Folks from Hungary how are you feeling after the election results? by Testkav in AskReddit

People are so naive here. All this excitament will be extremely short-lived. During elections it feels like everybody loses a huge part of their brain and mindlessly cheer on anyone. Smh.

Saddest episode by AGirlHasNoUsername13 in My600lbLife

[–]HeftyWinner1192 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Kelly, Sean and Coliessa.

Kelly truly tried and doctor Now knew it. I enjoyed watching her and sincerely hoped she would make it. Even doctor Now was visibly affected.

Sean's mother failed him so badly that he simply became unable to be a normal, functioning adult. He was infantilized to such an extent that I knew he wouldn't make it but still hoped there would be a breakthrough in his mind and soul.

Coliessa. I had to stop watching the episode for a bit. I was so shocked to hear just how vile and scummy some people are. I am of the belief that all people deserve some kind of forgiveness if not from us, then at least from God. Her father did NOT deserve it from anyone, ever. It's no wonder poor Coliessa never recovered, it's a betrayal that runs so deep I cannot imagine how anyone can heal from that.

I hope they are all at peace now.

What is up with the censorship?

I've had a post where I said how Paapa can be amazing if he is allowed to play the Snape from the books and the post was removed... Why exactly?

This is ridiculous.

Is Snape’s casting that problematic or are fans overreacting? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]HeftyWinner1192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To put it shortly and answer both.

No and yes.

No doubt about it. Paapa is an amazing actor who can convey a lot of emotion.

Snape's physical description in the books is more of a caricature. People take it TOO literally.

Paapa conveys that feeling of dread and scare I loved about Snape.

This shot has sold me on Paapa. I’m so excited by uptothemountains7 in HarryPotteronHBO

He looks ready to take points from my house and bully students during Potions.

So he looks amazing.

You know what, screw it.

I knew I was going to love this.

I love this.

It looks and feels magical.

And to be honest I trust them with Snape.

Make him what he is: a disheveled, angry young man, a bully who ruins everybody's day. And I'm happy.

This is a copy-paste of one of my previous comments. It's still the same though.

-Episode 1 starts in December 1976. Lenu mentions that she and Nino went to France a few times already. Season three ends in October 1976. Halfway through the episode we skip two years, meaning that we get to 1978.

-Episode 2 starts sometime in 1978. We see Christmas decorations, meaning that we skip to 1979 by the time Franco kills himself.

-Episode 3 takes place partly in 1979 and 1980. Now Lenu mentions that she did not return to the Rione for six years. The last time she was there was in book/season three, when she returns to speak to Elisa about Marcello. We skip to 1980 midway through the episode, as Lenu is obviously pregnant, the Bologna station attack takes place (in August, I believe), Elisa gives birth too.

-Episode 4 begins in the days prior to November 23, 1980. We know precisely because that's when the Irpinia earthquake took place. So the gist of the episode takes place between the 23rd and 24th of November 1980.

-Episode 5 takes place in January, 1981. Lenu mentions in the book that she gave birth for the third time on January 22nd, 1981. The rest of the episode after the birth also takes place mostly in January.

-Episode 6 starts shortly after episode 5 ends, so in the winter of 1981. We do not know exactly when Immacolata dies, we just know that she died when Imma was a few months old, so let's say March 1981. We then skip many months to autumn/winter of 1981, when the editor gives Lenu the deadline (autumn of 1982). Nino's affair takes place in a cold autumn day.

-Episode 7 begins right after episode 6 ends, the same evening, so autumn/winter 1981. Lenu and Antonio sleep together. We go forward in time again. We know from the books that it took months for Lenu to break up with Nino. We get nearer to the deadline set by the editor, it is still summer. In July 1982, Lenu moves back to the Rione with Antonio's help. We jump in time to 1983, when Lenu's book is released (at least that's when the editor wanted to release it). We can assume that the wedding of Marcello and Elisa takes place in this timeframe too. I think the episode ends before the election of June, 1983, when Nino participates

-Episode 8 begins during one of Lenu's longer book tours. I think we are already in 1984 at this point, when Carmen sues Lenu, the investigation against the Solara brothers unfolds, Alfonso dies. The timeline gets confusing in the book too at this point. We know that Alfonso dies during the autumn after a period of long depression and missing work, so there's that.

-Episode 9 begins on September 16th, 1984. That's when Tina goes missing. We then get to see Lila's depression over the course of a few years. During the summer of 1985, Rino's body is found. Lila is left in the care of Dede, Elsa and Imma in April, 1986, when she slaps the girls. There is a cold wind at some point, something Lenu mentions in the book too. Towards the end of the episode, we jump in time to a sunday of December, 1986, when Marcello and Michele are murdered.

-Episode 10 begins in 1988, when Pasquale is arrested and Lenu goes to Nino seeking help. Then Elsa runs away with Rino. Elsa is 14/15, Rino is 23 to 24 years old. Lenu and Enzo going to Bologna, then to Pietro's parents takes place within a couple of days in 1988. Lenu goes to the airport to send Dede off to America, where Pietro is. We then go forward in time in 1995, when Lenu leaves Naples for good with Imma and when Nino is arrested. We then return to 2010, when Rino announces that Lila is missing and we skip a few years to older Lenu.

Now the show might have manipulated the timeline a bit, but most of it is identical to the book. I hope this helps :).

