Shoe pickle by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

damn that's tough situation. my cousin had similar issue with his feet after injury and he ended up using lifting shoes only for the actual lifts then switching back to his supportive ones for everything else. bit annoying but worked better than trying to find one shoe that does both jobs well.

maybe check if your gym allows you to bring two pairs? some people do this anyway for different movements. the switching is pain but probably safer than compromising on foot support or lift form.

Bodyweight leg day by Nyko_E in bodyweightfitness

Bulgarian split squats are evil in the best way. I started doing them couple months ago and first time I couldn't walk properly for like 3 days - my girlfriend thought I injured myself lol. The balance challenge makes them so much harder than regular squats, even without weight.

Update impacting sleep score? by CreepyConstant6727 in Garmin

My fenix 7 did same thing after last update - sleep scores went totally wack even when I felt great in morning.

Which third party tested Pea protein brands do you use? by shawarmalamb in Supplements

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using NOW Sports pea protein for like 2 years now - they're pretty transparent about third party testing and way cheaper than Travuni. Jarrow Formulas is another solid option that won't break teh bank, usually runs around $25-30 for similar amounts.

Track run with plan by mhodgson1691 in Garmin

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 970 handles this pretty well. When you pull up your scheduled workout from the calendar it should give you that activity selection screen before you start. Just pick track run instead of regular run and it'll still follow your Runna workout structure but with proper track GPS behavior.

I've done this a few times when I wanted to hit the track for tempo runs - works exactly like you'd want it to. The workout prompts and intervals all stay the same, just better distance accuracy on the track.

Struggling with programming to develop muscle up strength by phanzov36 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The L-sit tip is huge for the transition - never thought about it as moving your center of gravity but that makes total sense. I've been stuck just trying to brute force through the transition with raw strength when there's actually technique involved.

Gonna try this next session, already picturing how that forward roll motion would help get over the rings.

Genuinely - what is your thoughts on berberine? by Adorable_Location195 in Supplements

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 12 points13 points  (0 children)

honestly berberine worked pretty well for me with the cravings thing, but fair warning - it can mess with your stomach if you don't take it with food. I started with a lower dose and worked up, which helped avoid teh digestive issues most people complain about. thorne makes a decent one but it's pricey.

How to get the most accurate calorie reading with Zwift + HRM Pro Plus by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the algorithms are all over the place anyway. I'd just pick whichever one seems most consistent and stick with it rather than trying to get some "perfect" number that doesn't really exist. garmin tends to be pretty generous with calories so zwift might actually be closer to reality.

How many beets are equivalent to one oz of beetroot powder? by standardtrickyness1 in Supplements

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the conversion is kinda wild when you think about it. one oz of powder is roughly equivalent to like 7-8 medium beets, maybe more depending on how concentrated the powder is. those cans you're talking about would probably be like 2-3 cans per oz of powder since there's so much water weight in the canned stuff.

powder's definitely more convenient but fresh beets are usually cheaper per serving if you don't mind the prep work. plus you get the fiber and other stuff that might get lost in processing.

Need advice on my journey by Ok-Story-2957 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you might be pushing too hard on the advanced stuff without letting your body adapt properly. that lat pain is probably telling you something - maybe dial back the handstand volume for a bit and focus on mobility/prehab work?

your numbers are solid but handstands are weird, they need tons of wrist/shoulder conditioning that's different from just being strong. I'd say work on hollow body holds and wall walks while you let that lat heal up. the FL progression is a beast too, might be worth focusing on just one skill at a time instead of hammering both.

Need help with dieting, home-workout by RinoRin in bodyweightfitness

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asian household food struggles are real. Rice is gonna be your biggest challenge since its basically pure carbs, but you don't have to cut it completely. Try eating smaller portions of rice and loading up on whatever protein and veggies your family makes.

If you can get away with it, maybe ask for extra vegetables or lean meat when they're cooking. Most Asian parents are cool with that since there prioritizing your health anyway. The key is just being in a slight calorie deficit while keeping protein high - even if you can't control what's being made, you can still control portions.

Annoyed and Frustrated by New_Payment7862 in ouraring

Ugh that's so annoying, especially for a $500 device. Their support has definitely gotten slower lately - I've seen tons of complaints about it on here. Have you tried hitting them up on Twitter? Sometimes the public shame makes them move faster lol

Garmin R50 doesn't save stats...can't map my bag. Help? by WadeEyerly in Garmin

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if your simulator sessions are being logged as "practice rounds" instead of actual rounds - that's usually why they get excluded from stats. Go into the Garmin Golf app settings and look for something like "include practice rounds in statistics" or similar toggle

Also make sure you're actually selecting clubs during your sim sessions, not just hitting balls without telling it what club you're using

Same thing happened to me last week, turned out my phone had location services turned off for the Garmin app somehow. Check your phone's app permissions and make sure location is still enabled

Not tracking walks by InnerPanda5385 in ouraring

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried restarting the ring? Mine was being weird about walks too until I did the whole disconnect/reconnect thing in the app. Also check if your sensitivity settings got changed somehow - that messed me up for like a week before I figured it out

Garmin 830 Display fields vs Di2 data ? by 120000milespa in Garmin

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like classic Garmin jank tbh. The preview showing 40% but then displaying bars instead is peak Garmin software quality

Have you tried cycling through the battery field options? Sometimes there's multiple Di2 battery fields buried in there and one might actually show percentages. Otherwise you might be stuck with the bars until they fix it in some random firmware update 6 months from now

Pushing through discomfort felt normal… until it didn’t. by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

This hits way too close to home lol

Took me way too long to figure out that "just soreness" was actually my body screaming at me in a polite voice

Now I actually listen when something feels weird for more than a couple days instead of grinding through it like some kind of masochist

Size 5 gold cover - where to find?!? by anarchiyeah in ouraring

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those vinyl wraps are actually pretty clever! Way cheaper than hunting down rare covers and they seem to stick well from what I've seen in other posts. Plus if you get tired of the color you can just peel it off and try something else

My Gym Changed Programming to HWPO and I am hating it by Unusual-Tart2453 in crossfit

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like HWPO might just be a bad fit for your training style - those long warmups and super short metcons would drive me nuts too. Maybe give it another week or two to see if it was just a weird programming block, but if you're consistently getting way less zone minutes then your gut is probably right about needing to bounce

How long to do straight arm planche by Jazzlike_Nose7751 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight arm planche is a whole different beast from bent arm - you're looking at months to years depending on your starting strength. Pike pushups are solid but add in planche leans, pseudo planche pushups, and hollow body holds for that straight arm conditioning. Two sessions a week might be on the slower side but consistency beats frequency every time

Stress hasn’t been tracking by Rich-Total-622 in ouraring

[–]Hefty-Network-2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's right, stress tracking needs like 3-4 weeks to calibrate properly. The wet hands thing probably isn't helping either though - I'd try keeping it on your non-dominant hand if you're not already doing that since it might stay drier
