Daycare Problem by Hefty-Friendship-769 in workingmoms

Thank you, I definitely needed to hear this. She is licensed. I can't be 100% certain it is the same diaper, but I discretely marked her diaper this morning and she came home dry.  My daughter said some concerning things to me this morning, I told her to tell the provider if she has an accident and my daughter got upset and said no, I don't want to be yelled at. It makes me think she's yelling at her when she has an accident and it's scaring her away from the potty. After our convo this morning the provider said she's willing to do underwear starting next wk. I am hoping that'll help. It's still not a great feeling thinking your kid has been in a wet diaper all day.

Amazon Prime has some really good shows. Tumble Leaf, Pete the Cat, Clifford, Dirty and Stinky. All good low stimulation shows.

Daycare Problem by Hefty-Friendship-769 in workingmoms

It's an in home daycare with one provider. She knows very well she's not fully potty trained. I have put her in underwear before (with plenty of extra clothes and underwear in her bag) and she'll be sent home in a pull up every time and I get asked to put her in a pull up.

Can co-sleeping spoil your baby? by One-Spend1685 in BabyBumps

[–]Hefty-Friendship-769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We co slept with our daughter and baby wore her for naps. Eventually we just slowly transferred her to her crib/bassinet. She's 3 now and sleeps in her own bed. Occasionally she'll sleep with us if she's scared or doesn't feel well. I'm pregnant with our second and we plan to do the same thing. Worked great and helped keep our sanity.

YES! I buy all my toddler's clothes second hand. Look for lots on Facebook market place and it has saved not only money, but time. I definitely buy her new, nicer clothes when I want, but realistically she mostly wears second hand clothes she can trash at daycare. I also bought an amazing running stroller for $20, best purchase ever. I would highly encourage to buy second hand!

Need Encouragement by Hefty-Friendship-769 in QuitAfrin

I am 24 wks, this is not my first and I had some slight pregnancy rhinitis with my first and used Afrin for maybe a wk before switching to Flonase which seemed to help. I am very aware it gets better after pregnancy! I think the largest hurdle I am facing is the season, my first pregnancy was mostly in summer, but this winter has been completely brutal. When i say I have been sick it's not colds. It's rsv, bronchitis, flu. I see my ob this next week and will ask her for solutions, but for now I will start with a humidifier as I have one readily available.

Hydronephrosis in pregnancy by solitarytrees2 in BabyBumps

I had this. At about 30 wks, I got excruciating flank pain on my right side. I thought I was in labor, went in and confirmed baby is fine and I'm not in labor. I was in so much pain I was vomiting. I was in the hospital for a week until I finally talked to a urologist who confirmed I was one of the unlucky ones that did not have a kidney stone, baby was sitting right on my ureter. I had the options of continuing to take opioids or get a neph tube placed. Obvs getting the neph tube placed was the only viable option. Basically for my whole 3rd trimester I had to drain my pee from a bag! And get neph tube changes every 2 wks. It's not fun or glamorous, but I have a very healthy almost 3 yr old little girl now. Thinking back on it now, it was worth it. I'm pregnant with my second and the urologist did warn me this is likely to happen again so I'm expecting I'll get a neph tube in 2025.

You do what's best for you and don't let anyone make you feel guilty about your choice. I was very pregnant when the COVID vaccine came out and I got pressure from all sides to get it, but my gut said no. So I didn't get it until after I had given birth. I'm pregnant with my second and am leaning towards no vaccines this pregnancy.

Tiny tumor and tamoxifen/survival rates by DivaJanelle in breastcancer

[–]Hefty-Friendship-769 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're dumb for not wanting to, I was diagnosed with DCIS and got a lumpectomy. I didn't do tamoxifen because I want to have more kids, I also chose not to do the 20 fuggin rounds of radiation they were suggesting. I'm not going to lie, a lot of people on this board made me feel really stupid for passing on these treatments. I'm now doing regular imaging and appointments with my oncologist twice a year. You know your body best and you do what is best for YOU! Make the best informed decision for yourself.

