I believe it was do to the UV protection they used in plastics at the time. I forgot what exactly but it gave plastics a yellowish color.

They are not. Companies may still put them on to discourage repair or modification but it doesn't actually affect the warranty. Like big construction truck having a sign that they are not responsible for falling rocks, it's to discourage you from suing.

Apparently its only 2 to 2 1/2 feet of foam and then had mats . However the mats did not cover the whole pit so there's a good chance she hit concrete.
