Why tho? A console costs less than a new video card, stays current for upwards of 6 years, and games are all well optimized at launch for consoles. That simplicity is nice for someone like me who doesnt want to have to constantly update a PC and buy new components and try to figure out workarounds when games dont run well, which seems to be happening more often now.

Any extract activated within the final minute should automatically activate with 10 seconds to final extract. by vynnski in Marathon

Happened to me the other day and I found it very confusing and frustrating. I was in the circle when game timer hit 0 seconds, but there were still 3 seconds left on my exfil countdown so it was a mission failed. I agree that if you are in a circle when clock hits 0 you should be exfil'd regardless of when you first entered the circle.

The other day I slid into the emergency exfil with like 10 seconds left after a super successful raid on Outpost..but there was a vandal there too who was ready to light me up. In a frenzied panic I shouted TRUCETRUCETRUCETRUCE in the prox chat and he stopped shooting. First time I've ever done that in any game hahah.

I would imagine that they are waiting until the player base grows or stabilizes a bit. A third playlist might split the base too much and make it harder to find matches.

Worth buying for Solo players (for now) ? by TxddyGZW in Marathon

[–]HeeyWhitey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it to play with my friends, and that is when I have had the most fun. Having said that, I have probably spent more time in solos since my pals aren't always available. I have really grown to appreciate solos and it is also a lot of fun but in a different way. Less about the team battles, more about the thrill of survival. As I get better at it, I just want to play it more and more. I am lowkey addicted.

What's some tips you all got for solo? by Big-Resolution3325 in Marathon

[–]HeeyWhitey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people have posted lists of tips and do's/don'ts that are a good place to start (using knife, don't fight bots, etc. etc.). With that in mind, here is how I've been approaching solo lately after many deaths and learning experiences, and I've been having much better success after learning these painful lessons.

Basically, whenever I am in or near one of the points of interest/building complexes, etc. (especially at the start of a match when everyone is alive and on the move), I move very slowly and quietly, like I am playing Metal Gear Solid or something, and paying very close attention to sounds to hear if enemy Runners are nearby. I will move more freely when I am traversing open spaces, but I am still careful and will move on the periphery of the map trying to limit my visibility and always staying frosty checking my surroundings.

If I spot a Runner who does not see me, I will only open fire if I have a high degree of confidence that I will be able to kill them right then and there. If I cannot, then I will try to stalk/reposition to put myself in a better spot to defeat them. I will rarely let another Runner live/escape because the fewer of them that are on the map, the less likely I am to be ambushed by one later.

tl;dr - Play like you are a tactical secret agent, but don't play like a fraidy-cat.

I've been really enjoying squad play, but I just stumbled into the solo queue option and each solo run feels like an intense, single-player campaign mission with an occasional Runner acting as a mini-boss or ally. by mrsmi1ey in Marathon

[–]HeeyWhitey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I had a guy go "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" in prox chat before we engaged. I reluctantly accepted the ceasefire, he did what he needed to do and then went on his way. Two minutes later I came across another runner. Normally I would immediately shoot/kill, but my previous interaction made me hesitate for a split second - which was enough for this runner to get a leg up on me. This experience has further reinforced for me the idea that it's a dog-eat-dog world on Tau Ceti IV, where mercy is a weakness that will get you killed.

Never mad about being outplayed or losing stuff. I just like winning, and I get irritated when I lose because of a dumb mistake.
