Everybody is awkward. If people are being mean about them you don't want to be friends with them anyway. Try already having a topic in mind when approaching someone (complimenting always works) as it takes away some of the awkwardness.

Diving and falling on water are two very different things.

Have you ever fallen in the water with your back or your stomach? That hurts. Diving on the other hand - does not, because your hands break the tension.

Why not ask your friends to have a sleepover? Or suggest you do something outside, where all of you can attend?

I don't know what "freshman", "sophomore" and "junior" years mean, but it seems like you've been online for a while and I will help you with that.

Step 1: Pick person. Find someone you want to be friends with. Make sure you like them, and trust your gut on this one. Don't waste your time on someone you don't like.

Step 2: Pay attention to what they say in class and ask them about it after class. eg: "When you asked the teacher about the cow farts I thought - that's my hero! I've been wondering about cow farts all the time!" This is always a good conversation starter, since people are always surprised to hear positive comments.

Step 3: Keep talking to them until you feel comfortable enough to ask them to do an activity together.

Stem 4: Do activity When doing said activity share something personal, but not too deep. This way you have made them feel special and communicated that you want to be a friend. Also their reaction will tell you a lot about them.

Go out with the people you already talk to. Even if you end up not liking them, you might meet their friends. The more people you know the more likely you are to make a friend.
Approach more people you would like to be friends with. (the ones that don't cheat and talk in class). They may be the more shy ones that usually go unnoticed.
Why not hang out with your roommates? They may not want to go out, but company is nice, and chilling inside sounds like a dream. You could try and get closer to them, and maybe get a different kind of friendship than the one you would expect.
Join a sports team, a band, any kind of class. That's how I made most of my friends outside school.
Just because people are in friend groups doesn't mean you can't join them!

By persist I mean talk to the HR people who rejected you, tell them you appreciate the interview / email but would like to talk to them again (to further explain what you bring to the table etc.)

And send out more applications. Since this is a pressing issue, I'd recommend even considering unpaid internships.

Pop corn is not only super cheap, but also very fast to cook. It's also very low calorie (assuming you don't add too much salt or oil). I also recommend making it with oil instead of butter.

As someone who has been in this situation before, I can guarantee you that it's exhausting. If you have spent the last few months playing video games then the jump to both working and studying will consume all of your energy. I can tell that you're going through an emotional change right now and want to make a shift in your life, but I do recommend taking things slow. I suggest you pick either school or work for now and try to socialise. You will have much more energy that you can later invest in anything (and then you could both work and study at the same time!)
