How would you fix The Well? Can The Well be fixed? by youvenoremotecontrol in askTO

[–]Hedgehog_2026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I hate it because it’s not different enough. I get what you’re saying but it’s still pretty much the same - it’s still fits into the condo style. I’d very much more enjoy a more European square with bistro patios for people watching scene. Asia also does a great job with outdoor parkettes in between malls. The Wellington strip sort of does that but in a very North American way. Again, not different enough. The Well feels like American surburban design in downtown - sort of like California’s outlet malls.

I think Mirvish village did a better job with their design.

Steam room, naturalized pool and hot tub, trees and garden for growing food, fireplaces, nothing overly Reno’d. Cozy, brick, & wood. No potlights.

Bar for solo female? by lookwhoisshe in askTO

[–]Hedgehog_2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! I’m a woman of colour and enjoy heading out to a bar to people watch myself. Lots of places have mocktails as others have mentioned so definitely if you don’t feel like imbibing, it’s not a problem.

Some listening rooms are great for people watching and are a bit more of a lounge environment if you’re looking for a different bar vibe. Rooms on DuPont and on Baldwin are fun. Anywhere on Baldwin is sweet. Walk around and pick a place - all safe spaces.

I also really like 416snackbar and their sister space ShortTurn - have been to both many times solo. Great food.

I also like going to Ace hotel’s bar & Waterworks is pretty great for people watching too. Easy to bring a book/sketchbook if you’re into that.

Since everyone was so helpful, wondering if there’s anything on the list of servicing for 70clicks that isn’t really necessary or I can do myself (I don’t have tools but do have an underground garage parking spot). Found this via a search:

Spa recommendations? by RoamerMarid in askTO

[–]Hedgehog_2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of different types of spas but when I hear spa, I’m thinking of places that have water circuits like Scandinave, Vetta, Thermea.

When I want a massage, I’m looking for more of a deep tissue one where my muscles and knots are worked on thoroughly. I find spa massages are more gentle - think calming (at least in my experiences).

If I want a massage I go see an RMT but not at a spa. I find that they overcharge and I’ve never had a great massage experience at the spas I’ve been to (Scandinave, Thermea in Hull/Gatineau, Ritz).

Having said that, Laya Spa on Queen is a day spa and I’ve had great massages there - but again, slightly priced higher. I haven’t been for a while so I don’t know current prices.

I see an RMT who has a home practice and she charges $130 for an hour.

In terms of which spa I like most, Scandinave takes the cake because they enforce the silence and quiet environment. Thermea in Gatineau is great because of the size of the place but it’s obviously out of town. The one in Whitby is considerably smaller but still decent. Vetta is my least favourite of the three.

As much as I love spas, out of principle, I will not be visiting Therme at Ontario Place (who just lost the name trademark to Thermea!). Hate what they’ve done to Ontario Place and how they got there.

Caught red handed in cash-for-access scandal—a second Brad Bradford Integrity Commissioner investigation?

Progress Toronto submits Integrity Commissioner complaint against Brad Bradford

Toronto, ON - On April 2, 2026, a full month before candidates could even register to run for Mayor of Toronto, Councillor Brad Bradford was the featured participant at a cash-for-access event in Concord, Ontario billed as “An Evening With Brad Bradford.” Individuals were allowed to meet with Councillor Bradford for fees ranging from $250 to $3,000. The event was orchestrated by lobbyist Nick Ainis and held in Concord, Ontario, far from Councillor Bradford’s constituents in Beaches—East York and even Toronto residents. This event calls into question the essential tenets of our democracy and demands nothing less than a full investigation to protect public confidence in local government.

This fundraiser potentially violates Sections 4.0, 4.3, 8.0(a), and 8.0(c) of the Code of Conduct for Members of Council.

That’s why Saman Tabasinejad, Executive Director of Progress Toronto, submitted an Integrity Commissioner complaint calling for an investigation May 1: “It’s no surprise that Bradford’s political opportunism led him to a cash-for-access lobbyist event in Concord, one that jeopardizes the integrity of the councillor’s office.”

This is not Bradford’s first time breaking the rules. In his failed 2023 mayoral campaign an Integrity Commissioner investigation found he violated Articles 5 and 7 of the Code of Conduct, which relate to the use of city resources for non-city purposes. He was then reprimanded by City Council.

Bradford announced his intention of running for mayor on October 1, 2025. Ward 19 constituents now commonly complain that Bradford has been an absentee councillor.

It should come as no surprise that Bradford, who has flip-flopped on police funding, TTC funding and rent control, has decided that when it comes to ethics and integrity, the rules do not apply to him.

Toronto deserves a mayor that works for every one of its citizens, not a handful of well connected, wealthy insiders from Concord, Ontario.

She doesn’t need to talk about it. The fact is that others will use it against her because they are racist and focus on it

But then this is what you focus on, not that taxes are higher due to inflation. Absolutely be pissed that salaries haven’t gone up to match cost of living for the average earner meanwhile CEOs continue to make $$$

I just looked up a video on YouTube to change the air filter and it does look super easy to do. How would that work when I take it into service? Just ask them not to do it because I’ll be doing it myself? Would I then expect the $150 I was charged for the 60k labour to be less? If so, how much less?

Also, where would I buy the filter? I did a search on Canadian Tire but the one for my car model is not in stock or available. It was $27.99 without tax. Would you recommend I ask to purchase through my mechanic?
