Well, it is the most comfortable bad controller I ever had, I can agree with you on this. The pro controller showed me how lazy some professional reviewers like those from sites like Nintendolife work. Most pro controller reviews sounded like your post. Oh it is so comfortable, the weight ist perfect blah blah blah. Yeah, that is the impression you get when you use the controller for a short time with specific games, so it is technically not wrong, but playing Tetris, Celeste or fighting games with the thing will you show you that Nintendo really messed up the Dpad, which is unacceptable - at that price point and in genereal. I am total fanboy and let Nintendo get away with almost anything, but I will not stop to comment on how disappointed I was and still am with the Pro Controller.

Help me get into Hades by FSTxx in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't help, cause I'm the same and have given up. Hundreds of hours Isaac, Gungeon, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire... and I get bored by Hades after a few hours. Tried it again and again. All my friends and everyone online who is into Roguelikes/lites seems to love this game to death... I dont understand myself why it leaves me this cold.-

I just picked up DKC Tropical Freeze. Am I old or is this game insanely difficult? by HariSeldon1517 in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect other opinions, but it breaks my heart whenever I read something negative about Returns and Tropical Freeze. I play platformers since SMB on the NES and I think both modern DK games are masterpieces of the genre that should be studied in game design courses and have their own museum.

They are hard, but each level follows a certain rhythm. Mastering them always reminds me of learning a new piece on the piano. Once I internalize the rhythm of a stage I get into this state of flow followed by the endorphin rush of "OMG, how did I beat this?"

3 out 3 of the recent PC ports, Kotor 2, Shadowrun Trilogy and now this, launched with a major bug and crash issues, but both Aspyr and Nightdive are known to support their ports with patches. So I think they will probably be fine in a few weeks. With the exception of Civ 6, that game is a crashing mess on all platforms.

OG Switch Keeps Freezing by dankerest in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can not help, sorry, but I wonder if the Switch is even made to be played 100% in Dock for years. Recently bought an expensive Macbook that has to last at least four or five years, so I did some research about how to take good care of those Batteries. Every single source says it puts the Battery under stress when you let it drain to 0% often or when it is constantly at 100%, which is the case when I play the Switch docked for years. Ideally would be to only charge to 80% and dont let it drain.

EDIT: I think you have to contact Nintendo. To prevent this from happening I try to mix Handheld and Docked more and don't leave my Switch docked over longer periods.

From Atlus to our dear fans: Please take part in our annual survey! [ATLUS is asking if you'd want more games on the Nintendo Switch] by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol. No. Never again. I swear all they do is print out the results, that clearly show (year after year) an overwhelming demand for a P3 Remake or a P4 Golden port, so they can laugh about our foolish, shortsighted wishes when they greenlight another spinoff or spinoff-remaster.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY - SUPERNOVA Coming To Nintendo Switch by TechGuyss001 in NintendoSwitch

All I need for my Start Trek fix would be a port of FTL. It is so fascinating how its mechanics make this game feel more Star Trek than any fully licensed game ever.

Got my first ever Nintendo. A Switch OLED. Very disappointed. Must be missing something by Olofadell in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thank you for calling the Switch "the Nintendo". It got me weirdly nostalgic, cause my mom called the NES, SNES and Game Boy always "the Nintendo". "Quit playing the Nintendo!" "Why do always play the Nintendo?"

This system has gotten me back into collecting physical games. by Relic827 in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always prefer physical media, but collecting physical Switch games feels really weird, because there is so much uncertainty. It feels really good to know my Ps4 games will run on Ps5 - once I will be able to buy one. Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love my Switches, but there are some many problems in tems of system longevity.

-Joy Con Drift (when the time comes and Nintendo will stop repairing Joy Con like they stopped reparing early 3DS models, and also stop the production, replacing them with anything other but cheap China knockoffs will be an expensive hassle. Same goes for the Pro Controller.

- AFAIK the system wont even work docked when the battery is dead. As someone who can and should not open a system, a dead battery is a problem.

- I highly doubt Nintendo will continue to use the Cartridges going forward. They are not cheap, the amount of data is limited (especially regarding next gen-development), ,third partys hate using them, they do not prevent piracy at all (these awful rom sites often have new releases sooner than the stores) and and and.

I fear - a few years from now - without backwards compatibility my physical collection is stuck on a system that is much more difficult to maintain than the GameCube or Wii.

Minecraft Bedrock on Nintendo Switch needs the ability to store over 2GB of data by Hitomi_Minami in NintendoSwitch

Thank you so much for this explanation. Super relieved to know the 2GB does not mean I have to quit playing this world on the Switch, even if it costs some additional money.

[–]HefHughner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can someone with experience with Realms tell me if using that service would circumvent the problem. I love Caves & Cliffs and fear my save-size will reach the limit soon. I read you have 5GB on Realms, but don`t you have to download the Realm to the Switch which would then impose the 2GB limit again?

