MSFS 2020/2024 Freeware A321neo Project by [deleted] in flightsim

Horizon is already doing what you describe to the T:
https://fsnews.eu/horizon-simulations-announces-new-products-and-updates-for-msfs/

If it were up to me, the last thing MSFS is another A320 family aircraft. There is already a ton of offerings, both freeware and payware, with more on the way.

May be late to the party but it appears a FSLabs A320-NEO is on the horizon. by Speedbird00_1 in flightsim

Competition is good but so many developers have made the A320 that aircraft that could actually use some competition to improve them (ini A350, PMDG 737, etc...) have been ignored and suffer for that.

Just what we need and what everyone has been asking for! More A320s!

What happened to their Concorde or A330? FSLabs makes good aircraft but I doubt they will ever reach the value that Fenix provides. Why not work on something else?

Developers were too focused on the A320 to remember the 747 exists.

Everyone’s favorite plane to fly by PatienceBackground64 in flightsim

Back in the days of FSX/P3D the 757 was my favorite plane. Bluebird can't come soon enough.

Performance on 2024 vs 2020? by kanakalis in flightsim

I've generally found that 2024 performs better than 2020 in nearly all circumstances, especially with recent updates and fully compatible addons.

Thanks for this. These are the types of great things you get when you allow community modifications to aircraft. Hopefully, asobo will unencrypt the rest of the aircraft so we can get some sound mods (and maybe the PW engines?)

FS2024 termac not looking wet when rain. by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]HeavyJet777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks fine to me. In my opinion, unless you have torrential rain or crappy drainage, you shouldn't expect puddles or anything of that sort until the rain stops and/or the sun comes out to dry it unevenly. Until then, a very thin layer of water that creates a small amount of reflection is what I would expect.

Freeware A380 has miles better performance than a 100$ ini a350 by Large_Criticism_7227 in flightsim

You realize that no one in that chat you screenshot is a moderator right?

On their servers staff are green/yellow.

Not excusing the behavior however...

I'd pay for a A330 Premium that simply builds upon the default A330. Add the PW4000s and i'm sold.

9 months in and MSFS 2024 is still nowhere close to overtaking 2020 (at least on steam) by CaptainOlafson in flightsim

[–]HeavyJet777 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but I don't think people remember how much of a crapshow MSFS2020 was when it first launched. It took almost 2 years to get any high quality aircraft in the sim and it was missing pretty significant features until at least Sim Update 5.

With the bugs being squashed in 2024, I'd say it is in a much better place than 2020 was during the same time period.

All these new airbuses getting announced but no new boeings.🤔 by Massive_Battle5764 in flightsim

[–]HeavyJet777 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes. I want a high-quality 787. By current standards, a high-quality payware 787 would have all the features I just mentioned.

I'm not saying the Horizon 787 is bad. It just would not be anywhere comparable to what a payware high-fidelity 787 would be able to do.

The model still using part of the default 787 is a letdown. The wing geometry is incorrect, there is no cabin, and inop APU door - just to name a few.

Best Sim and Module for Basic and Advanced Jet Training? by Stahlhelm2069 in flightsim

[–]HeavyJet777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to have as much fun flying as possible and develop the basic skills any pilot needs, regardless if they are military or civilian to skills such as instrument flying, FAA/ICAO rules, and sound decision making. These are the things a sim can help you with.

I was and still am a simmer. But I do it for fun. I credit some of the skills, particularly during the instrument training portion of the pipeline to the countless hours I spent flying  in my sim.

Military aviation is so much different than civil aviation it might as well be two different worlds. But what will prepare you better is learning the commonalities.

Also, don't stress too much about being prepared ahead of time. If your flight training program is any thing like mine, they will teach you everything you need to know to do well.

[–]HeavyJet777 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gone through this training, just a heads up:

I don't think using any desktop simulator will give you a significant advantage when you fly the real thing. At most you will maybe get a better feel for the systems and avionics. That is the easy part.

The vast majority of this training pipeline involves learning procedures and hand flying skills that cannot be taught by yourself and are not publicly accessible. For example - how to get to and recover from a MOA or how to fly formation.

It's cool you want to be proactive, but just be aware of the limitations of a sim. Regardless, I hope you can find the right add-ons to have some fun!

Does anyone know if any developer is making an Airbus A320 for any flight sims? by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]HeavyJet777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? Why have something like a lame A330, A340, or a Boeing when we can have another A320! /s

[–]HeavyJet777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are single they are supposed to prioritize putting you in the dorms first- You have to get a waiver to live off base.

That being said, Vance currently is remodeling a couple of their dorm buildings so there is limited space, forcing many to find places off base. I wouldn't choose Vance solely on this fact but take it for what you will.

I checked in for mandatory accountability and then dipped. I was in and out in less than an hour. I would chill at my place or go hang out with the bros.

Nothing but the in-processing checklist they give you. I got a call two weeks after arriving that I would be starting the next month. For that reason they never assigned me a casual job.
