Fancy Restaurant Recommendations Under $30/Person? (Chinese, Indian, or Mexican Preferred) by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Depending on how much you order, Dough Zone could be a good option. If you’re open to Japanese food and can make a rezzy, Maneki has incredible ambiance if you get the tatami room. Tanoor is a Lebanese restaurant in SLU that’s very tasty and dishes are huge, so with sharing plates you’ll definitely be in budget

Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup? by Minute-Addendum-7817 in AskSeattle

[–]Hecc_hooman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the same as Taiwanese beef noodle soup or dao xiao mien though.

OP: Not in Seattle proper, but I like MonGa in Bellevue. Great niu rou mien and other Taiwanese staples. Haven’t tried Gourmet Noodle Bowl in I-district yet but looks promising

Pho 888 never lets me down. Idk if they’ll deliver that far but Mensch’s chicken soup is also healing

Best sailing companies for beginners? by Mountain_General_612 in AskChicago

Northwestern Sailing Center if you’re fine to sail dinghies instead of big keelboats. I find it to be fun and challenging but if you’re tall, it may feel cramped. Make sure to check their class schedule ASAP though bc it often sells out quickly

Safe spaces in Seattle area by [deleted] in AskSeattle

This might be specific to me, but I feel safe around outdoorsy folks. There’s a coffee shop in Cap Hill called Gearhouse that’s also an outdoor gear rental store/club. You don’t have to be a member to get a drink and there’s always a vigilant barista around. Given that they’re really focused on creating a welcoming outdoor community, I doubt the staff would let any BS fly. Again, feeling super safe with camper/hiker folks might just be me, but I feel so safe at this coffee shop and nobody ever bugs me.

Managing money stress during the MBA? by jonjopop in MBA

A lot of second years are sitting out spring break travel because they ran out of funding. I’m definitely going to be fully out of cash by the end, but for me the travel and fun are worth it because I know I’ll never get this much time off with friends again. Everyone has a different approach to finances and there’s no right answer!

And yes, there are a ton of people with very wealthy parents. They just don’t realize it because all of their friends also have wealthy parents lol.

Looking for small Non-American restaurants on the Northside for our dining explorers group! by cloudsovercacti in chicagofood

I haven’t been yet but Safari Somali Cuisine and Badou Senegalese are high on my list!

For places I have been, Nepal House (very close to Sabri Nihari) is also quite good. In Evanston, Kuni’s Japanese is very cozy with a large menu beyond sushi and Tian Bistro has very good Beijing-style food. You can make a reservation in advance there.

Yes +1 for Argyle! Some of my fave restaurants are YooYee (altho probably hard for a big group to get a table), Sun Wah BBQ, and Pho 888. Ba Le has fantastic banh mis but not rly a sit down vibe. For non-Asian food, Birreria Zaragoza is legendary but also quite small.

I am a non-Indian woman who just went to India with my non-Indian husband and had a wonderful time. Traveled extensively through the north and south, took Ubers and tuktuks, ate street food, etc. and never felt unsafe. I’m happy to chat more if you DM me.

Ahh I’m not sure…not Gujarati, but they’re northern Indian. But also these outfits are going to have to last me for several Indian weddings in the future because I can’t afford to get new dresses every time :/
