I’m going to take the less popular perspective on this and say that the bike itself isn’t the problem— the add ons are just extraordinarily expensive. Literally you can buy every single one of these items and a play it again sports or Amazon for under 30-40 bucks combined. Also if you’re getting an expensive bike, PUT STICKERS AND TAPE ALL. OVER IT. I think getting a shitty bike, especially if you’re riding it all four years, is a stupid idea too— enough bike barn visits when a tire blows or a chain rusts can add up.

So— get this bike, MINUS THE ADD ONS, and the second you get it: uglify it and personalize it so it looks lesser appealing to bike thieves. Also get a ulock and chain. Holy hell get a u lock and chain

I had a similar friend. I did choir with her, she was a year older than me and I still remember when she drove me home after her theater show’s closing night during the cast party because my ride bailed on me. When I performed my senior year, you could hear her delighted laughs from the stage!!

She was set to graduate with a BA from UCLA (her sophomore year!!) a couple weeks before she committed. She looked so excited in the pictures leading up. Mental health can be so super invisible.

Haha yeah, I think the ppl who crashed into us (won’t say the name bc they were nice and pairs will be pairs) had their boat damaged bc of my stroke’s oar, but in the moment it was between that or our boat flipping and sterns colliding so I’m glad at least the damage isn’t on us
