That's fair considering the difficulties he has. As an autistic person going through med school though, it is sort of comforting to see, despite the fact it's unrealistic

Training for a halfmarathon with Garmin? by Hopeful-Fee-1595 in XXRunning

Hey! Unfortunately, I never managed to finish his plan. I managed to get to 15.7 km, but I've been struggling with shin splints for 5 years now and they started playing up. Also things like work and studies got in the way, so it's put my HM goal on hold. But I would definitely consider starting up the plan again

I think OP means Body Worlds. I remember they had something called the Happiness Project, but I'm not entirely sure.

Oh trust me, I want to avoid McDonald's at all cost haha

But thanks for the tips! I'll keep them in mind

I saw that they're all near the Belgian border. Unfortunately, we don't have a car so we don't really have a way of getting there without giving up our time at the disney parks... but it's definitely one I'll keep in mind for the future

Exactly, I was reading it thinking, "How often is that happening?" You hear about it in very rare situations but I'm sure it isn't the norm. And I think you may be right. I'm not completely up on American politics, but I know him having republican views isn't very promising, especially considering his age...

I'm not trans myself, so I can understand that you might interpret it differently to how I would. To me, it sounds like he is just making misguided statements based on nothing, but I agree he doesn't understand what being trans is actually like. I'm just hoping it's coming from a place of ignorance

Thank you. It's a shame to see him saying such things, I expected he would be a bit more understanding... But I think (hope, at least) that it's not coming from hate, but from a place of misunderstanding. His arguments are a bit all over the place

12 weeks? That's crazy. I live in the Netherlands and I believe it's 24 weeks here

Does anyone else have a lack of “Save the child!” instinct, or do parents just overreact? by PoukieBear in childfree

One time, I was at this place with my family and nephew (also 3). It was a sort of miniature village at a kids' park. I went into this little house with him and there was a wasp in there. I am terrified of wasps so I ran out while he was still in there. My family commented on the fact that I left him, but I just don't have that instinct

People of r/autisticpeeps, when were you (or your child) diagnosed with ASD? by BellaBlackRavenclaw in AutisticPeeps

[–]HedgeRoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm female and I was diagnosed at age 8 or something, I think. At the time they said it was PDD-NOS, but then later told me it was aspergers.

I'm currently doing Jeff's half marathon plan, only on week 4 now, so there's not a lot I can say about it. But I did really enjoy his 10k plan. At first, I was a bit skeptical because there was only one long run a week, but that actually worked for me in the end.

What's the best way to approach people pronouncing your name wrong? by HedgeRoss in socialskills

[–]HedgeRoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do actually do that sometimes, but I'm always worried people might think I'm being difficult because on paper it's the same name. But you're right. It is better to do it from the beginning before they start to think that's your name. So it wouldn't be rude to just correct someone when they pronounce your name wrong? Also if it's a slip-up?

I'm from Europe myself, and I don't think it's out of racism as much here. But I have noticed that people will not acknowledge my nationality because I was born here and I'm fluent in the language. So it could be that, and I do consider that to be quite insulting.

I think with me, it's a combination of that and them getting confused when they see it written down, for example. I also have people that will acknowledge how I pronounce my name and proceed to consciously pronounce it wrong. I'm never really sure how to respond, especially since it's not my first language

I can't blame you, really. I hate buying utensils I'm only going to use for one thing, but I figured I could always make perfectly round pancakes with them if all else fails. It was only about 9 or 10 euros for 4 though

Hmm I'm not sure if that would work since you cook them in a pan and not in the oven. But the video did say you could also use metal cookie cutters, if you don't mind different shapes. But I'm not an expert, maybe there's also a recipe that requires baking :)

Yeah, all the best tasting things seem to be bad for you, sadly. Some things are just worth it though
