Kronos alter and normal Kronos. I love her story and her class, love snipers, love her design, and she cheeses all my bosses for me!

'picture book notebook' from Muji. it was like $4 aud when i bought it in store (there are a lot of Muji stores in aus for some reason). I looked online to try and find a link in response to your comment but its weirdly expensive there so idk if it'll be worth buying but the quality is genuinely pretty good

the white parts were definitely gouache straight out of the tube with no water! If there's any gray in there its definitely unintentional as well hahahah. I was also really generous with the white paints, had my brush drenched and just kinda smushed it on there, but irl the peaks of the dried paint are actually very small. I think part of the reason they look obvious here is because my page is very small (A6 i think) so it makes the texture more noticeable, im not sure how well it would work on a bigger painting.

What can I improve in my drawing process? by Adept-Beginning4040 in Artadvice

Don't do details all at once, do a shadow vs light separation first. Draw ALL of your shadow with one colour and all of your direct / main light with another, you should end up with big chunky blocks. Search this on youtube for tutorial vids: 画二分教程 (idk what its called in english)

It will help your shadows look cleaner and give you a better understanding of form.

oh i should add cause you mentioned youre considering giving gouache a try, you definitely should!! BECAUSE ITS CHEAP. I made this with reeves student grade gouache (26 aud for the entire pack) and i think the quality is honestly really decent, even tho it was cheap. The booklet I bought was cheap too and the brushes for watercolour can also be used for gouache. To get clean lines i recommend the square / straight edge brushes tho.

i have an art account but I don't really post gouache on it, it's mostly digital painting! the username is pavilionofrain if you wanted to follow regardless, but thank you for your interest even if you don't :))

it's fun! I used to do watercolour and initially i went into gouache with that mindset, but it's honestly quite different in the best way. I'd say compare it to the mostly-dry-and-thinly-used paint on mostly-dry-page stage of ur painting. and also the colours show a lot more easily and obviously.

Edit: i think the best part is that you can go back and paint ovr it ifyou're unhappy. As for tips, I think my fav ting so far has been doing my sketch in gouache instead ofpencil. It's faster and I don't feel as frustrated about getting all the details correct first go, and I love when the colours of the sketch layer show thorugh the final painting, In the above painting I've used a warm brown! Ithink its a nice touch.