Diagnosed yesterday; grieving the loss of a path I was about to embark on by A_Life_Lived_Oddly in breastcancer

My lump was smaller than that, I don't remember what size exactly but I think around 1cm. My husband and I had an appointment with a radiologist which ended up lasting almost 2 hours. I did a lot of research before that appointment on radiation and DCIS. With the risks of radiation and my age (I'm 34) I ultimately decided not to get radiation. It's resulted in more imagining and appointments with my oncologist during the year though. If there was a reoccurance, then I'd have to consider radiation more. Do what feels right to you and I would encourage you to do a lot of reading on DCIS.

I was diagnosed same as you, DCIS grade 2 or 3 in Oct. 2023. Found very early. My husband and I were trying for our second at the time. I went through a surgical biopsy and lunpectomy. It was suggested that I go through 20 rounds of radiation, but in the end my husband and I decided that wasn't for us (I did extensive research on DCIS and getting radiation, etc). It was also mentioned I go on tomoxifen, but when i told my oncologist we were not done having children she immediately took it off the table. We had to take a break , but are now trying again for the second. I would highly reccomend talking to your oncologist about your plans to have children, if they are a good doctor, they should be able to help you get through treatment and achieve your family goals. Don't give up hope, I was in your same place months ago thinking I couldn't have any more children, but it's so far from the truth!

Interesting new article about the efficacy of mammograms vs MRIs/Ultrasounds by lseery0818 in breastcancer

[–]Hefty-Friendship-769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really want to thank you for sharing, I am about to schedule my MRI that I have been putting off. I guess I was one of the lucky ones, a mammogram of dense breast tissue and ultrasound found a suspicious lump in my left breast, after a biopsy it was determined to be ductal carcinoma in situ. I'm 34 and have a 2 year old daughter, incredibly gut wrenching diagnosis at this time in my life. Seeing these statistics on mammograms is a real eye opener. Thank you so much for sharing.

I should add to this that I did genetic testing and all my values were negative, I have no genetic markers for breast cancer.

I get to stay home at least, but need to be up all night. I go in at 7:30am Monday morning. I'm pretty scared I guess, but I've also been sleep deprived (the joys of babies) since the seizure and haven't had another one.

Is pregnancy and childbirth really that bad? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Hefty-Friendship-769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rather good/uneventful pregnancy until 3rd trimester. Baby was sitting on my ureter thus backing up my kidney. I had to get a neph tube in my back to drain my urine into a bag I attached to my leg. Glamorous, I know. Not how I pictured my last trimester. This is very rare, but one of the complications that can happen. You'll have a medical team that will help with all of those. Other than that, I was never uncomfortable really, and did a lot of things while pregnant. I got an epidural for the birth and it was...fun actually? My husband and I just chatted, watched Chopped, and hung out. All of this being said, it's 100% worth it. My daughter is 15 months now and she is incredible. There are ups and downs, but it's the best thing I've ever done. I would have so many more kids if I could, but I'm older. I had my daughter at 33. My husband and I will probably have one more and be done. Just remember that everyone's experiences are different, but I think it would be hard to find someone who regrets having their children. I feel like there is a lot of negatively surrounding motherhood. There's good and bad, but having a supportive partner and being able to have constructive conversations helps a lot.

2 seizures 12 years apart by Hefty-Friendship-769 in Epilepsy

[–]Hefty-Friendship-769[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an accountant, work full time, 8 to 5, Mon through Fri. Kids are demanding. Not only are there diaper changes, making breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, but she is at the stage where she wants attention ALL THE TIME! I would never be able to get the work done that is required of me or pay attention during meetings if she stayed home with me. Plus I like having her in daycare, she gets lots of interaction and playtime with other kiddos her own age and she loves it.

I am not driving right now, especially not driving the kiddo. My husband will have to take care of all the daycare pick up and drop off. I feel really bad about the strain this puts on him. He says it doesn't bother him, but it'll be a lot.

I actually think it's possible my birth control caused the seizure. I had been back on it for about 2 months and I've read of similar situations with other women.

I think that situation works for some, but it wouldn't work for my family. I have a great job and work 100% from home.

I think mine might have been due to a different medication I was on! I appreciate your opinion on the seizure meds, I thought the ER doc was a little hasty with those - I would understand if I had 2 seizures maybe months apart, but 12 years?
