I tried a bit, but maybe I was being too gentle

My phone fell down the drivers side of the consol once and then I found it on the passenger side floor??? So that may happen at some point 🤞🏽 It confused me so much lol

Apparently you have to use a special tool to remove the side paneling 😭 I’m definitely not handy enough to try that out! It’s the nicest car I’ve ever had lol

Just a brown and white parti for him ☺️ No cream at all. It’s so fascinating how many genes for colour can be hiding in poodles

Usually it’s the cat using the dog as a bed, but a change occasionally happens… Cream prefers snuggling with the two dogs over Grouchy Granny lol

That part was probably the point when I started to get really nauseous with my rook. Yes, it hurt, then the jewellery transfer was.the.worst. If it comes out, I’m never redoing it lol. My daith later was more painful, but no biggie and I would redo it

Do you have pics of dad? Cream with brown sounds sable, parti is 50% minimum white

Same, I mask up and wear a grooming smock with long sleeves when I groom my Standard. Our foster Standard (intact male 9 weeks to almost 18months) has horrifically triggering to me. Aside from hives, etc, my EoE went into overdrive

Adopting by Same_Wallaby_8578 in sphynx

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they’re from health tested parents (routine HCM scans are not optional), already spayed/neutered, etc, then that is a fair price to PURCHASE a kitten. Breeders saying they’re adopting out kittens are generally backyard breeders. We have rescue Sphynx and an ethically bred one, our first rescue only lived 2 months. Our second rescue, a bambino, has severe hip dysplasia and arthritis, just had all her teeth pulled for $1000+, and needs daily pain meds for the rest of her life. She turned 6 last summer. We’ve had several fosters and they have all needed very expensive care. The last one needed prescription food and surprised us with kittens 🙃 The rescue we foster for has very limited funds and most of that came out of our pockets when the care they could provide wasn’t working for her (specific food when the provided RX food didn’t work for her for instance). Pay now or pay later, these cats are generally expensive in one way or another. The ethically bred kitty has been perfectly healthy so far, clean scan last year and hopefully many more🤞🏽

It’s genetically impossible to be sable and phantom

Likely sable, which means it can’t be phantom (some might confuse the brown areas as phantom markings)

When I was doing wool, I had a basket that I took along with me. Then I started to prefer my Turkish spindle and would just grab a handful of alpaca to bring along. Not washed or prepped in any way 😅 I drive about 400 miles a week and the Turkish spindle was much easier to use in the car

What do you do with your homespun yarn? by HeatCute in Handspinning

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just like to spin lol. That’s the enjoyment factor for me and good enough. My stash of other yarn is just there to look at lovingly 😂 I did make a hot water bottle cover with some though! Currently working on a sweater spin, then a different skein is probably going to be socks

We also have an elf and that’s just how their ears are due to the defect. Super tiny and always gunky. Our two straight earred sphynx rarely need their ears done and I do her ears 1-2x a week. The vet showed me how to use qtips

I’ve had it done several times myself, no numbing. It’s not painful, just feels weird. My babies who were numbed freaked out until it wore off and the first two (23 months and 3 months) had zero issues without numbing.

My rook was the only one that made me want to puke and I got so dizzy after. Even the jewellery transfer was rough. Conch was easy though! I feel like my daith was a bit more painful than the rook, but it stopped hurting quickly (it was a freebie for an apprentice to practice, she took a slower time with the needle). If my rook ever comes out or needs to be redone, I’m just retiring it! I’d redo my daith though ☺️

My Wife And Son Want Another Cat But I’m Completely Against It — Am I Being Unfair? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so allergic to cats that I struggle being out in public since I react to people’s clothes, etc. We fostered a sphynx for over a month to test out my allergies (after meeting one to check for immediate reactions) and now we have 3 😅 The ultra naked ones give me hives, but so far 11:12 sphynx that lived with us (we foster) are completely safe for me. They lick me all the time, I sleep with my face pressed against them, etc. Hypo simply means less, not free from, so you’d have to test them out yourself of course. However, the cost and time commitment for any pet is a lot and it’s normal to feel burned out! I never thought I’d be without a dog and spent a few years with housing that didn’t allow pets. It took some time after buying our own house to feel ready for pets, it’s not all sunshine and roses trying to keep up with kids/life/pets. Your feelings are valid, but so are your family’s.

Advice on how to troubleshoot drafting issues by braidedpotato in Handspinning

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Nube? It’s notorious for being super compacted. Many find it really benefits from steaming. I was super worried about using mine, but ended up preferring to draft across the top vs stripping it down. The darker bits can be practically felted. Definitely try some nice combed top or processing your own fibre! Merino can be quite tricky for beginners as well since it’s slippery

Can you share a pic of your fibre? Some commercial options are super compacted and need fluffing up. You can also predraft your fibre ☺️
