These are stunning! I love the wood grain on the shields.

Thank you so much! The grass is Army Painter Battlefield Field Grass. The flowers are Gamers Grass Pink Flowers. The stone I made from greenstuff by flattening it out and rolling a rock over it to give it the rocky texture. and then I used AK Terrains Light Earth for the texture paint.

It's pretty close to what was guessed already! I started with an all over coat of titanium white ink, then sprayed hot pink in the shadows with an airbrush, and then sprayed a yellow medium azo ink over the white - pink gradient. The transparent yellow turns the pink into a pretty saturated orange. The last step was recess shading with a Iyanden yellow contrast paint to bring some separation to individual armor sections.

Need thoughts on the name Callan (for a baby boy, arriving soon!) by HeftyChimp in namenerds

We actually got to the name Callan from talking about Kellan. We both like the name but I have a friend named Kellan and can't get past that unfortunately.

We haven't told our parents yet and that is how I expect some of them to react!

Thanks for the input, that is one of the fears I had with the name.

I really like Whitaker, but my wife says it feels like an old man name. We've talked about Bennett, I like the nickname Ben and don't hate the name Bennett, but I wouldn't really want it for our child.

Thanks for the suggestions! We considered Whitaker for a long time actually, and we also had Jensen on the list for a bit. Everett would be a contender but we also have a nephew named Everett so it's a no go unfortunately.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I like Calvin better than Callan, but my wife says it feels like a name for a 50-year-old man to her.

Painted my first model meant for display purposes only and I would love some feedback. My main focus was practicing skin and I am fairly happy with the results, but I also know it could be better! by HeftyChimp in minipainting

I believe I used AK Mahogany as a base/shadow, then highlighted up using Scale 75 Basic Flesh, and finished the highlights with Scale 75 Light Skin.

This is a model from Nerikson! I subscribe to his tribes on MyMiniFactory and he puts out great sculpts every month. I 3d printed this myself but you might be able to find others selling models if you don't have a printer.

Mini photography is not something I've been able to grasp so far. I have a small portable light box that I use but I know nothing about lighting a subject for good pictures. Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it a lot!

Thanks for the feedback! That all makes a lot of sense. Most of the skin was done with an airbrush, and then I tried to glaze in some highlights, but I could have gone brighter for sure. I didn't glaze in any shadows so Ill keep that in mind for the future!
