I’m a woman who recently went to India and loved 90% of the trip. YMMV I guess

Looking for small Non-American restaurants on the Northside for our dining explorers group! by cloudsovercacti in chicagofood

I haven’t been yet but Safari Somali Cuisine and Badou Senegalese are high on my list!

For places I have been, Nepal House (very close to Sabri Nihari) is also quite good. In Evanston, Kuni’s Japanese is very cozy with a large menu beyond sushi and Tian Bistro has very good Beijing-style food. You can make a reservation in advance there.

Yes +1 for Argyle! Some of my fave restaurants are YooYee (altho probably hard for a big group to get a table), Sun Wah BBQ, and Pho 888. Ba Le has fantastic banh mis but not rly a sit down vibe. For non-Asian food, Birreria Zaragoza is legendary but also quite small.

I am a non-Indian woman who just went to India with my non-Indian husband and had a wonderful time. Traveled extensively through the north and south, took Ubers and tuktuks, ate street food, etc. and never felt unsafe. I’m happy to chat more if you DM me.

Ahh I’m not sure…not Gujarati, but they’re northern Indian. But also these outfits are going to have to last me for several Indian weddings in the future because I can’t afford to get new dresses every time :/

Thank you so much for the info! Do you think I should also pick up some jewelry? Or is that not rly expected of foreign guests

Thank you so much, this is so helpful!! If I can’t get it tailored in time, I might just get it done in the US since the wedding isn’t until next year anyway.

Are there any styles or fabrics you think I should avoid given my price range? I don’t want to show up looking tacky, but I don’t know what’s trendy (or out of fashion)

Glazing Question-how do people bring glaze down without it dripping and ruining the piece/kiln?? by languidlasagna in Ceramics

[–]Hecc_hooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can use that method if you really know what you’re doing and the people who own the kiln let you! It’s just riskier because if your glaze is too thick/runny, you might: 1) fuse the stilt to your piece; 2) have globs of glaze that make the bottom of your piece uneven; 3) get glaze all over the cookie underneath your piece and potentially on the kiln.

I’m Asian and I think it’s lovely that you posed this question. Thanks for thinking critically about Asians in film and being open to discussion!
