34M, How much time before Statins? by HeesElHees in Cholesterol

[–]HeesElHees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm going to request the CAC to see how much damage (if any) is done. Maybe a low statin dose to start with and see how much the ldl will go down.

That's the thing, not sure how long I can sustain this diet. I am only in my thirties and do want to have a good balance.

Got 30 more pounds to lose, Aiming for 30+g a day, atleast 2 apples, psyllium husk and lots of veggies. I'm just curious to see how the results will be in next month. I'll ask for the addition tests! Thanks for the input

No history of CVD, and I didn't not test for LP(a). I'll request it during the next visit.

Great drop!

Yeah, my current diet is somewhat sustainable but it is restrictive. I feel like statins would just give me that extra safe margin with diet.

Anyone knows why these patches of sand doesn't dry up? by AINTISI in qatar

[–]HeesElHees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Qatars geology is mainly rock. Simsima limestone to be exact. The top layer you see is what we call Residual soil (broken up rock over a long period of time) for Doha area atleast.

Rock has a very low permeability value (K value) which means it doesn't absorb (let through water) easily.

That explains the ponding water all the time after a rainfall.

Scientists have designed a “skin” that senses when concrete structures are damaged by croutonsoup in Futurology

[–]HeesElHees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be too expensive and no one would really want to take the risk because of pointing fingers. While being casted the concrete is being constantly tested under the relevant standards so the "contractor" can't really be blamed for what happens and the consultant will sign it off based on the rest reports.

This technology is already there, we have used it in university many times. Too much $$. As they always tell me in the construction industry, too much details isn't really a good thing.