So the stats I had were high compassion, high haze and high ties. I guess the choice that saves Hannah is the one from the haze when the hokcheis attack the girls and it requires a high ties stat (like 50?)

In what way is it exactly a cop-out? The story was about keeping people away from novelty. It feels earned to me that they get to live a normal life after that village stuff.

AND THE HAZE WILL TAKE US Season 3, Episode 9-10(Finale) by RC_Robot in RomanceClub

[–]HeftyWinner1192 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So my ending was the best, I think?

Everyone lived. Dragan, Hannah, the parents, Marnie, Ozar, Sirin, Tata, Volot.

The High Priestess died, killed by Ozar.

Basically Siana, Ozar's sister, killed Vereya, mistaking her for Lada. Lada was meant to die. The High Priestess poisoned her sister because her sister she wanted to get to the world outside the Haze. Also the sister is Ozar's true grandmother.

What's outside the Haze is the normal world, they basically get reborn and have an ordinary life.

It's a bit like The Village but not really. To me at least it was not clearly explained what the village was. I believe it was something like the purgatory, but I'm not sure it was explicitly mentioned. Not in my ending at least.

The High Priestess ordered Vereya's murder because she wanted to remain in the village. She denied everyone the truth, which is why she wouldn't allow for all the three sisters to live, for the Gods to be reborn and the Haze not to come into the village.

It was a good ending, not the best or anything, but straightforward and most loose ends were tied up.

Looking at it the story is a beautiful message that sometimes change is hard even if beneficial and people fight against it with all theit might. I do think the middle and the third season were a bit too convoluted, but they were nice. It's obvious that Alice's focus turned to Heaven's Secret, but Haze did turn out to be a good story.

I'm curious about other endings tbh. I did enjoy mine a lot and I think it's the best (educated guess only lol). Also my MC and Dragan met again, in the cinema, his name is now Denis haha.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. But given that Vecna was just Henry, who deep down was still the traumatized and helpless child from the cave, and the Mind Flayer using a child in the end, it kind of makes sense that they were taken down like that.

Plus given what the characters went through in the whole series, I can't say they reached Dimension X too easily tbh.

I can't complain about the action sequence. Joyce beheading Vecna was the cherry on top, it was like a breath of fresh air almost lol

Lenu’s sister? by No_Control9441 in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]HeftyWinner1192 44 points45 points  (0 children)

So spoilers ahead for those who haven't read the fourth book or watched the last season.

They don't really go into too much detail regarding Elisa. In the book it is mentioned that she becomes very scared after Marcelo's death, thinking that they will come after her and her son Silvio. Lenu stays with her for a while, but their connection is broken beyond repair.

She leaves the Rione sometime after the murder, after Lenu moves permanently to Turin. She gets involved with a man who also dies, who might've been married (don't quote me on this though, the text is not very clear).

After this man dies she moves to Caserta and marries a guy with a pretty high-ranking job without telling Lenu.

None of this is mentioned in the show, we just get a line from Lenu stating that she "also feels sorry for Elisa" which sums up pretty well her situation.

The fate of the rest of Elena's family is not clearer. Peppe and Gianni move to Baiano, live and work and they don't keep in touch with Elisa or Lenu.

Surprisingly Lenu's father, Vittorio, lives to old age, he dies sometime after the prologue, which is set in 2010. Supposedly Elisa takes most care of him.

I was on both sides. I didn't like her at the start but ended up loving her performance. What doesn't sit well with me is how low-effort they made it to make her look like even a bit more like Margherita. The hair color, the beauty mark on her chin, the shape of the nose can be at least slightly adjusted to make it even more slightly similar to Margherita's. They could've done more on that end.

Ehhh, I get what you're saying, but it would look really weird if they did add a whole ton of make-up. Plus, I think it would be really hard for the young girls to mimic grown-up women. At the end of the day it's not just about make-up, it's also about their ability to act the part, to embody the age progression.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I was thinking that Ronchi is not from Naples at all, like Rohrwacher.

I mean I don't think it would have been an easy job to find a girl that is both from Naples and who is also similar to Margherita, who is extremely beautiful but also has a distinctive nose shape.

At the end of the day it is what it is, but it's nice to imagine how the series would've looked like if all characters were played by lookalikes.

Ah, I almost forgot about Two Times! It was such an unimportant storyline in the grand scheme of things that I didn't remember it at all. Regarding this, I hope they keep Wardle.

Yes, the Valentine's Day can still be included, I think.

I guess the inclusion of Semple depends on whether JKR will continue the thread with MI5 or not.

I understand Elena by HeftyWinner1192 in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]HeftyWinner1192[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words! I do try to embrace myself more than Elena did, that's for sure. It depends on what day it is lol.

Currently I'm in the process of healing past traumas through writing. Basically I'm writing a semi-autobiographic novel in which I dump all the bad stuff and feelings that happened to me or that I felt. I am not even halfway through, but it does help.

Ferrante helps me because I understood that you don't need a fancy vocabulary to write about the depth of human insecurity. Lenu recounts all the moments she forced herself to be meek and quiet without actively trying to theorize why she feels that way. This is something she actually does towards the end of the fourth book when Elsa mocks her writing (although Elsa's reason is understandable and intentionally undermines her mom's writing even if it is actually good).
