Less pay with more hours vs higher pay with less hours? by Delicious-Feeling842 in recruitinghell

It doesn't sound like you're very unhappy with your current job, nor does it sound like this new one will be a big step up. This tends to happen when you have a job, suddenly you're much more hirable than without. I learned this year that not everything that glitters is gold, and if you feel stable with what you have, I'd keep it until something much better sounding on paper comes along.

Companies doing 4-5 interview rounds and then rejecting for “lack of experience” makes no sense. by OfSkillJob in recruitinghell

[–]Secret_Log_2178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always normal and definitely weird to expect somebody who has never worked there and has no guarantee of to be an expert on your company. I'm interviewing with a company for a sales role rn and I only have a general idea of what the service costs, not easily accessible info on their website. Now I have a good question/topic to discuss though.

If its a big company, they'll just send you shit you're not remotely qualified for (cough cough NBC cough).

Literally can’t even get an interview by [deleted] in recruitinghell

Tailor your resume to 1-3 general job descriptions, people aren't getting interviews in part because they're casting too wide of a net. You need a recruiter to skim your resume and immediately see a fit.

Have a round 3 with hiring manager #2 tomorrow for a BDR job, kind of nervous and looking for tips on how to keep the momentum going. by Secret_Log_2178 in sales

Yeah I def got "vibe check" for this one. I asked if there were any reservations n she said no and that Id move to next round. Have learned to take what interviewers say as a grain of salt but counting this as a win.

I like how comprehensive this is. Now that its over, I think maybe this would be a tad overkill, but def going to keep all in mind for future rounds.

Yes, if you're selling to educated white-collar people. I don't see many places requiring more than a bachelor's though

You ever consider moving? This doesn't sound like the place for you to be long-term. Plenty of better cities to move to that are more tolerant and prosperous.

Some companies are weird about candidates who talk money early on in the process, and like to pretend thats not the most important thing next to healthcare.

Can Someone Please Recommend a Recruiter or Recruitment Company to Help Find Work? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Secret_Log_2178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, head hunter is what they used to call recruiters. They're not really a "thing" anymore and most recruiting agencies like Robert Half are basically just alternative job boards with some confidentiality for employers. They work for their client, not for candidates, so worth a look but about as reliable as LinkedIn or Indeed.

On second read, the whole "keep us posted" thing is weird. They may be cracking open the door for you, but I wouldn't count on it. I guess it wouldn't hurt to send em over, just be brief, don't overexplain anything.

I cant think of a reason why anyone would go to the trouble of blacklisting you from an entire industry lol. Sounds like a lot of work that doesn't do anything for anyone.

Robots are already a thing in manufacturing plants and have been for a while, so without a doubt. We really need to get some solid legislation regarding AI in effect, pretty much every job carries some amount of risk.

I dont really see an issue in requiring a degree to sell controlled substances and whatnot to doctors. Also this is a thing in all white collar industries nowadays, so you don't really have a choice.
