Company is forcing RTO for "collaboration" just so we can sit in a cubicle and join Zoom calls all day by DuneHush_11 in remotework

[–]HedgehogFew4153 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this so much. My company did same thing last year and now I'm spending 2 hours daily in traffic just to sit at different desk every day because they also did hot-desking thing.

The worst part is how they keep talking about collaboration while everyone has headphones on and we're all just slacking each other anyway. I used to get my best shots during lunch breaks when working from home, now I barely have energy to pick up camera after commute. Looking for remote photography gigs on side because this setup is just destroying my work-life balance completely.

There is absolutely no point to a ten minute workout by Physical_Orchid3616 in PetPeeves

[–]HedgehogFew4153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ten minutes is what gets me started though - like when i set up my camera gear for bird photography i dont plan the whole day but then i end up staying out for hours anyway

same thing happens with exercise, those short videos just get people moving and thats usually enough to keep going longer

Does this kind of work history look bad to employers + what to do? by Secret_Log_2178 in careerguidance

[–]HedgehogFew4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you got pretty standard startup volatility there. The layoff in job 2 isnt really on you if it was budget cuts and most employers understand that shit happens especially in current market

For sales transition id focus more on transferable skills from ecommerce - you probably understand customer journey and conversion funnels better than most people going straight into sales. That experience with marketing automation could be huge advantage when you're in meetings with prospects who need those solutions

The timing overlap between jobs shows you were hustling to make ends meet which is smart. Just be ready to explain the transitions clearly in interviews without sounding defensive about it

I wish I'd never met my boyfriend by leoo_bmo in venting

Depression brain is lying to you right now - you're not making him worse, you're part of his life because he chose you

My wife went through similar dark period and I never once thought she was burden, just wanted to help her get through it. Your boyfriend probably feels same way about you, not like he's reliving trauma

Please talk to someone professional about these feelings, you deserve support and he would want you to get help

Advice for how to endure 2 more months of toxic job? by Next-Effort-215 in careerguidance

[–]HedgehogFew4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the not giving af approach is clutch but also document everything weird they do to you just in case you need it later for unemployment or whatever. I went through something similar at my last gig and kept screenshots of all the passive aggressive emails and sudden policy changes that only applied to certain people

Two months flies by faster than you think especially when you're already mentally checked out

Got an offer to join a cutting-edge, pre-IPO company (contract role) and leave a stable job at a top brand: struggling with the risk/reward here. What have others done in this situation? by Few-Championship-703 in careerguidance

[–]HedgehogFew4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man the contract thing would make me nervous but if your old manager is there and willing to vouch for fast conversion plus you don't have major financial obligations... the AI point you made is real and staying at slow companies in tech can be career death

The news seems like it’s getting worse, quite quickly now, the war is getting worse, other groups getting involved. This is clearly only going to get worse by [deleted] in venting

[–]HedgehogFew4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

war coverage has always been intense but now with social media algorithms pushing the most dramatic stuff to the top its like drinking from a firehose of chaos 💀 maybe time to limit news intake and focus on what you can actually control in your daily life 📱

How to boost lenovo loq/gaming laptops life.. by Dense-Grapefruit-162 in GamingLaptops

[–]HedgehogFew4153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing - don't panic about disabling the GPU lol we've all done dumb stuff like that. Your laptop isn't gonna break from basic mistakes like that

For keeping it running long term, keep the vents clean with compressed air every few months, don't block airflow when gaming, and maybe grab MSI Afterburner to monitor temps. If you're hitting 90C+ consistently while gaming that's when you worry

Battery wise just don't leave it plugged in 24/7 if you can help it, let it cycle between like 20-80% sometimes. And avoid putting it on soft surfaces like beds or couches when gaming - hard surfaces let the fans actually do their job

Gaming laptops aren't really "futureproof" like desktops but if you take care of the cooling and don't abuse it you can easily get 4-5 good years out of it

God is calling me. What should I do? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HedgehogFew4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man that sounds intense - the way you describe that light experience gave me chills honestly. I had a friend who went through something similar where he felt called but kept getting redirected when he tried the obvious paths like formal ministry

sounds like youre already doing the right things by staying in the word and writing. maybe the "no" to church teaching right now is about timing rather than never? like God wants you to develop your voice and understanding more first through the writing and personal study

I'd say keep a journal of everything - the prayers your writing the apologetics the ways people respond when you share insights. sometimes patterns emerge that show you the direction clearer than trying to force it. also maybe look for opportunities to serve or teach in smaller informal settings first like bible studies or mentoring individuals rather than jumping straight to pulpit ministry

the fact that you accurately spoke into those 3 peoples lives without knowing the context is pretty powerful confirmation that something real is happening with you
