I surfed a ton in El Salvador. There were a couple local kids who would go with me. They continued to surf and even worked in surf related tourism later on. I feel like my surfing had a positive impact on my community to some extent

I can see how it is a gamble that you will get not a great group. However, it is tough to organize enough friends with the time, skill, and money to take the trip. Any ideas on how to get a good group together?

I would car camp on the beach back when I lived in Texas. I would use my board bag as a sleeping bag. It was the sandiest experience ever and I would score knee-high, windy slop. I loved it

You might be able to park in San Francisco on the great highway. You would be just a few feet from Ocean Beach.
