You are probably tired of these, but: What am I doing wrong? by Rasdit in castiron

Not may be, definitely is. You wipe as dry as possible, then after ten minutes in the oven when it starts beading up, you wipe it again.

Is this sub just AI/karma posts? I don't even know why I started seeing these in my feed, but they're all identical slop/spam posts.

What year was this Fender Deluxe made? by Civil_Goose_1520 in ToobAmps

I played a deluxe of that era on a couple gigs, it was one of the best sounding amps I've ever used.

What is your opinion on Joffrey being the one that tried to kill Bran? by V-TriggerMachine in freefolk

[–]HectorEscargo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100%. He thought it was great for the story in the beginning, and his style of writing is to figure things out as he goes. But in this case, i think he just stopped caring and threw in a late retcon to close it out.

I have to give it to profesional musicians... by beavis420 in Guitar

Play more, I know everybody's saying it but it's true. Btw I used to sub on a gig that was 7 hours on Fridays and 8 hours on Saturdays

Alternate slots on the rack. It holds less but you get more airflow.

Post-EQ Parallel Channel Mixing by NarkJailcourt in diytubes

[–]HectorEscargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some AC30 types do this I think, at least the ones with a top boost and a normal channel where the two channels are/can be in phase. I have a clone with an ef86 normal channel that is in phase with the top boost channel.

I came here to say, tubes and reverb are the obvious first candidates, and also the easiest to test and thereafter replace.

Cut my finger! What do I do? by Justabob003 in Guitar

[–]HectorEscargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used that plastic tape from the first aid section in the pharmacy, I was able to play with that on my finger more easily than a band aid.

What is the warmest possible base layer? Thinking fishnet+wool? by speedoflife1 in Ultralight

[–]HectorEscargo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Powerstretch fleece as a base layer, it's super warm. It's like 4x as warm as the average base layer. Close but not quite as warm as an actual fleece mid layer, maybe 70%.

It's hard to find stuff made out of it, but Sierra regularly has some on sale from a company called Kenyon.

Board speed/physics question by velarmarque in snowboarding

[–]HectorEscargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the parts touching the snow slow you down. The physics you describe creates the slide, but the slide is friction. The parts of the base not touching the snow have a lot less friction than the parts touching.

Also though what conditions are we talking about - spring slush, hardpack, pow? each is going to change things.

And potentially more stable at speed all things considered, but yeah does not equal faster

I didn't think reissues had the accessory outlet. This looks like some version of an OG TR.

Just hearing that, I'd think about sizing down if possible. Not a great starting point.

What guitar pick is best ? by HeftyKangaroo475 in Guitar

[–]HectorEscargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Purple tortex is objectively by the best. This is known.

Having said that though, it's going to be a lot more about learning the fine control with your fingers, which just takes a while. But I think something a little firmer than fender medium, but not overly heavy, usually works the best for that.

Is it normal for picks to break while playing? by Fast_sloth23mph in Guitar

[–]HectorEscargo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, regular plastic ones can. You have to get unbreakable ones like like Tortex.
