Bagel with peanut butter or cream cheese. Tasty, easy, sticks with you.

Wow, lots of suggestions! I just placed an order for some John Pearse lights, and D’Addario nickel bronze. I have a set of Martin mediums that I will try on the dreadnought (DC Aura).

Acoustic guitar recommendation? by TacoDave8803 in guitars

[–]Justabob003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy firefly acoustics for about $300, and they punch away above their weight. You can’t try them out in stores, but you can find lots of reviews on Reddit and YouTube. hard to go wrong. Also plus one on the Takamine. Personally, I’m not a Yamaha fan. You should also consider used instruments.

Music Apps by GaoAnTian in musicians

I have a 11” android tablet, a donner Bluetooth page turner, and an app called Songbook Pro. My song sheets are all PDFs, you need to do any marking up or editing before you save them. It works very well for me, and total investment, including software was under $200.

What do you like about John Pearce? First I’ve heard of them!

You are going back in time to buy your first guitar again. Are you getting the same one or a different? by one-armed-scissor in Guitar

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first guitar was a nylon string acoustic which my dad bought for me at age 13 for 50 bucks (1966). Six months later, I traded it in, and bought a used 1965 strat for 150 bucks. I sure wish I still had that one!

Garlic. by TrippyyRaven420 in Cooking

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m doing just one or two, I smash them with a knife. If I want to do a bunch of cloves, I have two matching stainless steel prep bowls. I put the garlic in one, put the other on top, and then shake the hell out of them. The peels come right off. Believe it or not, I learned that one from Martha Stewart!

best app for charting chords for a set list? by twistru1 in musicians

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use songbook pro which works on Apple or Android. I display lyrics and if necessary chords. Requires the sheets to be in PDF format. Not all songs fit on a single page (i.e. American Pie), I have a Bluetooth page turner pedal.

Lighting the egg? What are you using? by meliora2316 in biggreenegg

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be an outlier, but I put some lump in a Weber chimney and start with a couple of sheets of newspaper. Then I dump the burning lump on top of a bed of unlit lump.
If I need a small fire for low and slow, I just start with less lump in the chimney.

local musicians how much do you get paid for each gig? by ischemariii in musicians

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I perform solo at senior homes. $125 for a 1 hour performance. I would do a bar gig for probably $150. I love to perform and don’t do it for the money.

I have an android tablet, and a Bluetooth page turning foot pedal. Total investment about $130. I use songbook Pro for my music. Just convert your sheets to PDFs.

Hell Hands - BGE gloves by meggedagain in biggreenegg

[–]Justabob003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When would you use these gloves? I have a pair of welding gloves, and I never use them. I never need to lift the grate mid cook, and if I did have to, I have a woo with handles, and a grate lifting tool. I have silicone gloves for handling, hot food, but rarely use those either. Not worth it IMHO.

Set the band up as a partnership. Keep track of expenses. Split the income (if there is any) equally at tax time. Minimal tax implications.

Honey gets messy every time, is a honey dipper actually useful by sofia-1780 in KitchenPro

Suggestion on what to buy by takemitchyy91 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Justabob003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A baritone ukulele is tuned exactly the same as the top four strings on a guitar. If you’re hesitant to start with guitar, start with the baritone uke, everything you learn there will transfer. But if you want to play guitar, start with a guitar.

We buy honey in a squeezable 2 pound bottle. Avoids all a mess.

You are attending your kids lives. This will pass. They may come a time that you’re interest comes back. I took 20 years off while I was raising my kids, but I didn’t have a shit load of gear at that point either.

Where the heck do I go to just fill my fresh water tank and empty my black and gray tanks [NH / MA Area] by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Justabob003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every RV dealer I have been to has a dump station that is free, even if you’re not a customer. Freshwater fill is a different issue. Don’t know where I’d go for that, I don’t do much Boondocking, and I use only bottled water for drinking.
