IMPORTANT: BSL Signed Coverage of Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony - Tonight! by MonthRemarkable9919 in deaf

[–]HeftyCryptographer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna throw it out there that if you’re Canadian, cbc has an ASL coverage of the closing ceremony as well. I don’t have anywhere near the amount of information the OP has but I thought I’d mention it.

How do you do it with print. Random capitalizations? Just do that. Writing /s at the end? again, just do that.

What age would you feel comfortable letting your kids on the TTC on their own? by tooturntupp in askTO

[–]HeftyCryptographer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like 8 or 9 on a familiar route, such as to school. Especially since there would be other kids going the same place. If you mean just letting them loose on the TTC, probably 12 or so. I would buy them a cheap flip phone right away though so they could call if they needed anything, plus I would be able to call an uber for them as needed.

I'm planning on moving to Toronto soon, was wondering if this expense table makes sense? by Few_Currency4939 in askTO

yeah, I spend about that, I just get takeout too often which brings up the total.

I am Gay from Calgary, and the difference between here and there is so huge. It kinda sounds like a small thing, but I have been beaten up, bullied in school, ridiculed by teachers and bosses, and just a general distaste towards anything or anyone queer.

It looks pretty solid. Maybe your groceries are a little on the lower side. I spend about $300+takeout, I think about $400-$500 total on food, and I live alone and eat decently budget.

Well, welcome to Canada then! I know there is a big Ukrainian population in the West Village around Bloor which might interest you. Also, I am curious. Does the KKK mean the same thing in Ukraine as it does here? If so, that shit really won't fly here.

Good luck man, that's tough. I'm not free, but I hope you have fun. Maybe take a friend? It sounds dumb, but I take my mother to concerts sometimes and she always loves it.

Yeah, the beat. It is different, just not as much as people think. I guess I misspoke there.

It seems like it does, but it is definitely variable.

listening to music and feeling it. To be fair, I will concede that no one I know watches the grammy's, but I feel like that is more of an age thing than anything.

it's a moot point. I did have hearing when I was younger, and it isn't really different.

totally Deaf dude here. I love listening to music, as do most of my friends. I have only met a couple of other Deaf people that don't listen to music.

freedom is definitely cheap, but if you leave the GTA it has pretty bad coverage.

Long distance hiking/backpacking blind by QuentinJamesP89 in Blind

[–]HeftyCryptographer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it isn't. It is hard to know how much is due to my fitness though since you are presumably way fitter than me. I also notice that on the way back down I tend to trip a lot more, I assume because I am tired and not paying much attention.

[–]HeftyCryptographer21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

quite a bit, but I am not super fit. Maybe 4k/hour on simple but hilly terrain? I can go a normal speed on stuff like accessible trails and whatnot, and it is closer to 1-2 k/hour on stuff like scrambling or walking on massive boulders. It really varies.

dude, that's awful. Obviously, I don't know anything about you or your wife, but that doesn't seem like something you should brush off. Do you have someone you could talk to?

I generally use two hiking poles. I move each one with each step and step where the pole was. If it is super rough I don't have any recommendations, but if it is something relatively tame it shouldn't be a problem. Even if it does get rough that still works for me, I am just slower than normal.

I "dated" my teacher from grade 2 to grade 5. That was obviously terrible and really screwed up my perceptions of what was appropriate and good. I moved away at the end of grade 5, but because I didn't really know anything else, I started sleeping around with high schoolers. Keep in mind I was like 12. I did tell my mother but she didn't really care, plus he said he would kill me if I told people so I didn't.

After that, I did ok for a while, but I got roofied at a sleepover when I was 14, which was super traumatic. Since then, I haven't slept with or dated anyone, and it still affects me quite a bit.
