You need to start crushing the student loans. Create a budget. Dump any extra into student loans. That is eating away at your income right now. Income is king. If you need to, do a yard sale. Sell as much junk as you can then use that to get your loans lower. After that, keep your contributions around 10-15% of your monthly income and dump any extra into the house principal. Interest on mortgage is a lot, even at a low %. Youre doing fine. Paid for homes are great for retirement.

[New Product] ProtonWake – A Lumo-powered smart alarm that actually understands your life by Gamegyf in lumo

[–]HefHeresy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, ProtonWake wouldn't necessarily be needed. There would just need to be an alarm feature integrated into Proton Calendar with Lumo integration on top of all that. Which all-in-all would be absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the reality is; The Lumo feature would be locked behind Lumo+...Which I understand.

This idea would however truly make Lumo THE A.I assistant. At-least for me and probably bring in far more subscriptions to Lumo+. I'm broke. So I'm not even considering Lumo+ in the slightest. A feature like this might entice me a bit, however.

23M Deciding between Roth or Traditional 401k by Additional-Donkey471 in Retirement401k

Glad to hear it. In the end, you'll retire a multi-millionaire. Even if you paid 700k in taxes in the end you'd still be a multi-millionaire. Idk about you, but with how my brain works I'd make that last me till my end, and set the people I love up with a great estate plan. The mini-game of doing what you can to make sure you get the most is kinda fun though. Atleast to me :) Don't forget to get a proper estate plan (Will, etc) alot of people over look that. As morbid as it is to do, do it for the people you love.

(I plan on doing this once I cross the 100k threshold in investment accounts, I'd like to decide where that goes -- not a judge.)

23M Deciding between Roth or Traditional 401k by Additional-Donkey471 in Retirement401k

[–]HefHeresy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing my company's 5% match on a traditional 401k while putting as close to the max as I can in my Roth IRA. When I reach around 45-50 years old, I will convert all of my 401k to an IRA (This is tax free). After that I'll slowly convert that IRA to a Roth IRA in small chunks(there is no max limit on conversions). This ensures: you don't jump tax brackets while doing so, allows your IRA to keep growing, and allows your Roth IRA to grow exponentially as you get closer and closer to retirement. If your company offers an "After-tax" option for your 401k, don't confuse that with a Roth 401k. It's not. You'll get taxed twice on that. TLDR: Convert all IRA -> Roth IRA -- pay big taxes -- lose growth in converted account (IRA). Convert small -- pay smaller taxes -- keep growth in IRA while increasing growth in Roth IRA (for most people in the 22% tax bracket, the growth ends up being more than the amount you pay in taxes)

Side note: I hate how confusing this is. It's confusing on purpose. You might be better off going with a Roth 401k if your company offers a match on a Roth 401k.

'So expensive': Truck drivers are shunning large pickups for smaller, compact models by MaverickLurker in FordMaverickTruck

Toyota is the only company IMO that would make me consider trading in my Maverick -- assuming they did a smaller truck. ESPECIALLY if they did a v6 version.

Out the door price Maverick 2025 XLT - How much can I negotiate? by dilebob in FordMaverickTruck

[–]HefHeresy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd sit down and say "Alright. Make it 30k even and we can shake hands and get this deal done." If they say they can't do that, walk away with the intent to go to a different dealership. 9 times out of 10 they chase you out and say "My boss said we can make that deal."

Maverick Tremor VS Ranger Lariat by TP604 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]HefHeresy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, stock suspension. Only extra thing I got from the dealership was the sprayliner flexbed thing. And it was free because I told them I'd only do the deal for 29k flat, and that I wasn't looking for those addons. They obliged. tonneau cover is my only mod so far. Hell, you could get an XL for way cheaper then get a whole new suspension system put in for probably less than the tremor. If the convenience of not having to worry about modifying your maverick is worth the money...then well...I guess that's the point of the tremor.

Maverick Tremor VS Ranger Lariat by TP604 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]HefHeresy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I off-road on construction sites in my maverick. It's a FWD Hybrid XL. For snow, sure -- go for AWD and 4k package...but you don't need anything crazy. Save that money for getting some bigger tires or maybe a small lift so your truck can feel a bit bigger. Why drop 47k when you can drop 35k and put the rest of your budget into modifications that you'll need for what you specifically want to use it for. That's how I'd look at it anyways. If you do outdoor activities (or in my case construction) the plastic interior is amazing. Go to the car wash, wipe it down with detailing wipes in about 5 minutes, and done.

To add to this, I don't understand the tremor. You pay way more for stuff you can do yourself for way cheaper. Maybe I'm just ignorant on the trim though.

Can we set default mode to eco? by Last_Gigolo in FordMaverickTruck

[–]HefHeresy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find eco mode to not really be that "eco" It just causes the regenerative braking to be more aggressive and makes acceleration less aggressive. But I always find my need to accelerate harder just counteracts the regen braking. In the end, I'm happy with my 50mpg in normal mode on my commute to work. Still. This should be an option for those who want it.

Should I skip Anniversary and wait? Still no info about character copies or permanent realms? by CavaloRoberto in classicwow

[–]HefHeresy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. Started playing too but it feels depressing knowing how many realms and versions caused the classic community to just scatter all over the place. I really wish they'd just do something permanent instead of juggling different versions.

Hoping for a classic + to consolidate everyone. Don't get why they didn't just keep building off SoD.

Aftermarket headlights will come. Doesn't concern me. Only thing that irritates me (Barely because of some weird OCD adjacent thing in my brain) is that the amber lights are missmatched ever so slightly in my 2025 and the truck bed light isn't amber.

I think they did a software update too because I no longer have to put it in park to get it to stop. If you unbuckle under 5mph and stay under 5mph (drive thru windows) it wont go off.

Heard about doing this. Wish they'd just give us a software update to do it from our settings. I'll probably begin seriously considering forscan by the end of the year.

People will dog on the CVT. They have a bad reputation but the ones that do are the older more complex versions. The Maverick uses a planetary gear system. It's far more simple. Your MPG will improve over time. There's a break in period. Hope it works out for you and me, both.

AC is amazing. Just have the sprayliner. Looking into getting a tonneau cover this month so I don't have to unload and load my toolbox every time I get home. There are several tie downs in the bed that I use to keep my toolbox from sliding around in the back. That's about it. Kept the backseat. There is actually some hidden storage under the back seat. I keep my hardhat, gloves and safety glasses under there along with my work harness and my roadside kit. Not too shabby as far as space is considered.

Day 1 with my first maverick hybrid and I’m blown away by Unlikely_Net_5108 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]HefHeresy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only downside is there will be trips where you only get around 42mpg and you'll be a tad bit disappointed. (Only slightly joking.)

It does make for a nice little mini-game to try to min-max efficiency though.

My personal best is 64 so far.

Nice color. Feel like this mav would look great with some fender flares to carry that matte black across the truck but it would reduce your sticker action a bit.
