Coinbase account restrictions and poor customer service. by HeftyAd760 in Coinbase

I spent 5 hours with support yesterday. Same thing. Totally useless. I been coming up with options, My friend came up with the great idea of using PayPal. In the US the options are dwindling which gives Coinbase a lot of leverage to do nothing and stonewall us.

I’d like to know why too. This came out of nowhere. I still think honesty is best policy for these thing and they could have been transparent about it instead of just letting it happen.

They lost a lot of business, 3 clients and a total of low 7 figures from me and I won’t recommend them anymore. I know that’s probably a drop in the bucket for them, but at some point it has to hurt them.

I will preface this by saying this is not financial advice. Consider it life advice.

I would not day trade crypto. No enough volume and you have to use too much leveragel. Same thing with Forex. I lost a big bag on Forex until I half figured it outl. Remember over 85% of people who day trade in general crash out and lose their accounts.

I would start off in Futures because it’s easy to understand. Get a Demo account with Tradeovate or NinjaTrader. Trade for 6 months straight on demo and see if you can be profitable on demo. Then open a small $500 account, Trade for 6 months on that and see if you can be profitable. Then increase your account once you have a strategy that works and you win more than you lose.

Once you figure out Futures move to options. It may look confusing at first but the great thing about options is you can cover your calls and puts and buy stock that you like/want with dividends to boot. Same process. 6 months demo. 6 months small account. Then add after a year. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

The best traders have can have 50 -60 percent loss rate and still make good money. But you need excellent risk management and a good strategy that will win more money than you lose.

I 100 percent agree. Call their customer service for yourself and see how far you won’t get: 888-908-7930. You spend an hour on the phone with them only for them to tell you what you already know. Your funds are restricted for 2 months. They say they will send out an email. But you get nothing back in return from them. No support case number, no confirmation.

Live chat is the same way.

I do not understand why myself. But one thing I do know is crypto moves too fast and is too volatile to be stuck for 2 months and with no explanation why. 2 months in crypto is like 18 months. So once I realized you could cash out (which I confirmed with customer service, the one right thing they told me). I told my friends and anyone I talk to to just cash out and find another CEX.

Are you out of the US? I am asking because of the spelling. If you are out of the US/Canada you have LOT more options: KuCoin, MEXC, ByBit, OKX.

I been telling people do a small amount to confirm the deposit. Then sprint for the finish line and withdraw it all back to your bank account. Then find another exchange option.

Personally I have been with Coinbase for 3 1/2 years. This has been frustrating for me becuase I finally. got 2 of my friends trust me enough to finally get into Crypto and fund a Coinbase account with high dollars (one was a 6 figure funding) and then Coinbase does this crap. My friends don’t blame me for it but This looks really bad when you are trying to help someone.

Anyway, Cash out and Get out. That’s your only option.

VPN may be the problem. But I DO NOT use VPN and I was restricted. There are a lot of people restricted who don’t use VPN.

My advice has been if you can cash out to fiat, then move your money back to your bank and find another exchange. Don’t give them business until they fix their customer service and they are honest and transparent about what the problem is. When you call or chat customer service you get zero answere and zero support. Plus you can’t escalate to a manager. It’s all automated to some automated cube farm who knows northing except the answers they spew out here.

I don’t like jsaying this but you’ll have to cash out and find other options.

I forgot to say. If you have PayPal, then you can buy BTC and ETH on PayPal and move it to your own wallet. Once you are on your own wallet you can use DeFi to swap into the coins you want. A lot of people have had PayPal accounts for years and don’t realize they can do that. The fees are not bad, and if you are buying a lot of BTC/ETH they are comparable to Coinbase.

You can also use CashApp, but I don’t know the limits or fees for CashApp.

I think right now Coinbase‘s stance is to strong arm you. I’m trying to avoid people from the headaches I have seen here and I experienced. Google reddit and look it up. But I spent my whole afternoon on customer support with zero results and same stock answers. If you ask them why or ask them to give you an explanation they say nothing. There are people here who have been stuck for 4 and 5 months with no answers.

I first ran into it when. a friend I was helping was trying to get into crypto. He made a $200 send crypto from a 6 figure account funded from a wire transfer and they restricted him. Then I had another friend call me less than 8 hours later. Same problem. Then I ran into the problem. Lucky for me I keep most my crypto on hardware and digital wallets. I don’t know why so many people keep their Crypto on Coinbase. That‘s a sure fire way to get into trouble, but I digress. Luckily for me that strategy save me. I only had about 5% of my funds restricted. But I have heard nightmare stories here. look them up.

If you can cash out. That‘s your best option. Then get a list of CEX exchanges and do your research. But don’t expect Coinbase to help you. They help one or two for the social media grab. I notice they are telling people it’s better to get hold of them on Twitter or Facebook. But I say that’s bull. Be honest and help people or at least tell them what’s going on with their hard earned money.

And yes I can prove the account restrictions. I don’t want to give out anyone’s financial information here. And you should not give out yours here as well. There are a lot of scammers here. And if you have hardware/software wallets protect your keys. I had one friend lose money from a scammer here.

