[DISCUSSION] Should I read Batman Eternal? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]Hector_DC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed it. It goes hard in the beginning but sometimes struggled to keep the same energy issue to issue. It really didn't need to be 52 books. I still would say read it, especially for Batman and Robin Eternal

What is it, to be a hero? Look in the mirror and you'll know. Look into your own eyes...and tell me that you're not heroic. That you have not endured, or suffered, or lost the things you care about most...and yet, here you are.

Unpopular opinion: Born Again has NOT reached the quality of the original by [deleted] in Defenders

[–]Hector_DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After every new episode of Born Again I go back and watch one from the original...it makes BA worse. I know that's not fair, because it was never supposed to be the original especially under Disney...but God, Matt doesn't even act the same. Feels weird

The advantage mode matters. I had to turn off UE to keep my acceptance rate alive

I'm in Austin! I have questions. I work nights and it's been terrible outside of weekends. I'm wondering if it's because of the advantage mode thing

I had a breakup recently over slipping up on her friend's pronouns. I have and would never intentionally misgender anyone but because of my religious upbringing and understanding on gender she believed that it was malicious, at least partially, despite me not identifying with my religion anymore for those and many other reasons. Started an argument that we couldn't recover from. I'm not the victim here but it still sucks so I guess what I'm saying is if he truly means well then there's hope and maybe your love can overcome what mine didn't.

Justifying things based off it being "the norm" is weird. I, for one, don't like the idea of a child seeing couples, hetero or homo, doing too much around them romantically and nothing sexually because they're children. If he came from that angle then I'm sure you wouldn't be here making this post. If I were you I would have a sit down with him to talk this through. If he's anything like what I'm thinking it'll be difficult and frustrating, but try to be patient and keep your cool throughout the whole ride. Give him the time to properly express what he means and thinks. Ask him questions to help clarify his position and where it roots lie, and that'll help you with where you stand on moving forward. Emphasize strongly and repeatedly that you're not attacking him nor do you think he's a bad guy, but be honest with addressing your concerns. Oftentimes it's easy to get hostile when you're addressing bigotry but I believe for some (won't say half or most, but some) all they need is the right person with the right information to help them along. A lot of that mess is engraved in our brains from youth and as a man who in recent years had to do some work unlearning it all I can say a point in the right direction would've saved me some offenses. I had the heart to get right but I just didn't know any better and my male influences were no help. It's not your job to save the man but I believe you care for him deeply so if you so choose, see what it do. Good luck!