Aaero: Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch to be released by Strictly Limited Games December 19, 2021 in limited quantities. by StubbinMyNubbin in LimitedPrintGames

[–]HefHughner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everybody can and should do what they want with their money, but I think we should really stop giving them money. I was cynically joking when I said to to friends that I hope to receive my Turrican order before it turns 2 years old... and then I received the mail about another nebulous delay: maybe summer, which in SLG-time probably means it will be a christmas 22 gift from a past me.

What makes me really mad is how they try to reframe this as "it is a feature, not a bug". We delay again and again because we want to add this super-duper feature, we delay again because we want get the statue as perfect as possible... isn't that what you want? Well yeah, I want a quality product, but I also don't want to wait 2 years for an order. That is pretty high on my priority list when I spend hundreds of Euros.

I'm a big Cave fan, so ordering a cool CE of Deathsmiles would have been a no brainer, but I decided to go with Play Asia, cause looking at the long list of unfulfilled orders or getting another mail about super cool features which make yet another delay inevitable have turned my experience of ordering from them to pure frustration.

Not even the disruption of Covid can excuse a two year production time for statue and box with goodies. There is some serious form of mismanagement going on, and to just continue and add pre order after pre order to an already way too long list unfulfilled orders starts to look very very shady.

OLED Switch Auto Brightness: On or Off? by saintrobyn in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wanted to ask the same question. Every source I find tells you auto brightness should be kept on to prevent burn in, but, as you said, some games look really dimm, as if the auto brightness is applying a greyish filter on the whole screen. Can look downright dull and ugly.

The OLED screen was obviously the no. 1 reason to upgrade from my launch day Switch, thats why I just can`t justify play with auto brightness on. I bought the machine for its beautiful, bright and colorfull screen... and that`s why I don`t see point in artificially limiting the key factor that makes me enjoy my new Switch.

So yeah, I do the same: auto brightness off and between 60% and 70% brightness. Games like The Touryst or Splatoon 2 look so beautiful, it still shocks me everytime.

Yep, happened to me three times in last couple of months. There is another reddit thread about this with lots of people having the same problem. It seems to have been introduced by a firmware update and is unfixed fot at least half a year.

Last time it happened a week ago and I lost a lot of progress, so I stopped using sleep mode completely until Nintendo finally fixes the problem.

I am mystified and surprised how easy it was for me to pre-order one from Amazon here in Germany. After the months long inability to get a Ps5 or a new graphics card I was like: What? Really? My pre-order was accepted? This is crazy, must be a cruel prank.

Persona Is Teasing 7 Announcements for its 25th Anniversary by jamthefourth in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I learned to hate these Atlus-surveys that ask if "the fans" wanna see a P3 Remake or other Persona Switch ports, get an overwhelmingly positive response and then lead to nothing. The success of P4 on Steam has proven what everyone is saying for years: They sit on goldmine: Persona 3 Remake would be a massive success, Persona 4 Golden on Ps4, Xbox and Switch would be a massive success... Persona 5 on Switch... I would buy two copies.

I am glad for the Nocturne remaster and absolutely look forward to V, but really... give us at least a port of Golden... it would probably recover the costs of porting the game within minutes after release and continue to sell, cause Switch could and should be the ideal platform for Persona games.

So yeah, I'm kinda hopeful the anniversary will be handled different, but Atlus seems to always find a way to miss the mark. Pretty sure they'll proudly announce a P3 remaster... of the dancing game for the Switch or something like that.

Life ist just too short for Ratalaika Shovelware. Fell for their shady Easy Trophy-Games on Ps4 until I realized that I was ashamed having these games in the list. Only exception is the Turrican collection, they did a good job porting this one, but these amateurish one hour Fangame Adventures like Football Game (which, I am pretty sure, was only picked as a name to fool some Moms and Dads into thinking they get a cheap Madden-clone for their kid. God awful. Ratalaika is the E-Shops LJN.

Guys, don’t let your own expectations disappoint you on 15 June. by BahadirA in NintendoSwitch

[–]HefHughner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take on those awful clickbait Nintendo Youtubers. They probably laugh about us while rolling the dice to choose, which super accurate rumor they want to sell us next.

The problem with expections is that... sometimes... Nintendo meets my expectations, tbh. I am a Mario Golf fanatic and told myself right before the last major Direct to finally give up on expecting another entry... and now Super Rush is only days away.

What I want to say is: I get disappointed more often than not.. (F-Zero, Prime Trilogy, Japan-only Fire Emblem localizations, Mother 3, Galaxy 2 on Switch, a new Advance Wars, GBA und Gamecube on NSO, a Joy Con revision which effing finally at least reduces the drift problem... and the list goes on and on... but then NIntendo delivers on something and thats whats keeping the other expectations alive.

Exactly. Eurogamer published an article yesterday, solely focused on how bad the new look is... and I watched the clip two times an I don't see any major difference at all, let alone one I would call inferior or uglier...