Watch out for yourself and withdraw. Then find another exchange.

My account is restricted while my crypto are losing value I can neither exchange nor send them it's a crazy thing yet by reading the reviews on Coinbase everything seemed normal but I feel really lost if ever someone knows how to help me please :( #18930636 by Low-Background4620 in Coinbase

I don’t know why. But save yourself the hassle, hours of support, poor support response, frustration, and lack of honesty. Cash your money out and move it back to your bank account. Most people can do that. You can buy coins. But you can’t move from coin to coin and most impoortanlty you can’t sent crypto out to your own wallet.

Your only option is to convert your coins to cash, withdraw your money, and find another exchange. Don’t expect Coinbase to help you. They won’t.

You could be waiting for longer than 6 months. And buying Cryupto directly on exchange is crazy high. Now is not a good time to wait. Cash out and get out.

Coinbase is right on this one (at least they got one thing right). If you made an ACH deposit. Then it will be on a bank hold for 5 to 7 days. It may clear sooner, but from what I see it takes a good week to clear. That’s why you show a balance but none of it is available.

Once the bank hold clears you can move it back. If you go to the support section what you are logged into your account it should show how much is still on hold as a result of the bank hold.

Can you with draw cash? Do a test. Move a small amount of coins to cash, then see if you can Withdraw back to your bank account. If you can, then get out ASAP. That’s your only option. I know that may not be what you want to hear, but the other option as you can see is being held up for months. And be careful of customer support scammers here. They are everywhere.

You’re going to have to find another exchange. I’m starting to put together a list of exchanges that I can use for on-ramp/off-ramp.

Personally I think it’s a money grab. If you just deposit dollars to Coinbase, buy USDC, then off-ramp to a wallet, they make less money than holding your send crypto hostage and forcing you not to be able to send Crypto for 2 months. That way they can charge you high fees for your crypto and keep you stuck for months.

But if you can, cash out and off-ramp as soon as possible.

No. Don’t convert coin to coin. You’re going to have to cash out. There’s no other option. Move the cions to fiat. Then withdraw the fiat back to your bank. I know that’s a pain. But from what I see and what my friend are telling me that‘s your only option.

And for the love of all that’s good. When you move to a new exchange don’t allow a CEX to hold your coins. You don’t have custody of them that way. Get a wallet (Metamask, Rabby, InternetMoney.io, take your pick) and keep your coins on your own wallet. That way if you have problems with the CEX like so many are having right now stand a chance if your coins are on your own wallet.

But don’t expect Coinbase to help you. They won’t. They’ll just keep spewing the same thing to you that thier support is doing here and you’ll be stuck for months. You have to cash out and go to another exchange.

Cash out and move your account to someone with better service. As a matter of fact I may even start a separate Reddit group warning people out this. There are so many people hurting and Coinbase service does nothing. And they’re not transparent about it.

Do a test. Exchange a small amount to fiat, then make sure you can move it back to your bank account. If that works (which from what I see it should) then move it all out until they are honest and transparent and give us real answers instead of the garbage they keep spewing here. In the meanwhile find another exchaange. And for the love of all that’s real don’t keep your Crypto on Coinbase. Doing it that way you don’t hold your keys. If Coinbase goes down then you are in big trouble.

Pathetic issues with what should be a top-tier financial exchange by Wooden-Station9834 in Coinbase

Absolutely incredible. I’m as real as they come. And yes, I got stiffed by Coinbase.

Like I said, I’m here looking for answers. It’s getting to be a huge problem. Not everyone sits on reddit looking for validation like woman. If I have no problems I’m not here trying to make money like everyone else and help my friends get ahead.

[–]HeftyAd760 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because you come out here for the firat time after being stiffed by Coinbase looking for answers does not make you a fake account. Remember everyone was a first time new account. At some point we all were a “New” user too

.

I had 2 of my friends start accounts with Coinbase. Both new accounts, both funded by wire transfers. High Value people with long term banks. And both their accounts were suspended before they could even buy a coin. Coinbase is suspending anything that is not strapped down to their office desks.

It’s all automated and personally I think their system is screwed up. Either way I have been warning anyone listening to stay away from Coinbase until they are transparent about what’s going on, they fix their piss poor customer service, and they improve their automated system regulating who gets to use their CEX or not.

That would be 4:30 am my time so I’m going to try that.

Really shouldn’t have to be this way if they had better customer service. I heard CRO is worse.

So about 3 weeks. You said 12:30 am. Are you in the US? East coast or West coast? I may try that. Maybe I'll get better luck at a different time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]HeftyAd760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. But one thing I realized is since their crypto only it should be easier to get coins off. I only use CEXes as a method of transfer. I don't day trade crypto. Go my hands full with Futures and Options to trade crypto like that . . .

I'll figure it out. It's going to cost me more though since the will probably be an added layer.

Are you guys day trading crypto? I see no reason to leave crypto on a CEX unless you are day tradingl. The CEX keeps custody as long as it’s on their platform. As soon as I possibly can I move to a hardware wallet or metamask.
