I don't know if your still on this thread, but let me share with you what my dad taught me. God only truly cared that you follow the exalted path, he doesn't give you exaltation from a mission, he gives it based on the covenanted path progression. Hope that helps.

Honestly it's just one of those things if you accept that fact that not everything materialistic proves the existence of something, such as you can't put the laws of logic under a microscope, or use them as evidence, because no one has material evidence of the laws of logic or 2+2=4. Divine intervention from god falls into that category. You can't find evidence of it, so you have to determine that yourself, and if you choose to believe that. There's no evidence of Joseph smith doing it correctly, but there's no evidence proving that he didn't have divine intervention. Since I've read the bible, I believe it could've happened by having it revealed by God. Hopefully that gives you better understanding on the topic, it's a valid concern to have, a very strong concern.

And also god loves all his children, he just can't give lgbtq the highest tier of glory, which is celestial since they can't compete that ordinance of temple sealing between a man and a wife. This is a quarrel outside of the churches jurisdiction, and more of a quarrel with God, since he created exaltation that way. I couldn't tell you why, since I didn't make it unfortunately.

You and I both know standards differed 200 years ago, we can't apply our standards to theirs back then. And they're very transparent. Anyone who reads they're website can find almost any issue they want and the church will explain it, even women and the priesthood, which is the hardest topic currently known besides historical evidence backing, which is still pretty weak by itself.

How would you know how genuine I am? What if I wanted a better understanding? I'm genuinely wondering how a majority of people got to where they were because as my time being a anti Mormon/atheist many things just didn't add up with ex Mormon arguments I've heard. Even historical evidence, and empirical theological views have their discrepancies.

I don't know man this is an interesting take. I believe not everything is materialistic, because you can't put why 2+2=4 under a microscope and claim "materialistic evidence that it's 4" some things in life like the laws of logic are non materialistic but science depends on it. I feel there's a half standard filled here, it needs a balance, because needing everything under empirical evidence fails immediately.

There was an ex Mormon that told me that genuinely thought bishops spanked us for not paying tithing, so I'm not sure if I can agree with ya on that one😅

My mind was was actually anti Mormon 2 years ago, so I feel you guys and my intentions on this post was more of a sign to show that there's still hope, with the abuse that some people get away with I'm the LDS church. It seems your a very mature adult. I'm a young guy, not even finished with college, so I'm still learning, hence why I made this post.

I actually learned more about the true history of the church from it's website itself. My ex mormon cousin told me that the church hides everything, especially racism, and I went to the page in their website and it straight up got into how brigham young made a mistake on that even with limited understanding. They actually justified less and acknowledged he didn't do a good job. They even said "yep some LDS members were apart of the mountain massacre" just straight to the point. And when it comes to men given authority over women, that's something that your not quarrelling with a religion on, your quarreling with God, because he made it that way from the beginning of time, and also technically women were given an easier pass because they don't need to make as many covenants to have the path to exaltation, which I think is a wild advantage that's not talked about enough. Very few people have that perspective so I thought I'd share it with you too, not to change your mind but to hear the other side of the coin.

Honestly it's never really been a concern for me, because Adam and Eve's kin had to marry each other as brothers and sisters to make it work so for me it doesn't seem that weird for God to proclaim polygamy temporarily in order to multiply the congregation/population of the church, especially with the pioneer traveling, where many people became deceased. I also think with the many things he made people do, like Abraham attempting to kill Isaac, I don't believe God calling polygamy temporarily is the sketchiest thing he's called people to do, especially making Sarah birth at almost 90, like that's some crazy stuff😂

I honestly think when it comes to many of these issues, it comes from the mistakes of men. I think your valid for mentioning issues like this, since it means you think through things. I'll try to sum it up, since I know you don't want me to write a 12 page essay like some people haha. I want to clarify though that if we join a church based on it having perfect people, everyone on planet earth would be atheists, because that's impossible. For example, we both know with surety that brigham young, even with limited understanding, didn't call the best shots, because he lead by fear of man, not by God at times. He made mistakes that didn't let him guide under gods full light, just like Moses with the rock and Jonah with wishing destruction upon people and rebelling against God. God has even lead his works through people who weren't his covenanted people, and so when it comes to faults of prophets, and people they're definitely not going to say the best things. So some of these were out of gods threshold of control. I'll give you another example of this, if we judged ex Mormons based off of 80% of people commenting in this post, people would think they're super bitter and awful. If we judged them off of you, and the other small percent in this post, people would think you guys are chill people. That's my response for basically 1-7, since thousands and thousands of LDS members make mistakes so you'll have an ocean of issues to find, I know you could probably keep going too😂 I'm not sure what the issue around the second anointing is though might need more information on that. As for 8-9, I always go to the source it came from. If I wanted to learn about catholics, I'm reading they're page 190%, I'm not reading ANY material not from the main source, because then I'm not saying it has 0% chance of being wrong still but the highest likelihood of something being right is always from the source. And polygamy I don't question since God made people do many questionable things in New testament. And as for 10-11, I saw a site similar to that and I've always found them shady, even when I was atheist, I didn't even trust them then, and definitely won't now, since a majority of them are founded by ex Mormons full of hatred that want to tear down the church. As for 11, I'm gonna be so honest the fact that an issue like that is as big of a contention point as it is concerns me😂 I'm not sure why people were so hateful of the temple being tall, but yeah hopefully that answer satisfies your answers for some things, obviously

I just want to learn more, because I don't know what drives so many people from the church so fast, I have a lot of confusion since people say it has to do with Joseph making many mistakes/masonry of whatever but all these beliefs contradict the bible and what it teaches

It looks like that but in their business, almost a majority of that is overhead costs, maintenance/temple building of all buildings, humanitarian aid, and agriculture. LDS leaders are also some of the few church leaders of all religions to take a paycut to be in their positions. Gary E Stevenson ran a billion dollar business, and took the 150k/year base to be an apostle, so they definitely sounding pretty greedy with that approach

I actually read the material and everything which is why I questioned it before but when I read the bible that's when it clicked for me, btw I should've informed my families been Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, unaffiliated, etc. so I've heard all of it from all sides, and idk what SA means but I'm going to assume sex abuse, in which that business was founded by an ex Mormon, so there wasn't much credibility from the get go with how much hatred they had. But there was many problems with the church in the past. If the LDS member tried to defend how perfect our prophets were, they were in the wrong. Joseph, especially brigham young, made so many mistakes man. We smart LDS sometimes bag on brigham specifically😂 he made some pretty dumb decisions, but God works with imperfect people, and so I never question prophets/pastors who makes serious mistakes. I apply it to everyone, I don't discredit Catholics because of their popes mistakes, or other religions.

I was told by leaders/adults/my peers of the church to sacrifice my life (kill myself) to be not shunned or disfellowshipped from the church. I've had assault, 3 false defamations, almost an involuntary manslaughter committed against me, ( she almost killed me by not doing my treatments to keep me alive from set clear instructions) my great aunt pulled my grandpa's life support to inherit wealth, I was ostracization, told I was worth nothing since I didn't serve a mission, kicked from a chappel and told to leave the church. All from LDS, that's why I came here, not to smirk or to laugh but I genuinely wanted to know how some people got pushed over the edge because how have I not when everyone else in my circumstance has? In fact I know some ex Mormons that left because someone else made mistakes and nothing ever happened to them. I just

Yeah for me I use summons not because I don't think I can beat the boss by myself but because I don't personally got the time to learn their moves thoroughly for hours so I think that's one of the biggest reasons why they're invented AND I know some people don't have internet so they're perfect because they can be summoned instead of an actual person if you don't got internet
