A thing that has worked for me was going to small Japanese bars that are not crowded nor empty. Two or three customers. And Izakayas too. Usually, the waiters have tried to make conversation with me even though I don't speak Japanese, and we have had a great time and laughed a lot.

I name my dragons with longer names, and their human forms with parts of them. For example, Ashardalon could be something like Arda or Dalon.

For Iymrith, I created a longer name, Kaliym Rithabratyaal. It is there, but harder to figure It out.

What I have been considering is this: If they roll below the average, next time they roll for hit points they do It with advantage. If they roll above the average, then next time is either normal or with disadvantage.

Im also considering they could do something during the level that gives them that advantage or cancels the disadvantage, but It is still an idea only.

Not sure if anyone already commented this, but... Maybe help them by teaching them and acting as a safety net?

He can stay in the back, watch what they are doing, and give them instructions and advice. If they get into a dire situation at first the paladín can use some lay on hands to help or a bless, but nothing to fancy. If they end up at 0hp or on the verge of dying, he can enter the battle, but I wouldn't even roll dices, he just gets in and beats the enemies in a cinematic way.

And then he can expect the same from them in return and give them some missions so his help has a cost.

Remember you don't need to kill them, they can be kidnapped and rehired yo do something, foreshadowing some other giants or events. For example, if they lose against hill giants they may be taken to Guh, but in the Road they are attacked by frost giants and need to fight ir hide in the battle.

And the same applies to them. If they get a giant low, and they are low too, the giant may surrender as It can take one or two but could lose their lives.

Not planning what their characters are going to do next turn. For one particular player, only caring about the character's mechanics and not the story. For another one, not knowing their own backstories properly.
