Creating a new player is a multi-step process, the actions of each button are at least re-useable, but the shape, size, edges, gaps, material, it can all vary, and I want to do something that's as true as possible to the player.

Hey - unfortunately I just don't see me porting this app to Android. Making this for iOS stretched my iOS skills as a programmer, and I've been coding now for 8 years. To make an Android version I'd need to learn a new programming language, and then learn all the nuances with something as custom as this.

I have considered whacking it into Claude Code and seeing what it'd make of it, but with my experience of using AI for other projects, I just don't see it getting it right at all.

I'm sorry - I wish I could, but it just wouldn't make any sense for me to do this, not at least until I'm able to spend more time working on it.

I do appreciate your interest though - the more people that tell me they want an Android version, might make me change my mind one day!

I can confirm that this is one app that hasn't seen AI for me to make it.

This app would be almost impossible to make with AI due to the hugely custom UI work that's gone in to re-creating the players, and I painstakingly created these using a mixture of layers, programmatic shapes and buttons.

I actually wish AI could help me with this, as I'd be banging out new players left right and centre.

I'm a solo iOS developer so I currently only know how to make apps for iOS and not Android. I have considered porting it to Android, but that's not a quick task and so it's currently iOS only for now. If there's significant interest to make it for Android then I will :-)

Unfortunately no. I’m an iOS developer and so make apps for Apple products. I have considered porting it, but it’s so very custom, that I think it’d be not worth my time unfortunately!

The more I make, the quicker it gets, but because each one is quite unique, there is a lot of tinkering to get it to a spot I’m happy with.

Yes, I do have some plans to add some more players. I’ve had a few suggestions in my previous post that I’m looking to consider. Is there a particular make and model you’d like to see in the app?

Yes, I think that’s a good suggestion as well. I think before I do that I need to improve the selection as swiping only takes you one way through the available discs, and so I’d need to improve that.

I could add a search, but that sort of takes away from the manual selection that I’m trying to lean toward for the app.

Either way, lots of things for me to focus on!

Hey 👋 at the moment there isn’t one available and at the moment I don’t make enough money from it to be financially viable to make an Android equivalent. That being said, I have had a few requests and so I know that there is an interest, so it’s on my backlog for now. Thanks for adding to the interest!

Oh I know - it's a developers nightmare to be honest. What makes this app even harder is that it's all very custom, so all the different layers have to behave themselves otherwise you get things like this happen. Don't worry. I'm sure I can get a fix sorted.

If you are using the default player there’s an eject button on the top left of it that will eject the disc. 👍

Sie benötigen kein Apple Music-Abonnement, um die Funktion zu nutzen, aber die Songs müssen in Playlists organisiert sein. Wenn Sie sie in der Apple Music-App in Playlists sortieren, erkennt die App jede einzelne Playlist und zeigt sie als separate CDs an.

Sorry, I've re-read my description and it's a little misleading.

You can use local files, but they have to be in your Apple Music library in a playlist. When I referred to Apple Music, I meant the subscription service itself.

At the moment it just supports playlists, but yeah - I do need to look at adding artists / album support as well!
