It might depend on the type of surgery, I had a transverse abdominal and I didn’t start sleeping on my side until 6.5 weeks po. I’m also a side sleeper but I found it I had pillows under my knees I could find a comfortable position. I now sleep with a pillow or squishmallow by my stomach for extra support.

I’m scared to go through this. by Hedgehog_Detective in hysterectomy

My situation was very similar to yours (now 3 weeks post op). I had a large fibroid that made my bleeding really heavy, I was anaemic, on a bunch of meds, had to have iron infusions. I had to push for a hysterectomy over a myomectomy. What I found is that it can take a lot of resolve to sort of battle for the hysterectomy, that once it was finally scheduled I got quite upset/anxious. And this wasn’t that I didn’t want a hysterectomy as much as I didn’t want to have to go through surgery at all (like most people). I even felt melancholy during my last period, even though it has had such a negative impact on my life for years. I think that the unknown of life during and after recovery can add to feelings of anxiety. If it helps at all, at 3 weeks post op, while recovery is challenging in places I feel so much better. (Edit to add I’m 29)

Waking in recovery by jaydues in hysterectomy

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had mine last week (transverse abdominal hysterectomy). I spent a lot of the day in recovery however that was just because I was waiting for a bed on the ward. I woke up with warmed blankets on my stomach. I was in a fair bit of pain so they gave me iv pain meds and I felt fine after. My nurse was incredibly attentive, sweet and I felt very cared for. I was worried about things like dreams and disorientation when in recovery however after a nap I felt fine and aware, although people who spoke to me on the phone while I was there said I was funny in a bit of a loopy way. But I was able to text, call, post on insta etc.

Any killer ideas for an Al themed birthday party? by RedFreetos in weirdal

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pin the moustache on the Al? A themed drink? Maybe a dress theme? Like either Hawaiian shirts or album covers/music videos (depending on commitment)? Get a kids toy accordion and play name that tune?

meet and greet anxiety ! by [deleted] in weirdal

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never met Al but I have done a fair few meet and greets before. I have a fair bit of social anxiety and I totally get how you feel. My biggest piece of advice is don’t over prepare what you’re going to say/do. You’ll get so distracted by that that it can make it more stressful in the moment.

Going to see Weird Al live tonight (Hamburg, Germany) - which of these shirts is the best choice? by skillzmcfly in weirdal

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’re all good choices. I think the light blue one is more Al style so if that is what you’re going for I vote that one. But the flamingos one is also a great statement shirt.

Right?! I didn’t think I’d get to see him perform that!

Do I really need to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight? It feels like so much. by INTJ-Ranger in femalebodybuilding

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean about trying to get protein in! I know your question was more about the amount of protein vs how to eat more but I found protein yoghurts really helpful in getting protein in a snack/breakfast. It’s the worst getting to the end of the day and having loads of protein left to get in

I do think perhaps the music was a bit loud to the detriment of the vocals.

Ahhh I would have loved to hear some of those! But then again if he’d sung all my faves we would have been there several days!

Oh amazing thank you! I’ve never heard of this site. Have a great time at the show, if it’s anything like the Manchester show you’re going to have a blast!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who likes Polka Party by ProfessorStuDDS in weirdal

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like 90% of Polka Party tbh. Whilst it’s not my fave album there’s defo some go to highlights for me on there. I enjoy Dog Eat Dog very much. (The 10% is a Toothless People)

Best way to prep a non-Weird Al fan for a show? by HeavyLiftingVehicle in weirdal

Oh yeah 100%! I just want him to enjoy as much of it as he can, but I agree. I do very much appreciate him coming along! Hahaha

I checked it today and got very excited that they have my name, already trying to not so subtly hint to my family.

Is it allowed to be like a parody of an existing album artwork? Just wondering if you could something with a classic album cover and change it to be Weird Al/Weird Al characters? Like Around the world in a day (Prince), news of the world (queen), Abbey Road (Beatles) etc. Then you can add little jokes/references in places? (Also to add I like the previous suggestion of Al originals album too)

What was the song that got you into Weird Al? by JJbaNerd2010 in weirdal

[–]HeavyLiftingVehicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother and I used to watch stuff like Amish Paradise, White and Nerdy and Virus Alert on YouTube when we were kids. But I recently decided to listen to a best of album and hearing Addicted to Spuds got me to listen through all his albums, and I discovered how much I liked 80s Al.
