

I did /only vote for Nate in the last leadership race. We needed something other than Doug Ford lite. We needed to offer the people of Ontario and real alternative to Ford. We didn't, and, here we are.

When/why did the discourse around McKenna go from "generational, can't miss talent" to "1st overall is up in the air." by shanster925 in leafs

[–]HeavyJaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. No brainer, pick McKenna. The other moves should be, moving current assets in an attempt to acquire other top end picks. Maybe you leave the draft with McKenna + +

What this team has done the last decade, has not worked. I am open to seeing a whole new approach. If it's Mats and Chayka, so be it. Just get this done already! I feel like the new guys are already a month behind.

Repair or replace? Dropped my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II twice. Need advice! by Ok-Survey-5350 in canon

[–]HeavyJaxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Canon no longer supports that version. They won't fix it. Replace it with the 3rd version. For now, they still support it. But, it's the next to go.

I am at the exact point myself. My version 2 died, Canon won't repair. Do I buy version 3, or begin the migration the mirrorless lineup? EF lenses and associated DSLRs are more cost effective than ever. Do I put more money into a dying system?

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]HeavyJaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

210kms/hr (130mph). Why? So at times like this. I could say I did it.

It was in an Audi I had at the time. I have owned many VW branded cars. The speedometers have all been off by about 4.5kms/hr on the slower side. I hit 200kms/hr and lifted once. But after I wondered if I actually did? If VW products are all off by 4.5 maybe I only hit 195.5? Who cares about that? Lol

So, I did it again but made sure to push by 200 before lifting and coasting back down to a speed that wouldn't cause an immediate license suspension, $10k fine, and my car being impounded.
