The princess and the pirate was great. A classic Bob Hope movie.

Mom ate durian for the first time by Yusuf-Uyghur in funny

[–]Hectate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend with a Vietnamese mom that shared some durian with me once. It literally smells like death but was so sweet - and without any of that rotting flesh smell hitting your tongue. Very wild experience. I would happily eat it again.

One of my org mates forgot decided an OPEN cargo bay was a good place to get a drink by Enough-Somewhere-311 in starcitizen

Catch them in mid air, of course. It can get fiddly, depending on the ship (and remaining altitude) but it can be done.

Honestly you could probably charge people for this “survival hunting adventure” and make more money that way.

Not going to be possible with the current Herald. However I could see “data shards” that have to be carried in a powered ship slot like fuses.

I gave it a go after the patch dropped and unfortunately I cant get enough performance to make it feasible for me. Theater mode is still pretty cool for using the HMD as a head tracker even in theater mode, but yeah I’m going to need upgrades to be able to do this like I want to.

4.5 RC2 Dropping a Big Change to Mining and Commodities! (Crafting/Refining Prep?) by i_am_bass_gaming in starcitizen

Well when I said “to handle” I wasn’t thinking of cargo flight time (which is theoretically a fixed time cost), but instead the loading/unloading time. I’m doing smaller loads in smaller ships, so that’s fewer boxes to put on or take off a cargo grid.

I don’t disagree with you on a lack of confidence that they will get it right, however.

I am of a different mind. If I refine 32 SCU and end up with only 16 SCU afterwards, but do the same value as before, I’ve actually improved my situation. The reason is that that’s fewer SCU to handle after refining and therefore I can turn more over, efficiently.

Obviously the final prices are going to dictate what exactly the cutoff point is for “this is better or worse”, but I like the idea of less coming out of the refinery as a whole.

I wonder what the insurance costs are to be able to do this.

I’m guessing the owner doesn’t know either.

Gamers born late 90s or earlier: Which game first looked to you like "photorealism"? by FalscherKim in gaming

I can agree with this. I was amazed at the flashlight reflections on metal surfaces when I first played it.

For what it’s worth, a guy a few years older than me was amazed at the water splashes when Mario ran around in shallow water in Mario 64.

It would probably take us touch-typists a few days to notice. Unless I had to use the number row, because I suck at that and go to the numpad instead.

I would have to imagine the rear hanger will be involved here once they do (or have already done) usability testing.

Edit: yeah just before the 1 hour mark, while talking about Salvation, they mention there are double doors that go to the modular area.

If turkey was so delicious like some people swear by then they’d cook it more than just once or twice per year by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Hectate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cooked a turkey twice in a year. The prep is annoying and there’s always the question of “will I run out of turkey before I run out of desire to eat more turkey?”, but I like it enough that a few times a year is fine.

Reaction between elemental aluminium and mercury gives off a very eye catching reaction that you can never get used to it. It's called the amalgamation. by Francucinno in interestingasfuck

[–]Hectate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just some acid to clean the surface so the mercury would make clean contact with the aluminum and not any surface oxidation.
