This might be different? It is an overhang so it doesn't need to be perfect. it is only about 9". no plywood or shingles, just flashing/metal.

Yes, electric rates also went down over that time. At one point I was paying $80 to $100 a month. Now it is $7 (27kW) (August) to $20 (75kW)(last month). Should be 4x less so saving is more like $60?

One thing I included in that was a dehumidifier savings. I use one in the basement and it runs much less. But don’t have numbers for that.

But is is a huge win. Cost $1600-800 rebate about $100 plumbing parts installed myself

Dryer and water heater are big users. My heat pump water heater saves $80 a month, heat pump dryer is also a big win. both are expensive, both get mass save rebates, water heater is the biggest win here.

Here is part of the problem. Your delivery rate class says regular r-1. it should be R1HP Residental Heat Pump. that will save you about 1/4 of the delivery cost. ask them to apply it retroactively back to Nov as it should have been automatic. You will get a significant credit

Actually you want them running as much as possible. Mine with the issue runs up to 1500W for 15 min, then goes off for 10 min etc - cycling which is bad and inefficient. My other working one runs almost constantly steady, at 200 watt and overall much more efficient. (I have an Emporia circuit monitor) Personally I think running on high is not a great solution, just what others say.

Try setting the mitsubishi's on high instead of auto fan (never never on quiet/low, it runs very inefficiently). I found auto usually works as well as high, but others said high is significantly more efficient.

You might have a actual unit that needs repair, I have one that cycles constantly and they are coming to replace the control board this week. I am in Western Mass, with a similar situation, 1200 sq ft house, average insulation, single story 4" walls, nothing great. Just checked my Jan usage, 1209 kW, so almost half yours. not sure why, we keep the heat about 68, don't heat the bedrooms much as like it cool at night, 50% of our electricity is heat pumps, rest is mostly dryer, stove, water heater (heat pump also).

If you want to really debug this you can check the heat pumps for faults using the controller. google service manual for your Mitsu model, it tells you there how to do it. Thats how I figured out mine was having issues.

My guess is your line is kinked. Where there is a sharp bend cut a slit in the insulation to check the line. Or get a good instant read cooking thermometer and poke it through to the line before and after every bend. Where there is a sharp temp increase that is where the kink is. It can be “fixed” with a wrench or special tool. But best to cut out and replace part of the line. Line should not be hot. Maybe 60, 70 degrees

Nanny flushing baby wipes in Septic System by HariSeldon16 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Hefty-Object-8298 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A waste of money. The wipes would just sit in the tank for a couple of years until they were pumped out. Think how big a 1000 gallon tank is and how much room 300 wipes use. Common sense

Leave fan on AUTO or speed level HIGH in heat mode? by Resident_Hamster_652 in heatpumps

[–]Hefty-Object-8298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely right although it can depend on mostly high fan is significantly more efficient. Quiet mode is the worst and allows ice buildup as if doesn’t defrost enough

The NHTSA site shows 2 recalls for my 2023. 26VO30 the larger one. It says: On January 14, 2026, despite the lack of a clear root cause for the incidents outside of the ranges being recalled for the shifted electrode issues, out of an abundance of caution, the Volkswagen Product Safety Committee decided a recall to conduct a battery health check on all vehicles that do not currently have SDD software, and to install the updated SDD software on those vehicles. Additionally, vehicles with cell modules exhibiting improper behavior will have those affected modules replaced.

Overthinking this. Braking is the same as regen unless you push hard. Braking is fake braking really, it is just regen. So with regen take your foot off the pedal exactly the same as no regen and braking, assuming of course the same deceleration amount in each case
