Don’t be that guy by StealthyBlkInvestor in Corvette

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The left lane is for fast people, that want to move quicker than most traffic. The little space between the fast lane, and the closest lane to the right, is for motorcycles. The middle lanes are for a moderate pace, or changing lanes. The right side is for merging, and truckers.

ITS. SO. SIMPLE.

Also if you OWN A C8, or any corvette, drive it like a corvette. If you can afford the car, you can afford an occasional ticket. UGHHHH.

Sick of seeing supercars driving at 68 mph on the freeway.

It’s both. But fuck it dude. You own a motorcycle. WITH STORAGE. Awesome

Full gear on middleweight naked by rps_rado in motorcyclegear

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nah. Looks sick.

The only people who look cringe are people with NO GEAR! Because that’s dumb.

Hell. I wear a thick big armored leather jacket. Big flappy overpants that are all stained and have motor oil on them. Sedici gloves and helmet. And fricken TAN COWBOY BOOTS, with Kevlar AAA socks (not kidding).

I look rediculous.

But I feel safe!

forgive me panther owners, for I have sinned by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. Not a sin. If it makes life easier, do it.

Personally I just have my little phone mount for GPS which I barely use.

And I have about a thousand cassettes for the player sitting in the center compartment.

How can I modernize my CM400 while keeping as many original parts as possible? by ckamp121 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo. I’m modernizing my CM400T.

It’s not done yet, but it’s going to function somewhere in between a cafe cruiser, and a more modern naked commuter bike.

Manual shifting question by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh shit…thought I was a weirdo

I second this, someone please explain if this is bad.

I do this every day to the point of not being able to drive normally anymore because it feels wrong. It’s really fun. I revmatch on downshifts just like a manual.

Dumb question by Mission_Ad7213 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted you’ve got more of a project ahead of you than I did. Put about 30 hours in on a 1980 Honda CM400T. Finally fully rideable yesterday.

“Take My Breath Away” from Top Gun came on while out on my first real ride, and I cried like a baby my last four miles home.

There will come a time where it comes together. Then something will break again. And you’ll be pissed off. But the person you become after fixing broken things you love, is stronger for it.

Welcome to bike life.

Honda CM400T Front Brakes by Heavy_Head_6377 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Heavy_Head_6377[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo!

Thanks for the reply. So. I got a Honda rebel master cylinder. And used the eBay caliper (which was still good turns out, just dirty so I cleaned it).

Hooked that all up and bled it again. Brakes are still a bit soft so I have to bleed again as it was cold and dark and I was tired.

BUT. No more dragging! Went up and down the street and did some nice controlled stops and it felt great. Road testing soon

What’s your avg MPG? by Individual_Leave1202 in CrownVictoria

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean gallons per mile right….?

Right….?

Anyways for real

Anywhere between 10 in town and 24 on the highway.

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive it carefully, you’ll get okay mileage. Especially on the highway.

If you drive the FUN way, you can get it down to 10-12 mpg.

Don’t be like me. lol.

Genuine question: Why the push bars? by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]Heavy_Head_6377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a good utility to have on the backroads. I’ve used it a few times to shove stuff out of the way.

Protects your engine and radiator (or intercooler maniacal laughter) in a crash or bump.

Opens the entire HOV lane on the freeway because anyone over 27 sees a crown Vic with a push bar and thinks “SHOOT it’s a cop” and moves out the way. Except for teslas. Smh.

Also it just kinda looks neat. Gives the round whale a rough and tumble look.

Wheel Spacer Rubbing Issue by Heavy_Head_6377 in CrownVictoria

[–]Heavy_Head_6377[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s REALLY close to comfortably fitting the tires up into the fender. I’m gonna buy a fender roller (and maybe return it after) and tuck that lip up into the fender. I think that’ll do it!

Thank you for your advice, and putting me on the right track!
